  • wow!

  • how is your computer not lagging with the shadow on with all those details?

  • @Pajijic

Err... because this is a rendered-out animation?

  • @timdanaher

it dosen't look rendered to me... with all those sketchup materials

  • @Pajijic Rendering doesn't mean that it's photoreal: 'rendering' is simply the production of an image by a computer. Ever heard of cartoon renderers? Cel renderers? Clay renderers. Educate yourself.

  • OMG gorgerous :O

  • lovely. reminds me a lot of the inner spirit of japanese gundams. thanks for posting.

  • Woow this is amazing! And i saw that you have 16GB of RAM holy craaappp I only have 0.99GB of ram my computer sucks

  • Cheers!

Check out the version posted as a video response...it's more accurate.

  • Hmm. You seem to be able to see my comments. I can't.

Anyway, maybe you don't want to give an 'opinion' about the canopy because *you* don't understand it, eh? The rest of your comments are typical second-year architecture school sophistry.

  • Comment removed

  • And you are perfectly able to interpret those intentions? But you don't want to offer an opinion about something where you 'don't master the architectural conception.'?

Indeed. So just post meaningless bollocks about it, then.

"Whereof know we not, thereof must we remain silent" would seem to be good advice in your case.

  • Structural vocabulary : " Open Architecture "

" Angels (...) fly wherever they want "

  • Translation (for those of you who just might not happen to speak French):

"Wings, arcs and girders cross and re-cross in a fragmented construction, cracked, about-face, impaled, shattered trajectories.

"The goal is dematerialisation ... the angels know neither the heights nor the depths, neither right angles nor gravity...they fly where they will."

Fuck. And is it any wonder that most of the public think that architects are pretentious wankers?

    Please. Spare me.

  • So ...

Why do u share architectural shoots ? ...

  • diffenrence between u and the architect u just publish something u don't understand on a youtube page, just for ur self satisfaction of being able to produce such work and the architect who translate his feelings into his architecture

said with all my respect for ur work

  • Or maybe I did it not 'just to reproduce' it, as you so disparagingly put it, but rather because I wanted to understand the structure and the detailing? Do you think?

Please feel free to tell me what my intentions were when I decided to do this.

  • The building itself reminds me of the polymorphic metallic "thing" from Autechre's Gantz Graf video.

  • N ice idea 1 sub for u

  • Nice image quality, and great compu! somthing like us:)

  • your animation is loading:

estimated time remaining: 76 days 15 hours

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • what computer do u have ? cuz this must be huge !! plz tell me

  • I have an 8-core Mac Pro with 16GB of RAM.

...although I'd like to think my modelling skills had a little more to do with it...;0)

Check out some of the high-res videos of this that I've posted (in Video responses).

  • ya sorry i didnt mention that its a great model some people think less of sketch up as a modeling program im a very heavy sketch up user but when i model something this complex it usally crashes thats y i asked about your mac lol

  • Whoops, I removed your other comment.

There are two, a free one from Dassault Systèmes...3DVia, the other is BonZai, from form*Z

Both are still in beta at the moment.

  • great.

  • you must have one heck of a computer to run tht.

  • niceee niceeeeeee

look at the stadiums ive made on google sketchup .. i havnt found better

  • i downloaded this and its so confuseing

  • Where did you download it from?

  • i downloaded it from the goolge site it has all the tutorials on there but i still dont get it lol

  • Could you give me the link?

I've never uploaded this to the Google site or written any tutorials on it...it would be interesting to see how other people have approached it.

  • just brilliant.I'm speechless

  • Thanks, Sergiu...

Check out the other videos -- I've re-posted a better model of this in hi-resolution video.

    Enjoy!

  • become an architect, now!!!

  • Read the description, now! ;0)

  • oh, snap but still amazing model

  • An amazing bit of architecture.

The only good thing they've ever done, IMO...twenty years on, they're still struggling with that "difficult second album".

  • what is the advantage of smax with SU?

  • eh?

  • hwo do u render

  • what the heck you mean, apeng?

  • definitely a great tool and much faster than max or anything else for creating quick initial models/sketch. Personally, i am thinking of learning it more and then use it to quickly block out the model and transfer it to max to refine it and render. But the free version doesnt allow transfer to .3ds, so will have to buy the pro one....

  • wow, good job man!

are you using Beziel curves for the animation or a separate program/software?

ive been using sketchup for almost 3 years now and still dont know how to create animation for my models. jeez, any suggestions? thanks..

  • This was just done using the standard Page/Scene tweening in SU.

  • Why don't you just use 3D max... :/

  • Because SketchUp is far easier to use...?

  • I tried using Sketch Up and sure it's easier to learn but I think it's harder to use. You don't get as much control as you get with say Max, Maya or even Blender. The tool set is rather limiting in my humble opinion. I kind of feel bad for you since you said that took you 2 years to do that. o.o

Wont you give the other programs a try? The time it takes you to learn a 'high end 3D package' can save you time down the line.

  • Please, spare me the sentiment.

