now, dy saveth, tith vicharadany, ruos serey sothea, etc, were all beautiful, but kim nova was the most beautiful of them all. not bcoz she was my half-aunt (she was my father's younger half-sister, common father), but bcoz it's the truth. their father (my grandfather) was an officer of the cambodian military of the same generation & same echelon as lon nol, who was his comrade & buddy. sadly he passed away in the 1950s.

I love this! I love old Khmer songs and the wonderful art you have preserved here! Khnyum srolanh srok khmae! Oh, it's such a wonderful old song! Cambodia in the 1960's and 1970's was so "hip"--it was "Cambodia Interrupted" when the year zero crowd came around, outlawed fun, and spoiled everything!

There was quite a few Cambodian movie star in her time,I think Tith Vicharadany was the best movie star in that time.Dy Saveth was famous because she was rigorously promoted by her producer first husband named Huy Koeung.Her talent was not as good as Am Po Tevy who is now living in USA.

Dy Saveth was the 1st Khmer beauty pageant in 1959 and began her acting career in 1962. Vichara Dany began acting in 1967 but swept Cambodia with her talent. Ompor Tevi was also a great actress of the 90s who starred in most Khmer 90s films. There all my 3 favorite actresses of all times.

Right now, the Rap crap and annoying Hip Hop are the worst music ever in history of music. The 60's, 70's, and 80's were the best decades, in terms of music.

There are hardly any Khmer 80s and 90s songs released on cd or dvd today. I would like to listen to them but then you'd have to gather the small cassettes. I don't remember Khmer music being common in the 1980s right after the Khmer Rouge, do you have any songs from that time you would like to share.

Oh yeah! I have plenty. Mostly cassette tapes. Like Keo Saratt, Choy Sopheap, Ny saloeun,and many more... But it's hard to share with anyone right now. I' m so busy, don't have time to down load them on the internet.

come on - there's just no comparison! Dy Saveth was "bovor kanha erk" in the early 1960's. Sothea would have ended up on khmer movie screen if she was as beautiful as Dy Saveth. After all Sothea started singing in 1966 or so and had plenty of time to impress movie makers, if her beautiful voice is complemented with physical beauty. just my opinion too.

Ros Serey Sothea was actually cast into a few movies in the early 70s. One of them being directed by Sinn Sisamouth. Her last film never had a screening as the Khmer Rouge was closing in on the capital.
