  • One of the great radios of the last 20 years!

  • hey Kc9hyr2 whats up?

i am getting a galaxy DX 959 tuesday april 20th i will let you

know how it goes with the radio.

you might here me arount on the radio i am call (REDROOSTER)

    in ontario canada.

  • I just got one for my F250. Next I want to get a good mic. Have any recomendations?

  • @rudedogii Well i be honest and say i have never explored alternate mics but you have to remember its CB so you are talking on AM and with the DX959 also ssb. one thing to remember when finding a mic is1: since its AM the better quality and overall volume of the mic is best because the louder you are on AM the more power you put out. 2: make sure its comfortable in your hand and not too big or small. also make sure your connector is correct, not all 4 pins are the same wireing. hope this helpes

  • is this radio worth buying?

  • yes sir this radio has it all am, ssb, and a pa talkback, dimmer adjust, and even turn it off, roger beep, clarifier, variable power output on am and ssb. mic feels good in hand not to huge or too small. features a galaxy noise filter in addition to the noise blank and automatic noise limiter. 3 tone settings. i dont think there is mutch more to ask out of this raido. have funn. 73 kc9hyr

  • Almost, but a VFO and FM is hard to beat.

  • @69nova454 Its a good first radio, but the galaxy 99 is better. Ive got both. One for a mobile and one for a base hooked up to an antron 99.Also got a palomar 250 wat amp in case I get stuck 4 wheelin and need a land line relay to get some help.

  • I have a DX-959 in my car, along side my Icom IC-706MKIIG. It's an excellent radio, and I have NO regrets in it's perchance. I didn't care for the stock mic on it, so I put a nice $30 mic I got from a truck stop on it.

Out of the box I can do 5 watts AM, 14 Watts SSB. with modulation. Seems to be a kHz off in transmit according to the freq counter. Because it's a CB, I'm not terribly worried about it.

I use it to listen for "Smokies" and for any road congestion ahead.

  • well if you ever want to fix that frq off a kh you can it is pretty easy i will do a tutorial on how to in the next week. i like the radio. i am going to put it in my car when i get one. thanks for watching

  • That would be cool! Thank you.

  • I just ordered mine, a Galaxy dx-959 on SPARKY's CB SHACK. Everyone says this radio is great. Your radio is peaked and tuned? If so how many watts you get?

  • i tuned it myself and i also maxed out the power but its only a small change i put a watt meter on it it is a little over 4 almost 5.

  • u only get 5 watts out of this radio? It should do almost 30 watts after a good peak out

  • Ugh CB's....the only good they are is in emergencies (if the skiplanders aren't on) and for propagation beacons.

Cool that you use Vegas. Me too. Got it from a cool friend who works with sony.
