the strength of a pattern is determined by the strength of materials I use. 3/4 inch lock washers require a table vice and a pipe wrench to close and will stop low caliber bullets. The commonly used 7/16 14g butted links can be pulled apart by hand and are easily pierced. I can make very solid maile but it comes with a price. I try to be humble but I can make anything you want if you have the cash. I know hundreds of patterns many of which I invented.
@leeknivek sort of i guess. I can make you a chain mail battle mace if you have the money. Once I learned to sculpt solid chain objects everything became possible.
I was going to ask if you tried using magnus staff for the devil stick, but CIR makes more sense now since magnus is kinda square and looks like it needs more support. The ends of your sticks are awesome, love it. My most complex pieces were a graduated full persian necklace and a tiny roundmaille wrapped around a full persian. I can barely fathom trying to make those juggling balls. Just looks like a mass of rings that somehow became a sphere. Amazing work :)
@didgeboy287 the pattern for the ball is a bit complicated but some of my work is more complicated. go to mail artisans international league and find a pattern called voodoo. I am the inventor. my name is coyote on that site. sounds like you do some good work as well. keep at it.
@silverback7734 Ah! nice creepy profile picture. But I definitely like your voodoo; I think I looked at that when checking out sheet weaves for my first belt. Your devil stick would have been phenomenal for the "useful objects" contest too.
@CorwyneMercy the sticks were heavy, grippy , and perfectly balanced, but they also hurt if you mess up. I would suggest crystal sticks as far as commercial sticks go. I make and customize my own sticks and I wrap them with sticks of rubber. My sticks have more grip than anything on the market so you may not find exactly what you are looking for if you want sticks like mine.
@CorwyneMercy I would have to redesign them to be more durable. this was just a prototype. It proved the functionality but their strength left something to be desired. If you are really interested send me a personal message and we can discuss it.
I can do that. I will get some stuff set up and I should have the video up in a few days. This ball is one of my more interesting creations but it is not that hard to make. If your interest is in juggling balls I have other patterns that are very useful as well.
google maile artisans international league. You will find a great many tutorials. You will not find any of my current patterns but if you look up coyote on the members list you can see some more of my stuff. I will post tutorials as soon as I have more materials. I'm strapped for cash at the moment. I am probably better at chainwork than I am at object manipulation. It can be a simple art or as complex as you can imagine.
You should either use captive inverted round, dragon scale, or actual scale mail which is not hard too make but requires some tools. You would need to be able to cut small steel plates all identical to each other. I would go with the chainmail if I were you. The pattern on the devil stick is captive inverted round and can be learned on the maile artisans international league website. that or roundmail would be sufficient for your needs.
They are actually really cheap for me to make, just complicated. The first one is just slightly off from sculpted mail (totally rigid) and moves slightly . This allows the force deflection for which chainmail is known to occur despite the totally solid appearance. thus you can juggle shuffles and high throws with a nicely weighted ball and not beat the crap out of your hancs. Unfortunately there is nothing friendly about the devil stick. I had to make it totally rigid. 6lbs of pain.
i want a chain mail ball it look kol how mutch?

GREAT IDEA!!! HOW MUCH FOR A PAIR OF DEVIL STICKS AND 3 BALLS?
oneofakindvirtuoso 9 months ago
@oneofakindvirtuoso the balls run 30$ each and the devil stick never made it past the prototype stage.

i don't know how to juggle or use the devil stick but I like it when people make nice things.
I'm trying to learn how to make a plaited handle, like for a bullwhip, for my staff. I think it might take me some time.

thank you. I killed the stick recently but the balls work very nicely.
