I had a pair of Husky mud flaps on my 08 silverado but I need to take them off. I live in the midwest so I get plenty of snow. What should I do about the holes that were drilled? Just put the screws back in and let it be? Or should I seal it with something? Thanks in advance.
Any advantage to using chalking compound behind the mud flaps? A dealer installed a set using some type of chalking compound between the flaps and vehicle body, claiming that would reduce the possibility of rust. I've never done so, nor have seen anyone else. However, the dealer's premise is logical, so may have some validity. Opinions?
I'm not sure what chalking compound is, maybe you mean caulking? In any case, the flaps we install DO have a thin plastic barrier included in the package that protects the paint from the direct contact of the mudflap. It provides the same type of protection, but does it in a different, cleaner way.
@cyclevan Yes, I did indeed mean caulking compound. Didn't pay enough attention when the spelling checker suggested chalk in place of slightly misspelled caulk. Later edited that to chalking. My apologies.
Never drill into the body like that. A dealer "installed" mud flaps on my car and now its rusting like terrible all around the holes.
