I want to know who exactly Ghost was. Was he a character somewhat like Gaz in MW1?

Theres a mission where you're running through the rebels' town, and ghost is with you. He's the guy with the ghost-faced mask during some missions

I know who he is. There's obviously some significance to him, but I can't put my finger on it. He's heard over the radio many a time, giving orders, etc.

Oh right, the significance of him. Well, Ghost is actually Sgt. Simon Riley, who is a new character but you don't find out his real name. There's not too much info on Ghost, but I know his name is Sgt. Simon Riley.

He was voiced by the voice actor of Gaz from the first game. That explains nay misconceptions.

Yeah, there is a lot of speculation on who Ghost is, because Ghost's voice comes from the same actor as Gaz, and "Gaz" could've been wearing the skull balaclava as to hide his disfigured face (when he got shot in Mw1).
