Is this game still worth getting, now that its more than 5 years old? I'm late to the party because I just recently bought a PS3, but I'm interested in checking out some of the games I missed. Can anyone tell me if this game holds up today?

i still play this game some times, its soo awesome and holds many memories!! :) I find it much more interesting than CoD. Only problem is that the majority of the good players have retired from the game but a few still remain. Hit me up if you wanna have a game.

@TheSamuraiKoala haha you have absolutely no idea how great the online play was. it was full and great games all the time. now you cant even find a ranked game, no one is playing, and almost all customs are 1 hit. no you dont have to buy it the first day but for this one you will never truly appreciate it unless you were apart of the online. this is the best FPS ever. bar none

@inner101aggression After having played a quite a few shooters on the PS3, I have to say that I fully enjoy them now. Even with a gamepad. It was difficult to begin with, but believe me: It gets easier.
Now: Most shooters have some sort of auto-aim function. On some it is more noticeable. For most part this is, and will always be, necessary, since enemies usually come at you quite fast (but in Red Dead Redemprion, for example, I don't use auto-aim).
@DaddaOgg omg totally forgot about auto aim, most pc shooters dont even have that option (the only shooters i can think up now that have it are fallout-nv and half life). and im very happy they dont have that option cause its whack...its not fun, too easy!
anywhay my point is that theres a difference in aiming between console&pc. all ive seen so far(and what ive done while playing myself the console), most aiming is done with the body - u dont move the cross, u just position the body better
@inner101aggression I sort of agree, but it doesn't always get too easy with auto aim either. Keep in mind that the auto aim system is more effective in some games than in others, and that in some games it is less about how well you aim, and more about how you choose to engage the enemy.
In Red Dead Redemption the auto aim makes you a god, even at long distances (that's why I turned it off). In Bioshock it does not (I use A LOT more amunition than in the PC-version, and thus it is harder).
That was very much how i felt it when first using a game pad, but now I really do move the crosshair. You the more hectic shooters I still need auto aim, though. But here's the thing: For me it doesn't really matter. If the story is good, and the game offers challenges in other aspects, I'm good.
The only FPS I play on the PC is TF2 (and every other game Valve makes) and I could never get myself to play them on a console.
I know people who critisise this game because its too grey, it's suposed to look like that, I also know people who critisise the omount of colour in resistance 2

This game was flippin Amazing!!! All these great next-gen games out these days, but still, RFOM and Oblivion Elder srolls 4 are still untouchable games for me.

Haha, nobody hates this game. The only people who say they hate it is the Xbox fanboys. Everyone actually loves this game, and according to Sony, this is their highest selling game for the PS3.
Thats probably because you were judging the game by its graphics. The game was released back in 2006, and back then the game was amazing and looked reall good. To todays standards the graphics may not seem outstanding but the gameplay is still a lot of fun.
You have to give the game a try. Don't just play a random level and judge it from that. Play from the beginning, at your own pace, and I'm sure you'll have fun. Just don't play the demo.
@EnglishTurtle No, I was judging it by its game play, I don't give a shit about graphics. Also I played the whole game all the way through as well. Don't remember saying I only played one level, It was shit, linear, uninteresting, repetitive bad AI, it was almost as bad as blacksite.
Well, I should say that the AI in this game is just very good. Theres no way its shit. The game is pretty hard because of the smart AI. The gameplay isn't shit either. It resembles more of an arcade and strategic style of gameplay just like Halo, except Resistance is much more fast paced and intense.
Also, a linear game isn't a bad game. The level desing gives you a lot of options on how you can take down your enemy. Also, the linearity helps a story unfold better.

i dont know ... i got this game so excited to see so many good reviews.... and personally it was one of the worst games ive ever played. horrible gameplay... horrible voice acting.... and every gun was an absolute piece of garbage.
I'm looking forward to this game, finally traded my xbox in for a 120 gig PS3 and i have to say that the PS3 is a far better system then the xbox 360, no where near the hardware problems and since the online play is free i'm saving an additional 50 dollars.
I recommend buying this intense game. Every second you play you will not regret playing it. The story - line is great, the online multiplayer is incredible. If I would give one criticism, it would be the glitches. I don't know if these are actually fixed because I trade my PS3 in for a Xbox 360 a year ago. But I'm getting the reliable peice of equipment back.

@Zabivelli damn yeah, been a while lol, im a whole year older, feels bad man, but yeah RES1 is the shit, some of my best times on that game, first game i ever got on PS3, and it'll always been the game that kinda stays with me in my memories from the early days of being online on the PS3 with my mates, the mates that in fact i still always talk to now, so not only the best time on that game but i met some of the best people on my friends list to date, peace man, continue to enjoy the game.

Thats probably because you were judging the game by its graphics. The game was released back in 2006, and back then the game was amazing and looked reall good. To todays standards the graphics may not seem outstanding but the gameplay is still a lot of fun.
You have to give the game a try. Don't just play a random level and judge it from that. Play from the beginning, at your own pace, and I'm sure you'll have fun. Just don't play the demo.

@EnglishTurtle No, I was judging it by its game play, I don't give a shit about graphics. Also I played the whole game all the way through as well. Don't remember saying I only played one level, It was shit, linear, uninteresting, repetitive bad AI, it was almost as bad as blacksite.
The second one was a huge improvement.

Well, I should say that the AI in this game is just very good. Theres no way its shit. The game is pretty hard because of the smart AI. The gameplay isn't shit either. It resembles more of an arcade and strategic style of gameplay just like Halo, except Resistance is much more fast paced and intense.
Also, a linear game isn't a bad game. The level desing gives you a lot of options on how you can take down your enemy. Also, the linearity helps a story unfold better.

I'm looking forward to this game, finally traded my xbox in for a 120 gig PS3 and i have to say that the PS3 is a far better system then the xbox 360, no where near the hardware problems and since the online play is free i'm saving an additional 50 dollars.

I recommend buying this intense game. Every second you play you will not regret playing it. The story - line is great, the online multiplayer is incredible. If I would give one criticism, it would be the glitches. I don't know if these are actually fixed because I trade my PS3 in for a Xbox 360 a year ago. But I'm getting the reliable peice of equipment back.
