Somehow, I still prefer GNOME Shell 3.2 in Fedora 16 over the Mint 12 desktop and Windows 7 .. when users of tostoday and InfinitelyGalactic get their hands on F16 I would like to see how they compare it with Mint 12, Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7.
I'm currently using arch + xmonad and I love it. Tiling WMs are something that hasn't been pushed as much as gnome or kde, and while they do have a learning curve due to generally being keyboard based the power in not having to manage windows is a great productivity boost.
They make new OS really fast (i guess). Have i ever thanked you for introducing me to Linux? Well i had a virus infected Windows 7 computer. I checked your review on Linux Mint 11 and decided to test it. I am very pleased and i can say, i'm not going back to Windows. Heheh :)
I have win7 and mint12 dualboot both are 64-bit. I installed Mint12 with 1 gig DVD and it has much more complete GNOME desktop compared to newest Ubuntu! Win7 for me is only for modern games!
hey i am creating a linux os base on ubuntu i need some ideas what people want on there os people been asking compiz or gnome-shell i cannot use both because gnome have a graphical problem which cannot handle compiz and gnome shell is more like compiz anyway and what your Favourite apps on a linux os
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. I am using Linux all the way. Right now I feel much more secure and it is geared for people who are new to Linux and who came from windows and hate windows. I do every thing here in Ubuntu. It has been my favorite os since I started doing computer.
The Mint Menu *is* in Mint 12, because it irritates me that I can't get rid of it and just use the gnome 3 menu. I have it configured so they're both on the same panel bar and I only have the top bar with no bottom bar.
I really don't understand why Linux users want everything to look like it did in 2001. It's been 10 years people, the world has moved past Win XP and nobody except Linux users want their menus and windows to look like that anymore. Transparency for the win.
this is lame. you lost me on #4. Comparing Linux and Windows.....its just worlds apart. Its like you are almost apologetic about linux, lol. Anyway, I prefer Linux for the obvious reasons. As for the malware on the linux box. Would have liked some confirming information about that. Ive never seen malware on a linux box, although I know that it is possible. Too many generalities and platitudes here otherwise. But I am biased, I love linux.
@shanejoel2 It's cool, I suppose if Linux and Windows were in the same world then what could we compare? Contrast? Yeah, these podcasts are probably not for the biased :).
Maybe we could do a satire podcasts on rants, me doing Linux sucks and my partner doing Windows sucks? LOL. Oh, check quidsup channel on the malware thing...
@tostoday yah I understand, didnt mean to come off wrong. I am not the normal user by any means. I have converted around 30 people to linux though, its a great system for adults who just want their machine to work, and dont do the gaming thing.
Linux Mint Debian Edition is also a good one. But, not for new comers to Linux as much as for people with a little more experience.

@xXxStellaAquaticaXx So, you like Gnome better then Unity?
tostoday 1 month ago
@tostoday I don't really prefer one over the other, I use GNOME Shell because Fedora 16 has it by default.

Windows 8 is going to be shit! Linux better start doing something with the games.. ull get alot of community if you do so.

@MegaRusshich Games is the only reason I still have one Windows 7 computer. Linux and Mac OSX is on the other two.

That Kevin Macleod is a legend.
How about a video comparing LXDE vs Xfce? You could put the latest Lubuntu up against the latest Xubuntu.

@Laoch111 Yes to Kevin, maybe to L VS X.

@2111thekiller Well, having full multimedia codecs would be a good start...VLC, Rhythmbox apps, etc.
tostoday 2 months ago
@2111thekiller What about E17 Enlightenment Window Manager with Ecomorph (like compiz for E17)?

I'm dual booting suse and windows7.
And never used any AV, firewall, UAC or windows defender, never updated and i still don't have problems.
The key is that you don't download and click every ad you can see on the net.
