i rememeber when i was little, my familly was very poor. On Christmas night we had nothing on the table, only potatoes. And suddenly the doorbell rang. We opened the door and there was a priest from the church i used to visit. He had a fool bag of food. Nothing fancy, just some basic stuff like bread, flour, pasta and sugar. It's funny when i remember how happy i was to see sugar. Later he visited us and gave us these shoe boxes. And the love for Jesus and his helpers never left me.
I have been doing boxes for years and for the past few years I have been doing both a boy and a girl. I often wondered who will get my boxes because I send the children a letter but I never got one back. My sister did get a letter once from a girl in Mexico.
Just look at those beautiful happy faces! We put a toothbrush & toothpaste in every box. We had a young lady that came to our church last year to tell us about when she was 10 years of age and had received a box. She was SO happy to have her very own toothbrush and lip gloss and hair bands! She is now working with Operation Shoe Box and has just finished college in the U.S. and is traveling to Haiti this year to help unload boxes. She told us how a simple shoe box changed her life.
During Pakistan Earthquake 2005 I was Working in the disaster hit areas of Pakistan and working as a assistant program manager ... our organization also received gifts and the feeling of the children who received those gifts were so overwhelming that i can't explain it in words.... God Bless Samaritan's Purse
I remember living in Russia and getting those shoe boxes. Now i live in USA, have a great job and God blessed me so much. I am so happy and blessed now to do this for others as i remember how special it was for me as a kid!
Just letting you know all, it might a little help from your point of view, but for those who get this present its BIG! And they grew up they will remember that someone carried for them. Because i certainly do!
@slivovich we met a lady at our church last year that recieved a box. She lived in Kenya. She is now also in the U.S., just finished college and is now helping to spread the word. God bless you.
I totally agree with Babywolf, i sent a box last year through a christian friend and to see a needy child over christmas enjoying presents makes me happy but god doesn't drive me to do this, helping a fellow person out worst off than myself does... its a shame there isn't a charity that could supply these boxes that isn't faith driven!
@scammelnutz without God and faith, these children would only be receiving boxes with perishable gifts. The gospel is shared with them for them to have hope in a Savior that loves them. Love is by far the bigger message in all of this than just a box full of stuff.
Those are not the smiles of children with dozens of toys at home. Those are children who are grateful, who are overwhelmed. I am also overwhelmed at this wonderful, practical opportunity to give my Jesus a birthday present! Thank you, OCC!
Really babywolf, grow up. I went to church as a child & did several summers of vacation bible school, and believe me there certainly wasn't any evil. Actualy , even though I didn't keep the faith as an adult, I have nothing but fond memories of those generous and loving people. What evil could you possibly see in this?
Anyway, I'm completely psyched to do the box this year. I did two last year, and it was wonderful to know that I could make a child so happy. It's a beautiful thing.
We were recipients of what you have done. Just click on the video response see what happened in our church on a very special "CHRISTMAS in APRIL". Thank you once again!
