@Finkster5 The roulette in this game favors the person who picks against everyone else. This is something I've noticed.
This is in opposition to SSBB, for instance, where if more than one person picks a stage, the game is more likely to pick that stage, even more so than normal.
Oh that. That's the Blue Falcon (which is a cameo from the F-Zero series).
Anyways, it doesn't look so blue though due to the fact that all of the vehicles take on the color scheme of the characters riding them. (For example, Koopa Troopa seems to give the Blue Falcon a yellowish coloration.) If you want the Blue Falcon to be truly "blue", then try putting Toad in it.
Yeah. Raichu111092 (Katie) picked it up during the last lap. If you'd like some proof, then go and check out Raichu111092's channel. She also recorded this match, but from her point of view (obviously).
Heh, happens to me all the time. I keep getting hit by Bullet Bills even when I go to the far ends of the track, so I found out you can steer a bit with them.
Mind if I share some comments about the races from my point of view:
General: Like my previous tournament, the Comet Cup, the Tornado Cup is based around a certain theme. In the Tornado Cup's case, the theme was tracks with many tight turns (like Overhazard pointed out). (In the Comet Cup's case, the theme was tracks with easy turns and long straightways.)
SNES Mario Circuit 3: Although I actually did well here (I placed 3rd), I actually felt like I had gotten off to a bad start, and it was not just with the Bob-omb at 00:14. However, I did manage to maintain a good lead through much of the race. (I even took advantage of the drafting feature to pass Overhazard at 01:14.)
While I'm quite capable of taking that shortcut, it's too difficult for me to take effectively, especially while holding an item behind me, so I take the normal way instead.
So Overhazard, it was you that knocked me out with the Red Shell at the beginning of the race (at 02:18), eh? Also, at 03:20, I was lucky to have passed the finish line before that Blue Shell of yours caught up to me or K.O.K.
N64 DK's Jungle Parkway: Things have gotten better for me, as from here on, I've been getting 1st place.
Anyways, that bridge near the end of the track is so narrow that it's a great place to lay shells, bananas, and even Fake Item Boxes. During my 2nd lap, I threw a Red Shell behind me (I was in 1st at the time) and it hitted K.O.K. Also, I have to thank Overhazard for "helping" me lay a Triple Banana with her POW Block at 06:17.
GCN Mario Circuit: We were actually planning on racing on N64 Mario Raceway, but Overhazard accidentally chose this track instead, so she was automatically placed last for that particular race (even though the results show her in 2nd).
At 07:36, I had to slow down to avoid getting caught in the Blue Shell blast that took out Henry (who was Toadette), & I ended up with 2 Red Shells to spare (though I later expended them like Green Shells). Afterwards, I stayed on guard for Red Shells & such.
I have another tournament planned for next weekend that's called the Quad Cup. It'll be a karts-only tournament, and unlike the Comet Cup and Tornado Cup, there aren't any "ideal" karts in that tournament (to my knowledge at least).
Sadly, I might be running out of space on my friends list, so I'd have to start deleting some of my registered friend codes to make room. I could delete those that show up as ???, but when I know all of my registered friends, then it'll be difficult to find ones that I could delete.
I believe that I'm not the only one who might be having this kind of problem. (Am I right Overhazard?)
That's true, especially when people are Daisy in the Mach Bike, and if they don't get hit, then their lead will get bigger and bigger because no one can better her. Except a flying blue shell, but since there are more power-ups, the slimmer the chance is of getting one. And lately, I've been seeing "Guests" protect the leader by holding items behind them to make sure they don't get hit, and if a flying blue shell hits the leader, the "Guest" will slow down..
Exactly!, ive been in a game like tht. Only tht the User would use items to slow me down and care-less about the race. But only to make sure the guest was leading the intire time.
That's the opposite of what normally happens. I mean, guests don't have VR, so they're free to mess around as they please, driving backwards or allowing people to lap them so they can blast their enemies.
It's much worse in Battle Mode, however, when a player and their guest are put on opposite teams.
I couldn't believe this, but I had Baby Daisy in the Tiny Titan when my bro had Rosalina in the Offroader and I was pushing him around like it was nothing.
Strange. I've never seen anything like that. The Tiny Titan is by far the heaviest of the lightweight vehicles, and Baby Daisy adds even more weight, but it can't be nearly as much as Rosalina in the Offroader.
I know what you mean. I use heavyweights very often, and thats happen to me loads of times. Especially on tracks like GBA Bowser's Castle or Rainbow Road.
It's one tournament out of a series of tournaments that have a variety of themes. The Tornado Cup has just finished, so next up will be the Quad Cup, a karts-only cup.
I didn't have a very aggressive showing this time. I thought it was pretty funny that the game chose GCN Mario Circuit versus everyone elses' Mario Raceways. More often than not, the game likes to gravitate towards the "odd man out" and select whatever that person chooses.
I don't appreciate KOK regifting the Thunder Cloud I so kindly gave to him at 8:23. =P
These were some fun races all around. I like it when a lot of people are included.
Pretty good racing for being half asleep. I hit myself with green shells like you did on N64 DK's Jungle Parkway all the time. I swear that I hit myself more often than I hit other people with them.
When people give up position for item boxes; they usually do it just before the first box, and only the first box. The idea is to get a star, golden mushroom, or bullet bill to jump out to an early lead and keep it. I find that it works maybe once out of every 4 tries, and not worth it at all.
I usually try to use that tactic on tracks with shortcuts near the start (like SNES Mario Circuit 3, N64 Mario Raceway, GCN Mario Circuit, Luigi Circuit, GCN Peach Beach, Mario Circuit, DS Desert Hills, and Dry Dry Ruins to name a few), so that I could get a nice lead over the others. I didn't use it for the Sunday Match of the Tornado Cup though.
Of course, it doesn't help much when you don't get something that'll help you get ahead, and you're stuck in that spot hanging out with a bunch of players who want to turn the race into Battle Mode.
Hey! I didn't know Captain Falcon had a pet turtle!
