  • Like the video.

Javier Bardem(no country for old men) has been asked to play roland in the dark tower film set to be directed by ron howard.

check out my dark tower trailer if you get the chance

  • they're actually making a movie and a TV series out of the dark tower

  • @monkeypoo3000 are they? have you got any information on it? im interested

  • @TheKylar thats all i know

  • @monkeypoo3000 okay, thank you.

  • Either Viggo Mortensen or Josh Holloway for Roland!

  • @Theriot6592 Wow, Viggo Mortensen doesn't sound half-bad. Always wondered who could play Roland.

  • This was freaking awesome.

  • That was pretty cool but i guess you couldnt find somewhere that looked like a desert....

  • Actually, Sam Worthington might be a worthy candidate to play Roland, just because he's got the most intense eyes of any actor in Hollywood right now, though he may not be seasoned enough.

  • Make that four personalities.

    I forgot Mia

  • gerard butler would be a good gunslinger for the movies

  • Willam DaFoe (Spiderman) for Martin

    Leo Dicaprio (Inception) for Eddie

Jacob Kogan (Star Trek) as Jake

John Rys-Davies (Lord of the Rings) as Blaine the Mono

Rutina Wesley (True Blood) as Susannah

Judith Roberts (Dead Silence) as Rhea of the Coos

Jackie Earle Haley (Nightmare of Elmstreet) for Roland, anybody?

  • I don't wanna take a gander at who should play Susan Delgado cuz what that little girl goes through is gonna give this movie an NC-17 rating if its ever made.

  • @Jgrado1

Some good choices there dude. Me personally,

James Purefoy (Solomon Kane) for Roland Deschain

Tom Hardy (Bronson, Inception, Rocknrolla) for Eddie Dean

Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar) for Susannah

Haley Joel Osmand (Sixth Sense, Pay it forward) for Jake Chambers (though i fear he may be too old now to play him)

Sam Rockwell as The Man in Black, Randall Flagg, Walter, Martin etc

    Ed Harris for Cort

    Viggo Mortensen as Steven Deschain

  • @novelist24 Interesting.

You really think Saldana could pull off having no legs, 3 personalities, and sex with a snow beast?

Jackie Earl Haley may be a lil short for the role but he's definitely scary enough to take out a whole village single-handed.

  • @Jgrado1

It would be a tough one for her but with the right direction yeah I think so.

I'm a big Jackie Earl Haley fan but I'm not seeing him as Roland.

What is the news with the movie I heard JJ Abrams pulled out of making it

  • @novelist24

    JJ's out.

Ron Howard's in. (God help us if Roland's character goes to Tom Hanks)

From what I hear, JJ's writing crew got too scared.

  • @Jgrado1

I heard that Ron Howard was in, that's not good...

Justin Bieber as Jake... can you imagine the horror!!!!

  • @novelist24

I can imagine a few horrors with the making of this film (if its to be).

Howard typically goes for academy award winning actors, not MTV celebrities....

    Oh God help me...

Helena Bohnam Carter as Cordelia Delgado (probably the most unforgivable character in the series)

  • @novelist24

I don't know who Carter would freak me out more as: Cordelia Delgado or Rhea the perverted juice-monger. I honestly couldn't consider two worse roles.

  • chafa

  • One of the really good trailers - without any known actors - because Roland is Roland and can't be compared to Clint Eastwood or anybody else.

  • Hugh Jackman would be an awesome Roland. So would Josh Brolin.

  • hugh jackman or josh holloway could be roland. clint is very old...

  • viggo mortenson as roland? i cant imagine any famous actor that would be better, although i think maybe a good unknown actor would be quite good, and then more well known suporting actors like eddie and susannah.

  • Only one thing, NEEDS MOAR DESERT, but yeah the beach was everything I imagined. Guy at the end is just as I thought Walter would look like.

  • I PLEAD WITH THE BEAMS AND GAN HIMSELF TO KEEP KING ALIVE LONG ENOUGH TO OVERSEE AND IF NEED BE, DIRECT THESE MOVIES!!

    BANGO SKANK 1999.

oh and by the way JJ ABRAMS HAS FORGOTTEN THE FACE OF HIS FATHER!!!!

  • I Think Christian Bale would be good as character "Roland."

