This was my first large Electric Conversion and once done I switched totally! I prefer the instant power and no hassel to be honest. The down side is that the initial cost can be expensive for the li-po`s etc. These days you can convert any size aircraft to Electric.Regarding FPV,not really my thing.
I was wondering if you've ever thought of a FPV system. I can't help but think that such a set-up would be amazing considering the altitude your getting. You may even be able to fly beyond sight flying it strictlly from an FPV set-up. Great video and great aircraft!!!!
Do you feel that you gave up anything by converting to electric. I'm a newbie but already a big fan of electric for obvious reasons. Yours is the largest so far that I've seen powered by electricity. I'm wondering what the limit is, size wize of an electric set-up.
That's incredible! A couple of questions. What is the run time for the engine and how high were you flying that thing? I'm a fixed-wind full-scale pilot and that looked liked upwards of 2000 feet if I had to guess. A 1/4 scale airplane like that has to have a pretty big wingspan to be able to see it clear enough to fly it that high. In my RC club, the saying is "Out of sight, out of mind." My semi-scale Cherokee has a 62 inch wing and once I get it up around 800 feet, she's getting pretty small!
More and more RC models are going to batteries because the of rising costs of nitro. A plane this size I would have used a Gasoline motor, a couple bucks a gallon, and a gallon of gas you are good to go all day plus not near the mess of nitro. Batteries ok but the heat on the ESC, cost of Lipo's is high and the long charge time needs improvement, not to mention Lipo's can explode if they get to hot or get damaged in the least bit. But this is a model I would love to add to my collection..
However, electric is good for maybe 10 minutes, if you want to fly for a longer you'll need a case of batteries... gas or glow will give you the entire day of fun. Besides the engines are part of the thing, you know.
Then, you'll need to get your model flying as realistic as possible - power is not an issue, they'll fly just fine with electric or gas/glow.
If you consider the weight of the batteries + motor, gas/glow may be even lighter based on my experience.
Less mess, less problems, more power, more quiet, more durable, safer to fly, not that "EEEEEEEEEEE!!!" sound. Thats why he probably converted it. Maybe I'm wrong.
An electric motor has an efficiency of 90%. Glow engines have an efficiency of only 15% - 20%. The electric has the same torque at low RPM as with high RPM, while glow engines are very weak at low RPMs. I know for sure you get more power with a electric, but it is hard to compare directly between electric and nitro because of the two different technologies. The cost/power/weigth ratio is better on electric. No doubt. I'll never go back to nitro again. Some nostalgia with nitro, but that's all.
that was great ive watched this multiple times i have my pilots liscnece and im 16 i just got to fly solo this plane operates pretty close to the real thing....one question....how do you see it from all the way from the ground.......i guess VFR? plz reply
it can range from 6500 to 9000$......but if your not planning on flying tons of miles look into sport liscence that can be as cheap as 3000$ but theres more restrictions...if you have any more wuestions just message me.
no you join the military then if you want to be a pilot you can sign up for flight schhool.......where you are in your class (grades) deermines what aircraft and wut division ....also if you fail you may end up working on the deck of a carrier or on an airfield working on the aircraft you wished to fly.
Beautiful plane, great vid, thanx.

the funniest thing about this video is that it achieves a better rate of climb than an actual c152

Looks like a 152 to me (cessna 172?)
Motor run time was 8 mins with 30% capacity remaining.Approx 2-2500 feet altlitude, for a couple of moments the tiny dot did disappear!
steve2972 2 years ago
It is a 152. The pilot knows what he is talking about, its his plane. Plus the manufacturer would not label the tail 152 if they were making a 172.
MIZUEZ 1 year ago
Why does that look alot like a cessena 172
TheQuincyT118 2 years ago
Because Cessna 152s are: Single Engine, High Wing, small, similar overall shape.
Many reasons why it looks like a 172. 172's just bigger and a different shape. 172 has 4 seats. The 152 has 2 seats.

The plane is worth approx £800.00.You can buy the kit from Austars Models in Australia.
Its not difficult to control at high altitude as its a large model and very stable.
