  • I want to use one of your videos for a presentation in my Cultural Diversity class(@ Columbus State Community College), but I don't know how to get it to my flash drive to show my class??My paper is on the sociologist views of welfare!!

  • WELFARE STATE.TAKE TAKE TAKE.

  • so you guys also have welfare in the UK, didn't know that, thought it was only existent in USA, cuz here in mexico, nothin', everybody gets by on their own, one way or another.=[

  • Arguments between the non-abused in forums is pointless. The abused, impoverished, jailed, and oppressed do not have voices. Palestinian children. Irish children in Catholic orphanages. North Korean rural peasants. Abused foster children in America. Abductees in rendition programs. Political prisoners in Bhurma. Parents of killed college students in China. The wheel of pain of 1st World gangs and their 3rd World whore govts. roll over the bruised and battered bodies of the humans without voices.

  • You are correct, but parents have to speak for their children. I'm curious why you'd include "Palestinian" children in that list, however. They fall under three different groups. 1) The "Palestinian state" of Jordan. 2( The "Palestinian state" of Gaza and parts of the West bank (A silly second one). And the so-called "Palestinians" in Israel who have the same vote as anyone else in Israel. To which are you referring?

  • Nothing has done more to create the poverty trap than the Welfare State. Read De Tocqueville's "Memoir on Pauperism" and see just how prophetic he was

  • When you reward anything, you get more of it. That's as true for any human behavior as any other animal. There's a reason garbage cans have lids. It's not to be mean and selfish toward vermin, it's just to keep vermin from breeding more and over running the neighborhood. Welfare denies that simple logic.

  • @wrjamescom dude that is the greatest comparison ive ever heard

  • I really don't think it matters here or there whether the US funds the British system. That's pretty unequivocal since had this been the case it would not have been for altruistic reasons. Also, the fact that your constitution is so stiff that your government has denied most of your population decent healthcare and education reflects well on the UK since we're a country that can run efficiently for its citizens even when indebted.

  • First of all seen as how most of you have obviously taken this video personally i would like to say this means nothing, we needed it to pass we really don't care what you lot have to say we got a good mark for it.

We didnt make the video for any message to be spread etc. so your wasting your time commenting on it.

Ps. Im not American and to be honest IM PROUD TO BE ENGLISH.

  • People will take it personally since you insulted Margaret Thatcher, when she is responsible for Britain's economic revival from being a hulking, embarrassing wreck and shadow of its former self

  • Right....ok then, i don't really understand why your getting so hyped up about this. Its just a video for some school work we had to do....get over it. And stop wasting your time commenting on it.

  • @Invirtuo Didn't she just hand the remaining wealth of the nation to the hands of the rich and then sell off or shut down most of the heavy industry for short term gain ?

Thank god we have the deregulated financial sector to fall back on... oh.

  • Why has Eurpoe's welfare state survived so long? Because since WW2, America finances much of its defense. If Europe had to support the full brunt of the guns and butter pressures, their welfare state would collapse much like the Soviet system did. You cannot afford both guns and butter in a planned economy.

  • Had America stuck to the constitutional mandate that only gold and silver can be legal tender, the cost of oil, food, health care and housing would have zero inflation. Instead, we had hyperinflation thanks to the welfare state. Funny that most countries leave out the cost of the aforementioned when calculating their rate of inflation. The US does with its "core inflation" rate. Inflation is a monetary phenomenon that can only be measured accurately by money supply.

  • What is ignored is how centrally planned inflation and devaluing of the currency, which is CENTRAL TO THE MODERN WELFARE STATE, actually increases poverty. How do you think we can pay for the welfare state because it sure isn't "free?" We pay for it through inflation, deificit financing, creating money out of thin air and borrowing it. Now the welfare states are collapsing under their own debt, deficits and devalued currency.

  • Oh, an unintelligent comeback from an uneducated person.

Sounds like you support Barack Obama! Now that's audacity.

Like I said, you ought to at least make an attempt at reading something worthwhile, rather than the generic crap that is spoon fed to the American people. Making a cute little youtube video about sociology, NOT economics, serves no purpose.

Glorifying the reallocation of wealth by force is idealistic. It's am imperfect world and government surely can't make it perfect.

  • Welfare doesnt work and neither do the people on welfare.

  • You're right! America is THE answer to all the worlds societies. It's better that its every man for himself and that the whole world experience patient-dumping, embarassing street scenes with homeless people and poverty everywhere. Let's also have a people whose educational and information level on average rivals that of a 10th grader in the nordic countries, easy-to-trick Americans as seen in the standard of U.S. TV comemrcials. Here's a toast to the free market model - may the best man win!

  • You obviously haven't educated yourself on free market economics. The "free market capitalism" that people think is evil is in reality not free in the true sense of the word.

I'd recommend reading text from thinkers such as Ludwig Von Mises, etc...

    ...precisely why youtube is worthless.

  • i'd recomend basic national economics and a comparrison to the U.S.

  • America hasn't been free market since 1913. We have been a centrally planned fiscal and monetary welfare state with corporations (which are NOT free market entities) leading the way to inflationary oblivion. The corporate model was thought the answer to the Marxian challenge of collective property ownership.

  • I think this video is powerful, but is let down by the text merging in with the images, making it difficult to read. Also, the text is running far too quickly for many people to get the message. I tried reading at my fastest and still on occasions missed the last line. Sorry, but it is just constructive criticism.

  • Nice idea but the text is too small to read

  • I truly agree. Thanks. (:

  • :) thats a rele great video, it reminded me of how lucky i am. i feel sorry 4 all the ppl in the pictures :(
