arent these overdrives expensive i searched them on ebay and they sell them 300$ too 800$ why the fuck do they sell them so expensive its just a fucking overdrive pedal
i just scored one of these Boss pedals, an OD1E, anyone know how to date them? the box says 9/14/83 but that doesn't sound right, i could be wrong, though
Thanks for the quick reply! This demo has helped me soooo very much! Can you get a decent boost at lower gain sttings too? I like to shoe horn ts type pedals. Would you recommend?
@dvda0616 OD-1 (like TS-808 type pedals) is good to boost another od/dist. But if you want a "clean" boost they are not so clean, the sound is "colored" but very nice.
OD-1 before another pedal I mean. Anyway I suggest to try with your setting and gear, if you can try a ts-808 style pedal in your pedalboard you can choose in a better way.
My friend Lucio has recorded a clip with the Ts-808 as a boost, check this video code: VUA4rWkEM4A
@Ilovemyfender2 I have an SM57. For the pedal demo actually I prefer to use the Zoom Q3HD, it's more simple to use at home. Anyway I'll try to do some video with cam, Motu and SM57 in the future...:)
I couldn't hear any real sonic differences... I also have a vintage tube screamer (ts9 though) and the same Boss, and a can hear more midrange and grit in the Ibanez versus more presence in the Boss. Do you hear much difference in the two playing them side by side as opposed to this vid?
you can't compare tham man. they are not quite for the same purpose

tube screamer is a bit smoother but both sound good

killfucky8769 what you are saying is not correct.. ts 808 can defenivelely be original without the dash or the simbol Z !!!

I own 3 Boss OD-1s. Each has a different op-amp.

@tonypybus Me too! You have an excellent taste of pedals sir, The one´s i have has the: 3403ADB , JRC4558D , JRC4558DD, which op-amp do you prefer?
smiskf18 5 months ago
@smiskf18 To be honest, they all sound good with slight differences. I don't really have a favorite between them.
tonypybus 5 months ago
@tonypybus to me the smooothest sounding of them is the 3403adb, early model!

@killfuckyou8769 It's a vintage one. It was produced with and without the trademark: check the Analogman site. Anyway thank you.

Does the od1 have more volume on tap than the 808?
dvda0616 9 months ago
@dvda0616 Yes, a little more.

The OD-1 definitely seems hotter.

I know that the SD-1 circuit is very similar to the OD-2 but why wont Boss reissue the OD-1?!
bigfish0886 1 year ago
@bigfish0886 I don't know...:S This OD-1 black label MIJ is a very great od; I agree, I hope to see the RI!

Your demos are fantastic--but please get an SM57 or something! With all the awesome vintage pedsls you have, surely you can afford a good mic.

@djtrouserfunk Hi, thanks.
Your same impressions to my ears, the Boss is a little more open too.
