He said that Snake is suppose to be an American outlaw and that he should be played by an American. I agree with him. Snake is the anti-hero american we all wish we could be. They are seriously considering Josh Brolin for the role. I think Kurt Russell should just play Snake one more time even if he is getting close to 60 years old. Kurt Russell IS Snake Plissken.

@kinddave27 They are actually at work with a remake of the original Escape from New York, which will have somewhat of a back story, showing Plissken at war [This time with the Middle East instead of Leningrad], how New York City is the victim of a dirty bomb or chemical warfare attack, thus rendering it uninhabitable, so seeing this, the government decides to convert it into a prison for the entire country, and you will be seeing the first prisoners, which include The Duke, who enter the prison.

The last rumors were Timothy Olyphant and Jeremy Renner, but as far as I know the remake is just stuck in development hell and probably not going to happen anytime soon. They should just tell John Carpenter, "You can have full creative control," and let him and Russell have at it with their "Escape From Earth" concept.

There are rumors flying around that Jeremy Rainor from Hurtlocker and The Town is in the running for Snake Plissken. I don't think he is a great fit to be honest...

I mean, that's what they did with Kurt, his acting experience at that point was mostly in Disney movies and other kid-friendly stuff, so people were surprised that he would be in a role like this. I think that for the remake they need to do the same. They don't have anything to lose, as it's almost a given that a remake would suck anyway

@ar2014 well i can't be a judge since my Escape From L.A. still hasn't come in the mail from Netflix, but I will be damned if I will let any person disrespect Snake Plissken and the Escape series. It's better then any Dystopian-related film ass-of-yet so don't complain because you can't find flaws in the plot of the movies, the only bad thing you can think of is the special effects in Escape From New York when Plissken shot the wall out and jumped through styrofoam and rammed throu sheet metal.

Too be fair, I am a HUGE Sanke Plisskin fan. However, I would have enjoied this movie much more if it hadn't been a xerox copy of the first movie with minor modifacations.

Don't get me wrong, I love distopic movies, and this was a good one...it just lacked the original punch all John Carpenter movies have.

This movie was not as bad as its reputation, that being said, it was not a good film, but was definitely enjoyable and I did not have to work to watch it. The first one was just too good and this one just a bad copy made forJohn carpenter and Kurt Russell to make more money off of characters they already established. (Which didn't happen)

@mfranko989 The Escape from New York theme was much quieter and gave a much stealthier feel to the movie. This movie, Escape from L.A, was a generally louder film, with less stealthy quiet scenes. The movie was a bit more All Guns Blazing than the first, so it makes sense that the theme song thrashes more ass than the first one =)
