  • He speaks differently to how i'd have imagined (high voice)

To a large extent I agree with his Bach/Czerny comparison though ironically enough i think if these studies do have any virtue it's that *some* of them are surprisingly expressive in their own right.

  • @marcxopoco It is the recording. I've heard him live and on many other recordings and his technique is perfect, certainly not heavy. His playing is very fluid and light

  • @marcxopoco Listen to chopin etudes op.10 nr.2 ,op.25 nr.2 with him.nothing heavy about it.Perrahia is in a class of his own.Exceptional sonority and master musician. We should not critisize pianists like him.

  • @abmsghost1 ,

Josef Lhevinne, Simon Barer, Moriz Rosenthal, Ignaz Friedman, Josef Hofmann could play Chopin Etudes.

    Not the pathetic Murray Perahia.

  • @marcxopoco are you an idiot? Friedman? Have you even listened to his recordings of them? They're hardly playing. And the Lhevinne only played op.25 6 and 11, hardly the hardest of the lot. Read a book about him and you'd realise he struglled with the opus 10 nos 1 and 2, the most difficult ones.

  • Youtube authority @wagneristhebest has just informed us that the Chopin Etude in thirds, opus 25 #6

is "hardly the hardest of the lot."

Halfwitted wagneristheworst has posted an all time clueless Yourtube poster classic.

  • @marcxopoco hahahahhah good one! are you a pianist? have you played the etudes? read the rest of my comment.

  • Cretin @wagneristhebest says the Chopin Etude in Thirds is "hardly the hardest of the lot."

Youtube --the home of the clueless.

  • @marcxopoco opus 10 no.1 and 2 are the hardest of the lot - so yes, hardly:)

  • What @wagneristhebest knows about piano playing he could write on the head of a pin---and still have room for his name and address.

  • @marcxopoco Why do you feel so highly qualified to comment so authoritatively and tell others they no nothing?

  • @marcxopoco What is your problem?! So everyone who is dead was great and everyone living is pathetic? Your arrogance is astonishing!

  • Thank you very much for posting this . Could you please, post a whole masterclass. I'm really courious about it.

  • whats the name of this piece?

  • @Rolland91 Prelude 3 in C-sharp major from the Well-Tempered Clavier book 1, BWV 848

  • @ploschad thnx a lot :)

  • So that would make him less admirable as a musician?! Come on!

  • Perahia interpretiert den Geist von Bach wirklich Perfekt !

    i love it

  • What a gem.... !

  • I'M SO JEALOUS!!!!! :((((((( You got to meet Murray Perahia!

  • he sounds like a real friendly guy lol

  • Murray is the one

  • "use the technique for expressing musical ideas"

    simply 5***** !!!

  • noooooooo wheres the rest of it ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Is there anyway you can get the whole video?!?! That would be awesome : )

  • uggh...., need the whole thing, this is just a teaser

  • You're a douchebag. Seriously. MP is probably the best American pianist alive today.

  • Hey I happen to love Perahia's playing, just having a little fun. ;)

  • your absolutely right! No doubt about it!

  • Way to copy Stephen Colbert... real original.

  • Oh come on! Why ruin it for me? :S

  • Holy, I just noticed today that that stage seemed familiar... I performed on that stage during the GIna Bachauer International Piano Competition... sigh... I didn't make it past the preliminaries, though.

  • what was that demonstration eh was playing?

  • The well tempered clavier by J.S. Bach, praeludium 3 in C sharp Minor (usually track 6 on CD of book 1 of the well tempered clavier).

  • It's actually in C sharp major

  • No, if you listen he says, "Sadness. . . you'll get it in the next one, C sharp minor." Which is true. The next P/F is kind of melancholy and is definitely in C sharp minor.

  • to peterhokland, the master class is too short, can u post the rest of them thank you

  • How on earth did the University of Utah get Murray Perahia to come to Salt City? Wow!

  • Usually these things happen as a result of the artist being in town to give a performance (or had already played the night before).

  • me too i thought he had a deep voice!! still, wise words from a true master, perahia's bach is unparalleled on the piano
