Contrary to popular belief, the Mandalorians were not ALL destroyed @ the Battle of Galidraan, just the True Mandalorian Faction under Jango Fett(the main clan of clans under the rule of "Mandalore".) It temporarily ended the Mandalorians as an effective fighting force(though the Mandalorian Civil War had some credit in doing that.) The Death Watch went on until destroyed by Fett. Fenn Shysa & ARC 02("Spar")gather the survivors of both factions= any non-aligned clans/units 2 fight in the ClnWr

Fett escaped the Sarlaac(twice if you count the Marvel Comics story), was rescued by Dengar & his fiance, chased Han through Nar Shadda for Jabba's clan twice(Dark Empires I & II), finally met & killed Fenn Shysa(albeit it was a mercy killing), and ultimately became Mandalore, supreme ruler of the Mandalorian clans.

For ROTJSE, Lucas put in a scene depicting Fett escaping the Sarlacc(due to overwhelming fan response) then left it on the cutting room floor because he felt it took away from the the overall focus of the film--the story of the Skywalkers. The EU is what's keeping the franchise going(particularly in light of how some fans view the "prequel trilogy".) Ultimately, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Sorry about the double post, but the truth must be heard. Those Expanded "EU" Universe books someone spoke of are to blame for peoples confusion and are not Canon, Fett's still being digested as we speak. However, if he were to return, my idea of Fett's return is the best and could be canon: The Empire could make use of one known as the Galaxy's greatest Bounty Hunter and place (yet another) this time modified clone in Mandalorian armor to assume the role.

Yes, he's dead. Lucas stated that he doesn't read the books...ANY OF THEM, and that they fit into C-Canon and are inconsistant with HIS films. Fett's escaping the Sarlacc wasn't written by Lucas, hence it never happened. That's my view, but also the MAN HISSELF's.

Okay, I respect your opinion but I think most star wars fans in general prefer the older star wars pre-90's movies as opposed to the newer ones. What was lost in creating Jango Fett? Was it because some of Boba Fett's mystery was lost in knowing his origins? Everyone can't be pleased, some(well, ALOT) people wanted Fett in the new movies and he had to come back as a kid since it's a prequel. Since he's a kid, he needed a father and that's what we got.

Yeah Fett does survive and turns out to be one of the biggest well known characters in the star wars universe. The part that I hate is I know he survives from the Sarlacc pit and then theres the people that think he died right there. Never count out the best Bounty Hunter in the galaxy that easy.
