The supra is a beast from down unda I've seen it in person in Austin they had it on a dyno stand about 5 feet off the ground whole crowd was standing all close to the exaust I kept telling them to move back and turn away before he punched it but noooo let's just say a few people lost some eyebrows and hair lol

Its not some average car that you just put a fucking turbo on. Its proved itself many times over as an excellent platform to mod for any type of motorsport. Look at Supraforums sometime and see what some owners are doing with their cars.
The cams almost make it sound like a rotary @ idle... but seriously impressive suspension/gearbox/diff set up to be able to put the power down so smoothly in a Supra.
If you wana talk stock for stock dont forget the GTR. But It's not all about a straight line. When you take most US cars into a run with an inport around turns 90% of the time the muscle will loose. Now I will give you some credit they are starting to put better suspension in them. but for example a 87 300 zx had fully independent rear suspension and would kill almost any domestic it went up against if it was going through hard corners.

I'm surprised that there are such recent posts in here debating a Toyota Supra. I'm glad to see that Supra lovers are still active. Just want to say that Supra's are exotic cars and they didn't have it handed to them like all the exotics these days (FYI, the Supra earned its place as an exotic). Love both Muscle & Supras here but there is just something with the way the Japanese build motors. They can drop 2 cylinders and still produce more power than any American build (Unfortunate but true).
@rfurgy23 sorry you dont know cars, you can stick with your jap crap all you want, it dont take brains to figure out that the only way the japs get that power is with turbos,and its not even their own technology they stole it from other countries.The supra is a sports car not any exotic. And a v8 puts out over 600hp with just naturally aspirated power ( just a carb) the jap engines need forced induction or high compression to get near that.

Just prefer not to have a lifter rod blast through my hood or a motor that requires twice as much gas than needed to obtain that kind of horse power. Just so we are on the same page, I've owned old muscle cars to Japanese compacts and have done all the work on them for the past 15 years. I still have to say my favorite car is the '64 AC Cobra with the 427, but that's another topic all together.

Imports may do better on mpg but as soon as you get on it all engines get bad mpg. @68chargerlover Just thought I would throw that in there to see what I would get. But it would seem that by definition of an exotic. The only two cars stated here that would fall into that category would be the '64 AC Cobra and the Ford GT40. I think though that these days, a car that has become rare through time and has distinct characteristics which are sought after could in deed be considered an exotic. The '68 Charger for one example, among other cars as well.

I would have to agree that this is not the fastest car in the world, but I would go as far as to say that the Toyota Supra is in no way low end. Low end would be a Mazda Miata. I've seen some Mark IV Supra's priced at $160,000 which could buy two Lambos. As to the fastest production exotic I've found so far, I would have to say it would be the Bugatti Veyron.

@PD19954 funny I've looked at Carol Shelbys history of racing and it mentions an MG-TC , a Cad-Allard, Austin martain Db3, Austin-Healey,Monza Ferrari, v8 Maserati,Scarab, Cobra, Mustang GT350, GT-40 and the viper. But now where in his history time line does it say a thing about the supra. So either your talking about a different caroll shelby or the supra isnt that big of a deal to him lol

As for imports blowing engines, not all imports have the low end built for HP (forged crank, rods, pistons, etc.) so depending on the import I can see that happening. As for domestics, well, they pretty much started leaving all that good stuff out in the mid '70s. Heck, Ford is even looking into Mazda these days and even got rid of the two best engines they had, the 302, and 351.

Also the Supra is a way better handler due to a .98G skidpad, still brakes better and is lower to the ground, wider stance and is IRS compared to the solid axle from the Camaro. Chevy built Corvettes for road racing not Camaros.
The point wasn't to say the Camaro SS LT4 was a better car, because it wasn't.
But stock for stock, it beat the Supra on 0-60 and quarter mile.
And it did that for about 15k less in price.
How can anyone claim that the Supra was the 'greatest car ever' when in stock trim, the Camaro SS could give it all it could handle, and the Camaro was not the best Chevy performance car.

The japs had to steal the technology from others to even get it to move. Its just a jap sports car that can be made to be quick, but you need to get a rid in a car thats fast. My charger is running 800hp with just a carb,no tons of boost or nitrous like a supra needs all stock parts too.
@byeofficer uhh i appreciate your enthusiasm but there are chargers that put out over 1000bhp on the stock suspension and this car is not doing it on stock internals it has the boost logic race engine in it. and its stroked to almost .5 liters more than stock.
If you learned how to read instead of being incompetent you would see that at the end of the video it ran a 5.18 in the 1/8th at a 144mph. Thank you for showing what happens when mom hooks up with grandpa.

And for all the haters out there lets not forget to mention that the Toyota Supra is still the fastest 6 speed IRS car in the 1/4 mile at 7.91 @ 190mph. Set by SW's mile car. Its not some average car that you just put a fucking turbo on. Its proved itself many times over as an excellent platform to mod for any type of motorsport. Look at Supraforums sometime and see what some owners are doing with their cars.

