I wrote a book called "Beethoven's Immortal" about who the "Immortal Beloved" really is. My take on it is that the reason nobody was ever able to find out about who she was is because she is from the future. It is a time travel story and available at Synergebooks and Amazon Kindle.
There's a reason why Richard Wagner fell at the feet of only one composer, other than himself. And that's Beethoven. So supreme was Beethoven that sifting through centuries of music, Wagner, the supreme egotist, could only find this single composer to measure himself against and, alas, find himself wanting. This indirect compliment reveals the true stature of Beethoven like no other compliment I can think of.

@inkkwell Tupac is considered to be one of the greatest rappers ever. I mean Elvis was a drugged up moron as well. Not to mention the pop culture joke about Tupac being alive? Stop trying to be a troll you goblin and stfu.
My favorite composition made even more powerful by this (film's) interpretation of the events in Beethoven's life. We are all running to that place were we are free.
Perhaps my single most favorite scene in the movie. Ahhh Beethoven, only through your immense suffering could you have produced the most beautiful music of all time. Being deaf did not matter, you heard it all anyway.
indeed...Beethoven's 9th symphony shud be included in the "What humans did well on Earth" box....sent to space among Einstens theories, etc...maybe some1 will listen...
Love this movie. Especially when Mozart is running through the forest and then falls into the river and almost drowns. Powerful acting from Bruce Willis.
@Sconz32 WHAT THE HELL ????? This movie , Immortal beloved , is about Ludwig Van bethooven NOT Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Ludwig Van beethoven is played in an amazing and powerful performance by the AMAZING actor Gary Oldman. And Bruce Willis has NEVER played Mozart. What are you talking about?
@pieguyfry22 Haha , Yeah. You gotta be pretty damn high if you when you watch this movie , see Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played by BRUCE WILLIS almost drown in a river.
@telephowned How am I trolling when I react when someone say that in this movie "Immortal beloved" he saw Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (played by Bruce Willis) almost drown in a river? When this movie is about Ludwig van Beethoven played by gary Oldman , and Bruce willis has never played Mozart?
@telephowned Oh sorry , you said trolled on. Well excuse me for getting trolled :( I could not just let that comment stand there..... un-touched. Who knows , maybe some bigger moron then me would of thought it was true.
@5Cagey9Butterfly The whole thing his immortal beloved true identity is movie fiction. Experts still don't know for sure who it is. Also his secretary Schindler is depicted as totally honest in the film, which is not true either. Historians have found he changed Beethoven notes himself... The "must it be" quote is also taken out of context in the film. For the rest I agree with you the movie is closer to the real thing than Amadeus.
@nakedgunmusic i agree with you good sir but lets take our time to think this its a movie it cant show the whole life of a man that would take at least 5 movies if done one a year lets hope that movies can show the beatiful that the music its
This movie wasn't meant to be educational. It's not a documentary, it's Hollywood. Just watch it and appreciate it for what it is.....a great work of art with fantastic music. Gary did a phenominal job. This is in my top 3 movies of all time
The movie was annoying, and as a whole is representation of the artist was very poor, but the scene really was exceptional. I really the very end of the scene. Wonderful.
There are some powerful scenes in this film, but the premise is SO far from the truth that I cannot recommend this as being educational. The true story is so much better, so much more powerful.
fantastica. Insegno musica alle medie, e faccio sempre vedere questo film, così poetico e vivo. Beh, quella scena è quella che piace sempre più di tutte ai ragazzi (e a me), seguita da quella del Concerto Imperatore.
While this film is absolutely riddled with factual and historical inaccuracies, I absolutely love it. Beethoven's music is absolutely timeless and this film, whilst highlighting his many flaws, is also a stunning tribute to hte man and his music.
Actually this scene of the film was filmed in the forest outside Prauge in Czech Republic. However the part where the young Ludwig Van Beethoven is running through the mountains in Hollywood. I have contact with the boy well he is know a man who played young Ludwig Van Beethoven.
i love this...however i dont think that what we are hearing is actually part of ode to joy. im always looking for it in the piece but i can never find it....
This is the final part of Ode to Joy - the singing is the final part of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 "Choral". The entire Symphony takes about an hour.
@LogicPunk1371 thanks, i found it, but the part we are hearing now is actually early in the symphony and not at the last part of it, as it is being portrayed here in the scene.
This video contains my favorite scene from the film, when the young Beethoven escapes his monstrous father and becomes one with the cosmos. I love this movie.
And the neat thing about your "judgment," is that you are probably extremely qualified to so judge others as pompous and idiotic. You seem to have amazing experience being both. Again, sir, bravo!
