I used to travel fae coatbridge to train with Paul Smith I learned some Wing Chun and I also watched loads of movies with Bruce Lee and Steven Seagull, I mixed them all together and developed my own Martial Art of Wing Lee Seagull which is lethal especially when I am training solo I often give myself a good beating especially when I chi sau solo,Shutit Queen or I'll effing do ya.
i come to edinburgh classes on thu , sun and tues for rapid arnis if you go to those classes u might know me im the blonde boy named finlay if u know send a reply
I met this guy once and he seemed a very quiet and polite man. He techniques looked very good to me but then who am I. It's really unfortunate that there is so much arguing in Martial Arts especially with so many great practitioners around. I like the video. Thanks for posting.

Who is this person then who wants to hide behind the internet? How about you grow up and put your name forward or even better come down and actually say what you have to say in person. But im sure thats not going to happen .......idiot
@gambleyourhealth lol 'switching hands'....Its called a huen sau bud, and is a very integral part of good wing chun.
While we are on the subject of there being no grandmasters, i think you will find that Wong is 100% self taught.......not the highest of credentials i fear
Yes im aware huen sau is not 'switching hands.' If you look again you will see that i am, in fact, quoting your own words.
I am also aware that WSL was not self taught, and his is one of the better Wing Chun lineages. Perhaps you should find out exactly what people are saying before immediately taking offense.
And finally, saying that "you will be annihilated" is not a fact, it is your opinion. So please stop flaming what is an excellent video demo.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this guy is half decent for a Samuel Kwok trained Instructor, Kwok's Wing Chun is shockingly bad, no disrespect intended but it is fact. Only students under Kwok are deluded into thinking he is good. Kwok can't fight & has terrible skills. People like Paul Smith should go to seminars with Keith Kernspecht, Leung Ting, Emin Boztepe, etc see where there skills are in relation (not even remotely close) & from there grow.Go view likes of Emin Boztepe, etc on here and see the difference - it is vast.
We are intelligent but u r not. You don't do any good things around, do you? wrong, wrong ,negative, offensive, bothering people's life....so just be Flat undrft as u wish!
I was confused by your last message. I think its because my message wasnt clear.
What I meant to say was ... you're entitled to your opinion on how good paul smith is...
But you are wrong in your first comment when you said paul put this video up to show how good he is. He clearly didn't. He just wanted to show some simple techniques. Thats all i'm saying...
The issue of how good he actually is is seperate... But you don't get much better than him...
I see waht you mean about his elbows - which are low when he changes gates - but Paul can be as lazy with his bong sau as he wants with the ammount of tournaments and challenge matches he's fought without ever being beaten.
Well I appreciate your response, brother. I really do. I really look forward to the day when people who practice Ving Tsun can stand together, it all starts with us.
Personally, whether it was you, or your Sifu, it's very disappointing to see a guy like Paul Smith -- who has represented Ving Tsun in bare-knuckle tournaments, won multiple championships against other martial arts styles; who has done so much to represent this art -- get criticized by someone he doesn't even know, or even fought. He deserves better. Frankly, the comment above just makes us all look bad. But I'm sick of stupid YouTube debates, so this is all I have to say, take it or leave it.
or the 3 seeds as every thing grows out of those 3..
can see if need be once he has traped his training partner that he can follow up with chain punching but continues with the rolling so that they can learn from each strike the force at play and to fell in the chi sau what to do from each situation ect
Big man fianlly tracked you down. Good to see you doing well in USA..... will email soon as I need to find a new wing chun class in leeds... Do you know any good ones. Especially ones that dont expect money monthly!
listen to all you naysayers regardless of this being a demo Paul is a good fighter and can fight for real. in street fights dispatching multiple opponents. in full contact comps winning every time. if you dont know him then shut your mouths. he can master about any MA there is. after a limited amount of training in Rapid Arnis(a stick fighting Filipino MA) he entered the world championshit and finished 2nd and thats against guys who have been training in those arts for a long time.
I don't know Paul personally, but I train with Sifu Kwok in Lancaster. Paul came as a guest to train with us recently, and although I missed it, the rest of our club was blown away by his technique and sheer power. Sifu Kwok speaks very highly of him, and thats good enough for me. I hope I get to train with him in the future.
the guy isn't bad. big guy using a small persons art. he has skill you can tell a polished brawler from a regular m.a. the states r huge. where is he teaching?
He's in Central Pennsylvania at the moment. Actually, he's in one of your other favorites too--he's the guy Sam Kwok is demonstrating on in the Double Impact seminar with Carlson Gracie. He's also the guy who picks up Carlson's student later on in a guillotine choke.
good look. I hear rtystic use to throat Elton. I have to see the rest of sam kwok and carlson gracie. sheughs thanks for the info. I hear rtystic likes to smell mazzas nut sack
Where about in scotland do you guys practice? Im In falkirk and i do ju jitsu and i enjoy going to other martial arts schools and seeing whats up, i mean if i learn one good thing from it then its been worth while.
Ahhhh, yet again the faceless keyboard "warriors" shoot off with the same bravado as a backpack terrorist!
Where ARE you ladyboys when it comes to going face to face? I know he can do it... he's trained me to do it...and quite a few others too. Like the man said, he's in the US now,(lucky for them) go and see him..or if that's too far..we're in Scotland...come up and see us....anytime!!
My money is on that all of you AMAZING mouthpieces wont!!
Paul is a great martial artist, not to mention an unreal fighter and a great friend. The student he is doing a "DEMO" with is a senior student helping him with the "DEMO".That's why it says "DEMO" Paul is now living in the US, so if you would like to see how he would fair crossing hands with you I'm sure it can be arranged. You key board warriors need to spend more time training and less running your mouth. Up the Irons!
I trained with Paul for 6 years, I saw him out on his feet at the Wirrel in Liverpool against the 'best tournament fighter' in Britain and Paul came back with a 45 degree punch and knocked the guy out. It was seriously impressive.
Paul's big and strong so he's difficult to train with at times but for knowledge, expertise and patience, I think he's the best around.
IMO looks bit like a certain 'bulldogs' hands here. learnt from kwok? just guessing. lickle bit circle there & eg. pinning hands by pushing down not straight forward, use of a bong where not needed & out of range. just like my old sifu.
Trained with paul many moons ago. The guy is a beast when it comes to training and has to be one of the best wing chun instructors around. Huge respect to a true master.
Hi Paul, excellent vid, anyone who questions you needs a check up from the neck up!
Great to meet you at TMAS, loved the rolling. Stay in touch and next time your in Notts my house is yours!

