I would like to recommend Flight Simulator X For Pilots-Real World Training, Instrument Flying Handbook(FAA) and Instrument Procedures Handbook(FAA). Great tools and a must if your planning on transitioning to the real world of flying. You can research the FAA books for free at FAA website. faa (dot) gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/
Just great! You know, anyone can fly a B737 from ATL to JFK direct in FSX. And of course, when I first became a Sim Pilot, that is what I did. But that quickly grows dull. I have the PMGD 747 and I start cold and dark @ the gate. I plane my routes like a real pilot would. I print the airport diagram, the SID, STAR, APPROACH PLATE, sectionals, the works. You should see my collection of paper charts! There was a lot of info on them I didn't understand, I do now! Thank you so much!
Hi everybody, I found the route from KLAX to KJFK on Flightaware [LOOP6 DAG J100 LAS J76 TBC J64 RSK J110 BUM KK54K CARRF ROD DJB JHW J70 MAGIO J70 LVZ LENDY6]. I know the SID and STAR procedures, so LOOP6 DAG and LENDY6, but could you explain to me what is for example J100 LAS? Thank you in advance
@roby081087 It's a highattitude airway or a jetway it's like a freeway in the sky. eg you get from LAS to TBC via Jetway 76 there's vids showing how to enter it into the FMC.
are you a pilot?? cos. u have god vid.. do you know some webs.. where i can find flightplan from russia.. i find out that the web, you have in your vid, is only american flightplans.. i tried to serch after some plans from russia, but culd not find.. so please if you know , you can write on my channel.. plz.
@DuranXL Well thats because its where I live so its what Im familiar with. However all the charts follow the same standard so it should be the same in your neck of the woods.
great vid. Just two questions? 1) Sometimes on the charts you have the alitude and then another altitude with a * before it. Example, it may tell me 6000 from one point to another and *3500 below that. What does the *3500 mean. ?Which one do i use? 2) Where can i find charts for europe? Thnanks
I will try to help.... usually those altitudes in between waypoints on STAR's mean that is the lowest altitude you should be at while flying between those waypoints.
You help me alot understanding the things !!! But can anyone make a video of how to enter the sid and stars in the FMC. I finally started to understand the fmc the flight planning and routes but entering the sids and stars in the fmc is still a problem for me :( .
I ve been flying on the VATSIM network for a week now, and I usually make the procedures by hand (manually) then after the last fix engage the GPS nav mode (or appr.mode). THE default built-in procedures are completely crap I never use them. ofcourse in the real world the FMC flies all the fixes and even lands the aircraft for you too :)
That depends on your departure runway. In your FMC, select the runway that you are departing from and the SIDs for that runway will appear on the left. Only one OCEAN sid should appear.
Many of the free resources on the net only cater for FAA member states, in which the USA is a member.
In europe we have the JAA joint aviation authority rather than Federal. And unlike the FAA, JAA don't publish charts for free or make them available on the net. You might be able to find flightplan software and even free charts though torrents. Or u can purchase an addon which contain a catalogue of ICAO airports and approach charts designed for simming.
Hey i seriously need help! I can't find a website that does flight plans for Australian routes!! Flight aware only does US routes... somebody please help! I've already found a website with Australian SIDs/STARs but not a flight planning one.
so will that usually be the one that the pilots have in their flight plan? Or are they told before they file the flightplan? Could you please explain the process to me? Im not new to FlightSimX but I am to VAtSIM and I found out; there are lots of things I THOUGHT I knew but didnt. Thanks for any advice!
im new to vatsim as well and this is how i do it before my planning ill tune to however and is working departure and ill ask them what the current SID is for departure and he will say what departure look up the chart with whatever you use and plan it into your flight :)
Go to the first website, lets say your taking off from manchester you it would say HON1R VOR VOR VOR VOR VOR VOR (the vor are empty spaces). In your flight plan on vatsim you would type in EGCC.HON1R VOR VOR VOR...... Then you would ask for clearance, if they accept it they will tell you "departure on the HON1R plan" Then you would download the HON1R chart and file it in your GPS or FMC. That might be hard to understand but if you have any questions message me.
Thanks so much for all of your help with flight simulator, when you do your video intro's they seem to all be in one airport, mind telling me what the airport identifier is?
fantastic series of videos i never did understand them fully, now i see how they all fit together.....plse keep up the great work...your pmdg fmc is the absolute very best plse keep them coming..rgds
In the search box on aeroplanner dot com type in ICAO code for airport your searching for. When page comes up there will be a tabbed layout in front of you for different aspects of the airport, click on "Terminal Procedures" and there should be charts for Departures (SID's), Arrivals (STAR's), Approaches (IAF's) and Other Info. You need adobe reader to view the charts.
also my input to your flight experience......fancy a free 747pmdg for flisght sim x?....then check out the freeware IFLY 747...U will need to install the latest fsuipc which again is freeware....but then you knew that no?!
not to be picky, but I believe STAR is Standard Terminal Arrival Route, Not standard instrument arrival. Apart from that, these are excellent videos.

Got 1 question though..(eham-egll)
Ive contacted atc for taxi clearance, the told me to taxi to RW06....
I checked the internet for the SID from RW06 to GORLO(WP1)
Name of the sid: GORLO1R..
Problem is that there isnt a GORLO1R in my FMC, theres just GORLO2R, 1Z, 1P etc
can you enter a SID (or star) by hand?

How can I LOAD PROPER APPROACHES and DEPARTURE charts in the FSX GPS procedures?!?!?
is there a possibilty to modify default approach procedures?
Invaderzerg 2 years ago
departures are not suportted by FS defaultly. however some navigation software has them.
approaches programed in to the FSX GPS, are covered in GPS videos just search FSX GPS
it is possible to modifi approach procedures, but they are difficult, they are part of the scener files and can be a pain to work with
countryflyboy 2 years ago
I ve been flying on the VATSIM network for a week now, and I usually make the procedures by hand (manually) then after the last fix engage the GPS nav mode (or appr.mode). For example I depart from Hong Kong Intl. Airport. My SID OCEAN, its is devided furhter to: OCEA2A OCEA2C. Which should I choose?

That depends on your departure runway. In your FMC, select the runway that you are departing from and the SIDs for that runway will appear on the left. Only one OCEAN sid should appear.
Hope this helps.