  • This is fucking cool! Long days and pleasant nights to you sai for making this.

  • i'm about 90+ pages into the gunslinger and have no idea what the number 19 means. will it ever be revealed (either in this book or some other volume of the dark tower series)? thanx.

    nice trailer btw.

  • @rsuriyop:

Yes, it will be revealed to you, but not for some time yet.

  • Cool to see one of these as an original project rather than cutting together movie clips. I liked Flagg's little grin at the end :)

  • Clint Eastwood -the ultimate gunslinger-and he looks the part of Roland!

  • This trailer looks like it was made on devilgrass.

  • I think Peter Weller would be a great actor to play Roland.

  • I almost wet myself when 19 flashed up,Hugh Laurie would be a good Roland, but you could never become Roland,he is to much to become.

  • Maybe Christian Bale or Viggo Mortensen for Roland a.k.a. The Gunslinger. (Christian Bale has already been named the number one contender for the part).

    Smit-Mcphee as Jake.

And Jamey Sheridan as Randall Flagg (cause he portrayed Randall in The Stand.)

And yes, a movie is in the works.

  • Not anymore. The project was dropped.

  • @buckleygeneration

    NO MORE MOVIE?

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • Sorry. Look it up. JJ Abrams is no longer tied to the movie, anyway, and it doesn't seem like anyone's up for the project.

  • I think a completely unknown actor should play Roland. If that is not an option, I vote for Hugh Laurie (JUST IMAGINE THE AWESOMENESS).

  • Sorry, Nowzies, but I already had the casting leaked to me...

    Roland...Paul Reubens

    Eddie Dean...Gary Busey

    Susanna...that "Shirley Q. Liquor" guy

    Jake...McCaulay Culkin, circa 1991

    Oy...the "Taco Bell" chihuahua

    bummer...

  • Paul Reubens? That's kind of funny, I guess. Bu Macaulay Culkin? That's pushing it too far.

  • we define HIM from those roles just like any actor playing Roland should be defined by his role as Roland, NOT any roles before that. Incidentally, King has said many times he based Roland's character off of Cling Eastwood's early acting roles.

As for Viggo, shut up. The road sucked as a move, go read the book again and this time think about how it worked...as atmosphere you couldn't adapt to a movie, then think about how Roland's character can't ever be adapted by someone we know.

  • we're going to attach our impressions and feelings from his previous roles to his acting as Roland- He could never be Roland... he could only be _____ (whatever actor's name) playing Roland. I think the actor needs to be someone NONE of us knows, and if he does a good job... we'll all know him as "Roland" after that.

Sort of the same as how everyone knows Cling Eastwood, but his name conjures up visions of the chatracter his first roles as "WIld West hero-cowboy-The VIrginian"...

  • The best person to play Roland would be someone who fits King's description of Roland, wouldn't it?

He is described as a man we all recognize, but could never really know, someone identifiable only by physical descriptions and never anything about the underlaying personality. We learn very little very slowly over the course of Dark Tower (DT). The series is seven books long, you need to reveal a character over these books. Any actor we know; (someone who has a career and previous roles)

  • Dennis Hopper was born to play Randell Flagg. I think you would all agree if you thought about it a bit more.

Jason Statham as Roland... if he can do an American dialect

  • james caviezel for roland wtf? more like viggo mortensen!! i´m unsure about eddie but jada pinkett smith is even better as rosario dawson and kurt nielsen as the man in black (casinoroyalelechiffre)

  • James Caviezel or Gerard Butler for Roland, Ryan Reynolds as Eddie with Jada Pinkett Smith as Susannah and the kid from Birth as Jake

  • i hope the kid actor is actually good...jake is a pretty tough kid to act out

  • jada pinket smith could play sussannah

  • Oh man... and to think I thought I was the only one who thought Viggo should play as Roland... I'm glad I'm not the only one hah. This short movie rocks! kudos.

  • YOU GUYS NEED TO WAKE UP. Christian Bale all the way XDD

O.0' I agree though Viggo Mortenson would be awesome for the part. Or maybe Hugh Jackman. xD

btw, ROCKN video chere! It's cool that you were able to get your own footage and not just bum off another movie or something. <333

  • It would have been awesome if there was talking between Roland and Jake and at the end Jake says, "Go then, there are other worlds than these." That would've topped it off.

