great vid. but we shouldn't take away the message: "Don't do power." It can be really expressive too, the point is that a lot of bboys nowadays go directly to learning how to spin on their head and flip in the air and never learn how to DANCE.

So what he's saying (as I understand it) is that acrobatics without dance is missing out on the connection with the music that makes the experience so much more. So spin on your hands if its fun but learn the DANCE first.

power is an expression of movement and that's what dance is...expression of movement. there's different kinds of dance and doing power is a part of dance whether you like it or not. ballet is concidered a dance... and they don't dance on beat, they focus on doing moves with precision (by the way i don't like ballet, just using it as an example to make a point cuz it's relavent)

it doesnt matter whether you're doing power or not. when power becomes separate from dance is when the dancer starts thinking instead of feeling, focusing on the move rather than letting go & allowing the music to create the move, thinking about your body rather than feeling the music. there have always been bboys who do power and do them on beat, with style and soul. Lilou & Machine are 2 current examples. the music drives their movements, not their thoughts.

What Ness said makes a lot of sense. Power moves are sick, no doubt. But without rhythm, they start to lack style and become repetitive. Why do you think bboys like Born, Ness, Machine, Dyzee, and Kazu are able to stand out amongst all of the power heads. Its because they are able to feel the music and "dance" to the rhythm. Their movements are determined by what music is playing so it requires them to be more dynamic which makes every move more impressive because flows with the song.