Im talking about Sifu Wong Sheung Leung.
100% self taught is complete BS. He was one of Ip Mans longest live in students. It is well documented.
Heun Sao is "Circling Hands" not switching hands.
"stupid dipstick comments behind a screen" ? is that not what you have just done?
I stated facts, you people have stated nothing.

Who said that? You did . . . then said the opposite next reply when I called you on it.

Who said that? You did. Then changed it next reply when I called you on it.
Seems your understanding and credibility comes into question from simple comments.

(My lovely lady, here in this beautiful European city, is amused by your posts about me Rtystic!)
I know too much about you and you know so little about me .
Now talk about the video and learn how to respect people like Paul Smith, a man who has worked extremely hard to get to this incredible level.

Your opinion but thats not what you said in the first place. What you said was that Paul was trying to show how good he is. Which he isnt.
The subject of how good paul is compared to other people in wing chun is seperate, but his record speeks for itself.
kelly980 3 years ago
This is a really nice demo. I like the way paul usually pins both arms with his one arms when hitting.
Paul only hits when it can be done safely but when he can hit he does it well.
kelly980 3 years ago
Dude... paul smith is clearly not trying to show how good he is. He's just demonstrating some techniques.
The guy hes doing a demo with is clearly being compliant for the sake of showing some techniques.