  • seems like Owen Wilson would fit as eddie in a movie.

  • Viggo Mortenson or Javier Bardem (remember there are such things as contacts) for Roland.

  • guess what stephen king is making the movie called bag of bones that coming on 2011

  • Bullshit! Roland is based on a Clint Eastwood Character; old but still way better then Craig! And Walken as Flagg??? What the f... is wrong with you? Javier Bardem is the man!

  • i think he'd be perfect for wireman if they ever did an adaptation of duma key, javier bardem that is

  • ehhh craig could pull it off, actually. eastwood is ancient. lol christopher walken.

  • clint shuld be roland's father

  • @RadictheHuman i totally agree!

  • My suggestions:

Roland - Daniel Craig (only actor I can think of having 'the eyes')

    Walter/R.F. - Christopher Walken

  • Who would play Roland?

  • Daniel Day-Lewis

  • Interesting choice, I wouldn't have thought of him, but it could work

  • i thought so, it might be the tiniest bit of a stretch because if u know daniel day lewis, u know his characters are usually pretty hardcore and roland has his charming moments but i'm sure he could pull it off well before christian bale could, plus his age is closer roland's in the beginning. who for eddie? since i'm not available i'd have to say either an unknown or leo dicaprio. annnnd i'm not familiar with many black actresses, maybe halle berry.

  • i'm thinking Adrien Brody *go to google images* he played jack in king kong, the writer *but look at his pics* he's rugged, tough, handsome and he can kick ass....that's the qualities that Roland has *no homo*

if you agre or disagree say yes or no and why please

  • I say Viggo Mortensen.

  • whats this music called

  • The song is "Push The Limits" (Atb Remix) by Enigma

  • This is actually very well done! Great vision!

  • -_-

  • love it... love it...The Dark Tower is brilliant.

  • Abrams and Lindeloff have the rights to a film. They aren't sure if they will do it though, but if so will be after Lost finishes up.

  • Very, very well done.

  • sweet video

  • One of the few good fan trailers out there. AWESOME!

  • very nice, I like it

  • BEST ENIGMA REMIX EVER!!!!!!!

  • Actually, the best person I can think of that would have the best skills and looks to match: Benico Del Toro. Imagine him with ice-blue contact lenses, he'd be perfect. He has that "minimalism" thing going like Clint Eastwood had in The Man With No Name series of spaghetti westerns.

  • umm... how bout thomas jane as roland... i dont really know. u know if u watch the movie once upon a time in the west charles bronson looks kinda like roland i supose.

  • I still think Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost) would be good as Roland cos he is kind of steely. Someone quoted "That chick from 28 days later" for Suzanna - I think she would be good, she is also the rasta lady from the third pirates of the caribean. I think she could be versatile enough

  • i would say the band of brothers COMPTON

  • i'm reading the dark tower books and i'm on the waste lands i'm getting threw them really quick and they are fucking amazing

    just wanted to say lol

  • Kudos on the trailer! That was pretty cool. Here's my theory for actors; Roland: James Earl Jones. Eddie: Ludacris. Susan: Rossie O'Donnell. Jake: Jerry Seinfeld. And of course the Crimson King himself should be played by the most evil of all actors...ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER! hahahahahahahaha I crack me up!

  • all the main parts in a Dark Tower would HAVE to be a new face, no big-name people. think about it, it would totally ruin the mystique of the story if roland was played by tom cruise or something. i sincerely hope that if a movie comes out about the books, that all the parts are played by unknown actors.

  • i totally agree with that, but y'know, they would have to be good. i think it's most likely that the director would end up paying for a big-name actor just because they wouldn't mess it up acting wise. I hope they would get no name actors though.

  • if tom cruise plays roland we'll have to kill him for it. i have a feeling there will be a few big names. nobody seems to fit the part of roland though. nobody has the look and the right voice/attitude for it. Sam Elliot, clint eastwood, and hallie berrie will be in it i think

  • even if tom cruise wasn't a big name i think he'd be a sucky roland

  • Totally agree....unless you want Roland to be gay. Nothin against the gay folk out thar...how about Vigo Mortensen?

  • That's who i think too!! Viggo would make a perfect Roland, he can put his hand to anything.

