The DC-10 & the L1011 were both dam good planes, each had there own characteristics and minor issues but they are missed truly both all of us that flew on them and worked trips on them.
@speakfoolish The Lockheed L-1011 was WAY more advanced, and even quieter and offered a smoother flight than the DC-10. The DC-10 was alright, but it seemed tail heavy and the asile always appeared to have a slant.
@TomsFriendKake You are probably correct. I unfortunately never had the pleasure of being a passenger in a TriStar. I was a UA Employee and with the exception of Sioux City, never had a bumpy landing in one.
Great aircraft--loved the '10's all thru the 70's, 80's and 90's. Couldn't beat 'em on AA, Continental, Western, Hawaiian and United--especially those Hawaii flights--ah, the good old days...
Five Stars! I've flown on several AA DC-10's, including the 10pm crew familiarization flights that operated from SYR to LGA in the mid seventies. What a sweet ride! What great memories!
Thanks for posting this excellent television spot announcing the type. PURE eye candy!
Those were the days - when the engines didn't smoke - but you could!

In some reasons the DC10 was for American a "nightmare Liner", keeping in mind to AA96, and AA191

@roxxma The maintenance was to blame for the Chicago crash not the design or construction.
