I don't understand why some people would think nappy hair is undesirable. I am asian and I do not understand the whole issue with having nappy hair. I have naturally curly hair ( a bit tighter than Vanessa Hudgens') but I would love to have nappy hair. I think it is artful and classy. With the right products and treatments, nappy hair can be styled many ways. This view is based purely on esthetics. I am speaking according to what I am seeing.

Natural is a beautiful thing. I've been natural now for about six months and I love it. And the best thing about it is that you can do so many fun things with your hair in its natural state. I can't even stand lookin at relaxers, natural is the best way all day!!!
i remember when i was young and i was dying to have permed hair...but now i can manage my natural hair and i think it suits me....and i see soooo many beautiful black women with weaves and dull looking perms whose faces would be brought out so much more with a natural hair style. we got the most unique hair, and im so proud of it.

Yes some people choose to not wash their hair, but the truth is, cleaner hair locks up better, and doesn't have to be dirty. I'm on the natty journey myself, and not once has my hair ever been dirty, and if it does, that's what Apple Cider Vinegar is for! It strips everything in your hair, with just hair left behind, just make sure to wash it after cause it stinks! lol
allow me to add what I missed...I do wash often, just saying that if it ever gets really dirty or something in it by some freak accident, that's what it's for. Plus it's good to rinse your with Apple Cider Vinegar once a month anyhow! kinda like a check-up, you know?

I was tired of perming my hair because it "was to curly and thick" so, I became natural. No one said tan IS black How ever it is a mockery of Black or colored skin. Just because "black people" normally are classified or judged upon there features, brown or colored skin, dark to light being one of the claaifications this is why "tanning" is associated with black features......thats all. I have seen some very brown skinned women coming out of the salon after a fresh tan. I was shocked at how dark many of these women are getting. Remember Christina Agulara when she had that dark hair and brown oily tan?

Tan is not BLACK. I really don't understand why you darkies keep saying this. If a white girl goes to a tanning salon and comes out looking as dark as Wesley Snipes she'd be laughed at and called a freak. Some white people like getting some sun for a little color (tan, blush), but we certainly dont get sun to look black, or dark brown. Why cant you understand the difference?
Whites have skin tones that are white or pinkish. They have no color at all. Thus a tan of any sort is associated w/ blackness because blackness comes in many shades.

MsChissa, I'm white and male. I think it' safe to agree that beauty has certain basic standards. These being that colours have a clarity, radiance and harmony with one another. The facial structure has a symmetry and sense of proportion, and the hair has a sense of healthy order to it. An African tribe may decide to mutilate women's lips using discs, just as a 3 year old might make a scrawl with coloured pencils. In their less sohisticated eyes, what they have done is indeed "beautiful".
MsChissa, one characteristic of black women is attractive like the full lips. But in the main their hair, eyes and complexion are far 2 dark, and afro hair is seen as chaotic and unsightly. Mariah Carey is a beautiful "black" woman but most black women don't come anywhere near looking like that.

Your hair was growing with and without the relaxer. You just had less breakage without the relaxer. I'm assuming you mean relaxer as a perm is to curl the hair not straigthen it like a relaxer.

I love nappy hair to but the reason when I relax and still have hair on my head is because I do not do it to be white.
Those of you African Americans who are pro Africa and pro natrual. Have you guys spoken to new immagrants from Africa. I think you guys are really going to be shocked. Because Africa is not as pro natural as you might think but I do not think they stress themselves out to always be straight. They are very much more advanced believe it or not.

Natural is a beautiful thing. I've been natural now for about six months and I love it. And the best thing about it is that you can do so many fun things with your hair in its natural state. I can't even stand lookin at relaxers, natural is the best way all day!!!

i remember when i was young and i was dying to have permed hair...but now i can manage my natural hair and i think it suits me....and i see soooo many beautiful black women with weaves and dull looking perms whose faces would be brought out so much more with a natural hair style. we got the most unique hair, and im so proud of it.

people that say dreadies are nasty, don't know what they are talking about to be honest. Yes some people choose to not wash their hair, but the truth is, cleaner hair locks up better, and doesn't have to be dirty. I'm on the natty journey myself, and not once has my hair ever been dirty, and if it does, that's what Apple Cider Vinegar is for! It strips everything in your hair, with just hair left behind, just make sure to wash it after cause it stinks! lol

allow me to add what I missed...I do wash often, just saying that if it ever gets really dirty or something in it by some freak accident, that's what it's for. Plus it's good to rinse your with Apple Cider Vinegar once a month anyhow! kinda like a check-up, you know?

I was tired of perming my hair because it "was to curly and thick" so, I became natural. No one said tan IS black How ever it is a mockery of Black or colored skin. Just because "black people" normally are classified or judged upon there features, brown or colored skin, dark to light being one of the claaifications this is why "tanning" is associated with black features......thats all. If a white girl goes to a tanning salon and comes out looking as dark as Wesley Snipes she'd be laughed at and called a freak. Whites have skin tones that are white or pinkish. They have no color at all. Thus a tan of any sort is associated w/ blackness because blackness comes in many shades.

Once you get a good regimen you will love it. Throw out the brush, get a good protein conditioner, ph balanced shampoo or a shampoo for dry damaged hair and you will be on your way to hair satisfaction.

MsChissa, I'm white and male. I think it' safe to agree that beauty has certain basic standards. These being that colours have a clarity, radiance and harmony with one another. The facial structure has a symmetry and sense of proportion, and the hair has a sense of healthy order to it. An African tribe may decide to mutilate women's lips using discs, just as a 3 year old might make a scrawl with coloured pencils. In their less sohisticated eyes, what they have done is indeed "beautiful".

MsChissa, one characteristic of black women is attractive like the full lips. But in the main their hair, eyes and complexion are far 2 dark, and afro hair is seen as chaotic and unsightly. Mariah Carey is a beautiful "black" woman but most black women don't come anywhere near looking like that.