  • Javier Bardem is the only person I can imagine being Roland

  • can you count? o.O

  • Daniel Craig (the new James Bond) as Roland would be excellent.

Mark Wahlberg as Eddie would be interesting, but I'm afraid he's too old. I always pictured Mickey Rourke as Eddie when I read the books.

I think Roland should have a slight British accent.

  • hahaha you're a joke

  • And you're an assclown.

  • ...whatever

  • hows aboot this?

    Al Pacino as Gasher...

    hmm?

  • hugh laurie as Roland...

  • daniel day-lewis as roland jake gellenhal as eddie

halle berry as susannah steve bushemi as henry dean

clint eastwood as father callahan benenicio del toro as walter

    haley joan-osmonde as jake

what do ya think may it do ya

  • thats pretty damn good if i do say so my self

how about johnny depp as eddie dean or maybe even bradd pitt

    and viggo mortensen as roland?

    long days and pleasant nights.

  • no no no no no ,,, Viggo maybe. big names = bad movies. Roland especially needs to be a "new face". i just think Viggo would be pretty perfect where as he sticks to his roots and has always played a pretty low key bad ass part.

    HALLE BERRY???? so bad

Benecio is a good idea for walter ill give that you.

  • I say Mel Gibson as Father Callahan

  • that's....actually not a bad idea haha

  • My choices are Kieffer Sutherland or Liam Nesson for Roland, Robin Williams or Gabriel Buryne for The Man in Black, and Me as Eddie. (were i to loose a few pounds you understand)

  • wonder what the calla would look like

  • Christian Bale could be a good Roland, liked him in three ten to yuma :-)

  • I think Christian Bale is a great actor dont get me wrong but I think he has been defined in too many other movies to be a great Roland. Thats what The Dark Tower would need

  • I don't know. I always saw Roland as a little more gristled looking. Like Clint Eastwood, but he is too old now. Someone like a young Clint Eastwood. Some have suggested Viggo Mortensen.

  • pretty good

  • Very cool. I liked the birds flying in front of the tower.

  • Awesome work!

  • Great job.

  • Oh my God. ...that shack on 00:11 is EXACTLY how I envisioned the shack the three boys stayed in. That's totally blowing my mind. The only difference is where the door is on the part nearest to the camera. That. is. FREAKY! Great job man.

  • If they ever do make a movie I wonder who Roland would be. Who would make a perfect Eddie? most of all, how would they make Oy?

  • Well, considering the amazing job they did making Golem "live" for LOTR, I'm sure movie wizards could create a wonderful billy-bumbler.

But who would play Roland? Clint Eastwood, of course, when he was younger...but now? Hmm. Some people like Viggo Morgenstern for the role (not my choice). Hugh Jackman as young Roland? Possible. Most of the perfect choices are too old now (Eastwood, Lance Henrikson, Tommy Lee Jones).

What about Gabriel Bryne? Damned talented actor.

  • I suppose Oy would be animated... I really hope they can get this good if King decides to let them do a movie. Something with as much work as they did on the LotR movies.

  • they're doing it as a movie.

the guy that directed the Lost series is doing it

  • I'm not sure but I heard that it's not decided yet.

  • last i heard the Lost guy agreed. i don't keep up with it myself, but one of my friends looks up all this stuff

  • I looked it up... the Lost guy has agreed to do a suggestion for a movie, but Stephen King will have to accept the suggestion in order for them to continue with doing a real movie.

  • Which one? What's the character name from Lost or the actors name? I must know this!!

  • Um... I'm not sure :S I tried to look it up again, but I can't find the article anymore. I suppose it's the guy who directed the Lost-series?

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

  • Here's a quote fromthe site Lilja's Library; a very good info site when it comes to Stephen King:

"I asked Steve for clarification on this and his response was that no deal has been finalized. If and when one is, it will be a 3 year option which he will sell them for $19. I can tell you from experience that there have been many times when an option has expired before a film is made so even an option doesn't mean it's a done deal."

The quote itself comes from King's official Message Board.

  • They should really do it in a series like harry potter. Trying to cram all of that would really miss out on SOOOOOO many plot points and such. Im still excited though.

  • cramming all that in one movie would be impossible unless you put it out on like 10 discs. as far as i know, the first movie will be The Gunslinger, the second will be The Drawing of the Three, and so on. i have a friend that's looking into all of this so i get my info from him

  • I hope so man. Im just hoping they do the books justice.