This has taken me two years because it's a private project for my own satisfaction, I work on it in my spare time (when I get some) I've got no measured drawings, I'm eyeballing it from photographs, and every time I find out a new detail, I return to the model and refine it.

The first model I did of this I built in under three days.

  • Very impressive!

    How long did it take?

  • About two years...and I still haven't got the damn thing right...check out the more-accurate version posted as a response.

  • This is incredible, well done, absolutely brilliant - i only wish my CAD skills were as good as this

  • Thank you, Phil, but *please* check out the model posted as a response -- it's more accurate.

  • Did you draw this on Cad and import into sketchup?? or all drawn in sketchup?? Its onreal man, love the design.

Im working on a retail outlet in Dublin at the moment. But im drawing it all on cad, pain in the ass, probly use sketch up for 3d rendering.

    anyway good work man..

  • Thanks -- it's 100% done in SketchUp. Check out the model posted as a video response -- it's more accurate. Also the HDRI renders. Fantastic design, but I can't take the credit for it, if that's what you mean...it's by Coop Himmelb(l)au.

  • The feeling of the structure collapsing onto you certainly gives a unique experience once within the space. If that's what you wanted to achieve then nice job and well designed.

  • Err..not me. The clue's in the title: Coop Himmelb(l)au.

  • that model is awsome. congratulations

  • Thanks!

But *PLEASE* look at no. 5 and leave some comments there (it's MUCH more accurate, and is posted as a video response to this video).

  • I think this project is amazing. Is this sketch-up? It looks incredible. I am unable to animate my designs. How do you start an animation?

  • Thanks.

SketchUp > Help > Search > Animation will tell you what you need to know.

Why don't you look at the version that I've posted as a video response? It's much more accurate...

  • the edges aren't hidden and the model doesn't look completely realistic

  • Well, thanks for your incredibly constructive comments, you mealy-mouthed twunt.

¿Quisieras intercambiar tus obras con nosotros, a ver cómo se lo debería hacer, Mangaboy?

  • holy shit!

  • Thanks -- don't forget to look at the video of number 5 (above in responses) It's even holier shit ;0)

  • D4MNN O_O so nice!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, but please look at no. 5 (in the video response above). It's a much better, more accurate model -- and leave some comments / ratings there!

  • hello ! can you share this model ?

  • No, sorry...I've got a LOT of time invested in this -- and it's not actually finished yet.

However, I'm trying to make it available via 3D PDF from my site (once I can get the 3D PDF password protected).

  • woooooh....... thats good

  • if you still look at your vids pleaese tell me what you did to get your transparent textures.. im slightly new to this and need to make some of my faces transpaernt

  • SketchUp>Help>Search>Type "Transparency"

  • sketchup god

  • Great Architecture! Ist like Daniel Liebeskind, Deconstructivismstyle.

    Ciao.

  • I don't know why everyone keeps leaving comments on this outdated model... I appreciate you all taking the time, but the latest, far more accurate model is No. 5 -- just look for it under my other videos. I've also posted it as a video response to this video -- so you can get to it from there...

    Ta,

    Tim

  • Really cool! But I'm wondering where the front is...

  • Well, given that is is a deconstructivist roof extension seven storeys above street level, I don't think the terms 'Front' and 'Back' apply here...;0)

  • Nice! but no music

  • Muy bien amigo, me gustó mucho,, Bien, Saludos

  • ¡Muchas gracias! Pero ésto (Numero 3) está lejos de ser el mejor ejemplo. No sé porque atraye siempre todos los comentarios...

¿Porqué no echas un vistazo a los demás (no. 5?), y los renderings de HDRI?

    Chau, Tim

  • Really impressive, I didnt know SketchUp could get this good. Nice work!

  • nice work man..... I really like it.

  • i think the animation was done in autocad/architectural desktop (walk-through)but the rendering was done in sketchup

  • archvin -- wrong.

The entire thing was modelled, rendered and animated in SketchUp.

  • fuck you timdanaher, you can't animate like this on sketchup so don't speak like you know everything about computer rendering.

  • Well, archvin, maybe YOU can't "animate like this on SketchUp", but I certainly can. Since I actually made this model and animated it "on SketchUp", I think I'm in a better position to comment on it, don't you?

I await your further comments / apologies with interest.

  • okay dude, nicely done! you happy now? sheez.. oh, and here's your comment: nice CARTOON man! Aaahww!

  • Yes, SketchUp is rather good at simulating traditional hand-drawn architectural rendering styles, don't you think?

Well, archvin, I think you have beeen -- as you young people say -- comprehensively 'Pwned' on this one.

Your jaw-dropping ingnorance has found you out, and yet you still don't have the basic decency to admit it.

So, would you just go away and play with your toys now, little boy?

  • haha, my hero :]

i'm working on a model right now

wanting to make it amazing! :]]

  • duuuude...5 stars

  • Amazing architecture...I adore its design!

  • Really nice.Is this modeled and rendered in sketchup? And by whom?By U? Excelent job...