If you wana talk stock for stock dont forget the GTR. But It's not all about a straight line. When you take most US cars into a run with an inport around turns 90% of the time the muscle will loose. Now I will give you some credit they are starting to put better suspension in them. but for example a 87 300 zx had fully independent rear suspension and would kill almost any domestic it went up against if it was going through hard corners.

I'm surprised that there are such recent posts in here debating a Toyota Supra. I'm glad to see that Supra lovers are still active. Just want to say that Supra's are exotic cars and they didn't have it handed to them like all the exotics these days (FYI, the Supra earned its place as an exotic). Love both Muscle & Supras here but there is just something with the way the Japanese build motors. They can drop 2 cylinders and still produce more power than any American build (Unfortunate but true).

Just prefer not to have a lifter rod blast through my hood or a motor that requires twice as much gas than needed to obtain that kind of horse power. Just so we are on the same page, I've owned old muscle cars to Japanese compacts and have done all the work on them for the past 15 years. I still have to say my favorite car is the '64 AC Cobra with the 427, but that's another topic all together.

Imports may do better on mpg but as soon as you get on it all engines get bad mpg. The only two cars stated here that would fall into that category would be the '64 AC Cobra and the Ford GT40. I think though that these days, a car that has become rare through time and has distinct characteristics which are sought after could in deed be considered an exotic. The '68 Charger for one example, among other cars as well.

I would have to agree that this is not the fastest car in the world, but I would go as far as to say that the Toyota Supra is in no way low end. Low end would be a Mazda Miata. I've seen some Mark IV Supra's priced at $160,000 which could buy two Lambos. As to the fastest production exotic I've found so far, I would have to say it would be the Bugatti Veyron.

As for imports blowing engines, not all imports have the low end built for HP (forged crank, rods, pistons, etc.) so depending on the import I can see that happening. As for domestics, well, they pretty much started leaving all that good stuff out in the mid '70s. Heck, Ford is even looking into Mazda these days and even got rid of the two best engines they had, the 302, and 351.

Also the Supra is a way better handler due to a .98G skidpad, still brakes better and is lower to the ground, wider stance and is IRS compared to the solid axle from the Camaro. It holds a world record on the 1320, it has a tried and true motor and transmission and it is one of the most common motor swaps done in the import world and has even been placed in domestics.

The Veyron is an engineering marvel. It is the most advanced car ever created, not to mention it is currently the fastest production car in history.
I do not find the Veyron appealing, but I know it is the best car ever made.
Come compares to it in performance and luxury combined? Nothing.

@Curveball The best is a subjective term. Is the Veryron the best car for a road course? no. Is the Veryon the best for an offroad rally? no. So its not the best car. No car is the best at everything.

@Curveball I never said it held the fastest 1/4 ever, I said its the fastest 6 speed car in the world, because it is. There isn't a quicker or faster 6 speed transmission, IRS car in the 1/4 mile than SW's Supra. And no I wasn't trashing the Veyron I just said that it should be reliable for the price that you pay and I would imagine that it would be very reliable.

@Curveball Wow!! you are not that bright. I stated a car that uses a 6 speed transmission and IRS. The Viper in that vid uses a 2 speed powerglide. The fastest 6 speed viper does 7.98 @ 183 and it was done by Garth Weaver (a former Supra owner nonetheless) You just proved that you are finding anything you can to attack what the Supra can do and not accepting facts like the many that I have given. Congrats on looking dumb.

@Curveball The other thing is that you compare a Supra which was created in 1993 to the C5 Corvette (1997), C5 Z06 (2001), and the C6 Z06 (2006). You also compare the 2JZ-GTE (created in 1990) to the LS series (first created in 1997). You are just giving the platform more credit as you are showing that old technology can hold its own. :)

@Curveball Same thing goes with the interior. C4 Corvettes have much shittier interiors than Supras which came out at the same time. Its interesting when an FD RX-7 has a nicer interior than a C5. The interior thing has always been an issue and even Corvette owners say it themselves. Whats the difference between the interior of a C6, C6 Z06 and C6 ZR1? The insignia on the headrest of the seat

@68chargerlover this IS thee greatest import in the world, and is damn sure the sexiest one out there, it is a piece of artwork...the japs did a phenominal job when they made this...there are a shit ton left and they arent cheap...no matter what you say this car will ALWAYS look better and be faster than your "68 charger" not to mention its an inline 6 and most likely has the stock rear end and tranny. let me see you put 1000+ rwhp through your dodge with those stock parts and be street legal

@byeofficer Its always good to dream kido, you need to check you eye sight, and study cars more you have no clue lol. The charger has class, style coolness and attitude. The japs had to steal the technology from others to even get it to move. Its just a jap sports car that can be made to be quick, but you need to get a rid in a car thats fast. My charger is running 800hp with just a carb,no tons of boost or nitrous like a supra needs all stock parts too.

@byeofficer uhh i appreciate your enthusiasm but there are chargers that put out over 1000bhp on the stock suspension and this car is not doing it on stock internals it has the boost logic race engine in it. and its stroked to almost .5 liters more than stock.