  • actually this movie will probably be made either in the mold of Lord Of the Rings..as a trilogy. Or as Harry Potter as 4 0r 5 part movie series. Either way will be awesome.

  • harry potter is a 7 part movie series, 6 is comming out soon and 7 will be next.

  • actually harry potter is a 8 part movie series, they are splitting the last book into two parts. because there is too much stuff that they have to use that they could fit into 3 hours

  • dang

  • harry potter is an 8 part movie series. the last one is going to be broken into two parts

  • really? where did you hear this?

  • through the grapevine and wikipedia

  • thats intresting...

it will be wierd after watching the first one to have to wait for part two.

  • All worlds are connected. From Salems' Lot to the Dark Tower, everything is connected, with good old Randall Flagg as one of the threads.

  • That's what makes it so fun to read King. Those connections are like a reward for the fans who read more than two books.

  • Good a little

  • I would love to see Fewdio make this film. Good vid!

  • Thankee sai!

btw its actually more like all other worlds share their destiny with this one, this one's "the keystone world" lol

  • Nicely done Gunslinger :)

  • Has any one seen the Grifter Logan Trailer ?

  • Thanx a lot man!!!! the directing is awsome!!!

  • where can i get this movie?

  • You can't it's a book series The Dark Tower by Stephen King and it hasn't been made into a movie.

  • some people say that the mist from stephen kings book the mist s from the Dark tower universe and that the mist left that universe and came into ours

  • I think the 'mist' is really a thinny

and thinnies can appear in any universe

  • This is really good, well done! Footage and music mix perfectly

  • Many thanx, I was quite pleased with how it turned out :)

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAHH MAN IN BLACK RUN!

  • Apparently J.J. Abram has plans to do Dark Tower as a trilogy. WTF!?

  • chick from 28 days later minus the brit accent would make great susannah

  • Whover does Susannah has got to pull off Detta/Odetta too, so they've got to be able to pull off wicked, snarling pottymouth, and quiet, passive, dignified in the same performance--often in the same scene! Sanaa Lathan from AVP gets my vote. I'd like to see Jake Gyllenhal as Eddie, and Harvey Kietel as Cort. Roland....? He's the hardest to nail down, and he's iconic already, just on paper--still, Viggo Mortenson already nailed Strider/Aragorn before, so maybe he could pull it off...

  • I always thought of Roland as a young Clint Eastwood...

  • -_- Stephen King did base Roland on Clint Eastwood

  • right on.. she somehow totally perfect for this

  • aye, Viggo would kick the ass...

  • wow i wish ...it was really a movie...which i could watch...

  • i just got so incredibly excited...too bad it wasn't real...such a letdown, but a cool concept for a trailer...

  • chuck norris....make up'ed

    roland

  • cool shit. i could feel it. fan based kicks ass, when done, good.shit

  • Movie... No! T.v. Series... Yes!

  • on hbo so they wouldnt have to make it pg13 it would completely ruin the book if they lost content

  • I say Nathan Fillion would make a wicked good Roland. he's just young enough that he could cover the whole series if they made it a chain of movies over a span of 10 years or so.

  • I hope there will be a movie in my life time

  • damnit!!! i thought this was real! lol. The dark tower series is honestly my favorite series.

  • most of which are over 500 pages long!

  • Viggo Mortensen for Roland

  • Good Call!

    Adrian Brody for Eddie?

Why not Hallie Berry for Sussanah!

  • well perhaps you started in the middle or something. There are seven books in all (I think)

  • Some other fantasy casting picks:

Cuthbert = Brendon Fraser; Walter/Man In Black = daniel day lewis; Cort = Nick Notle; young Roland - Sean William Scott

  • come commala

  • Mads Mikkelsen

look him up, he would be the perfect actor for Roland

  • he´s the danish actor isn´t he?? ... saw him in several movies (flickering lights, pusher I + II ... ah yeah James Bond) and he definitely has the required acting skills ... besides, there is no bad danish movie ^^

  • Amen.

  • man i cant wait till i finish the dark tower series (im at wolves of the calla more then half-way through it) stephen king never ceases to amaze me with his epic writing skills...
