You do know this song has nothing to do with a girl/ romantic love? It's pretty much about the abuse Eliott Smith suffered at the hands of his stepfather, and how it continued to haunt him. Examples:

The lyrics are pretty clear when looked at in that cotext. Also note the "Thanks to Charlie" in the liner notes. (Charlie was his physically and sexually abusive stepfather.)
I liked this vid for the most part.I mean i like how you didn't give us a reason for 2:45 really but you did in a sense but Elliott didn't really.What i got from this is that a girl left the guy at 2:45 in the mourning.Pretty rocking.Peace.

I loved the TV fuzz at the end and beginning, very brilliant.
I liked it, though I dont feel that's what the song's really about.
