For me...the question is which one is more life like? IMO, all Sony products have a higher contrast than others to make it pop and stand out to catch one's attention. This doesn't mean it's better or worse really. I like the colors to be life like. Too much contrast and it becomes artificial. I think Sony has done a great job balancing colors but I still prefer the Canon at least in this test.
IMO the Sony wins. I may have to consider Sony which I havent even given much though since the pic cams havce that dumb sony flash mem. May be worth the trouble for me.
Sorry, am I missing something here? I like the Sony quality more. The resolution seems to be much better. The most important (& best) feature on the Canon is the manual focus option.
The Canon is underexposing and over compensating. Shade/clouds cast a bluish light so camcorders need to compensate by adding yellow. Canon is not accurate, the dogs white fur comes out pee colored on the Canon and white on the Sony. Canon was way off in color accuracy and the dynamic range looks less. The Sony looks to have colors from white to black and everything between whereas the Canon looks to have colors between light gray and dark gray which mutes the pure colors.
The color of the video can be altered using a editing program (eg. Sony Vegas)... So technically, color dosen't matter. I made all my youtube vids using the "Sony HDR-SR11"
The colors in the Canon video look more natural and realistic by far - so for me, the Canon is the winner - when I record video, I want it to be as close to reality as possible.
@ConnorsworldAU All the sonys have that sharp lcd look quality, whether you buy the cheap ones or the expensive models. The Canons have a warm quality.
Sony has bright footage, thus meaning a slightly large lens. However, the Canon footage offers much richer footage, and less artifacts. Both are great camcorders, but the Canon camcorder has the edge.
1. Little zoom: If you see the objects in both the camera, you will find that the cannon has little more zoom that is objects are nearer. Also the canon has less brighter image. When shooting with both the camera pls make sure the objects has same distance and the brightness are same too. This way we can compare the cams better. Though your efforts are well appreciated still the comparison cannot me made due to badly done exercise. Jus wanna improve it for u.
@CBSForums The object was at same distance cause the camera's where right next to each other, Sony just has a wider angle lens compared to the Canon. And I didn't alter the brightness, cause people always want to see the original footage.
Cmon. The Canon looks crap compared to the Sony. The sony picture is more crisp and detailed then the canon. How can you guys not see that. Blows my mind away
Sony seems clearer and brighter. Not seeing how the Canon looks better. Though I do believe Canon has 1080p as where Sony is still 1080i. IDK grr Some tests Canon wins some Panasonic some Sony. So hard to tell in youtube lol. Thanks for the vid though thumbs up.
Sony...more saturated and contrasty image and slightly sharper. Canon more realistic colors with more detail in the whites and blacks. The Canon also appears to have a larger lens which has to give it better low light characteristics. With Sony you are stuck with their expensive memory sticks. Canon uses the widely available and cheaper SDHC format memory cards.
@longwave2007 : are you blind???? or a sony hater? look again! the sony has blacker blacks on the dog than grayish on the canon! saturated u said? oh my!.. just to let u know i love canon! as my point and shoot is canon and i have the canon 7D DSLR..
@RandzWRX I have many Sony products. Just not cameras or camcorders. There are many more companies that do a better job than Sony in that arena IMO. If you like the sony good for you. I prefer the Canon. I hope you can live with that...lol.
ill go for sony... look at the quality guys that is exactly the 1080p
