That's because Lancer was Bazett's servant, and in short explaination about before the fifth fuyuki grail war started, Bazette was betrayed by the priest (kotomine) and stole her command spells and that's why Lancer's new master was kotomine, and for the part of why they kill each other was because of the gail war, if you're a master & thus have a servant your objective is to ELIMINATE other masters & servants.

And also after four days a new miracle happened, all servants are back, but this time as i said earlier that there is no holy grail war instead they are back AND all of the servants live as a normal human lives.. isn't that great. But a new servant appears and the servant type is Avenger and his name is Angra Mainyu the HG of heavens feel route but no need to worry he'll become friends with all of them anyways... ^_^

Yeah he was in the 3rd holy grail but and was defeated by I don't know who because i only knew little about the history of "HEAVENS FEEL" or HOLY GRAIL, so as i saying avenger doesn't even count as a major threat to shirou or the other masters and servants, and we all knew that bazett quit for being a master because avenger repeated the four days of the holy grail....

So we all knew that in heavens feel route llya save shirou right and on the ending it is said that "new stages and new people are waiting for us", and for that on fate hollow ataraxia a phrase showed and showing that "The act of the fate goes up again, it is promised four days." So by this after the destruction of the great holy grail created by sakura and within four days new events are happening but this time no more holy grail..
