I remember the RTE production of "The Brother" many years ago. It was absolutely superb and extremely funny. I've been trying to find a copy of it on DVD for years, but without any luck.
Mike - Eamonn Morrissey is going into Fair City later this month(!), but was on Tubridy last week and said he'll b releasing The Brother this year on DVD.
I worked on this play when it was on in Kilburn, I sat behind the hatch and handed Eamon his drinks, matching him pint for pint. Eamon was one of the nicest guys I ever worked with. He knew the play inside out, but every night would be different as he added one story and took others out. I went on to read everything I could find by O'Brien, good times.
I'd love to see more videos from 'The Brother' I had the complete show taped on video when RTE showed it a couple years ago but can't find the tape, this was brilliant classic comedy at it's best.
From 'The Brother', adapted Eamon Morrisey from the writings of Myles Na Gopaleen, and originally staged at the Peacock Theatre, Dublin, in 1974. Full text at hellshaw dot com. Ace. *****

Good old John Kehoe's pub. A Dublin student favourite, then and now.

Eamon Morrissey appeared on The Late Late Show on Friday April 17, 2009. He did his recitation of A Pint Of Plain.
He also did great impersonations of Flann O'Brien and Paddy Kavanagh.

Great stuff. Thanks for the info. I contacted RTE and they were happy to sell me a copy on DVD, for a small fee of€100. I'll wait for the release...

Will you let me know if you have any luck with that? I've tried contacting rte and bluebird productions who made it but no luck so far

I'm not going to pay €100 to RTE for a copy of it, especially as it seems it will be released later this year on DVD (as per the post above).
