@KastroThaDon I found out that you can just have one partition with the format MS-DOS(FAT)... That's what I chose for my new Seagate hard-drive... You can use it on Mac, PC, and also the PS3...

what does partition refer to? should I choose 1, 2, or 3?

@toxmot a partition is to divide the memory into 2 or 3 parts... i chose 2... i used one part for Macs, and the other one for Windows...

Tried the same thing on a newer 880gb freeagent and it gave me an error. Any idea why I received this error, "Partition failed with the error: File system formatter failed." Thanks!

After formatting the drive in Disk Utility, is there any of the garbage PC software left over or is it completely erased?
