  • Mate i need to run a 2.5 HP 40L compresser-what size gen should i be looking for ?Thanks

  • Mate i need to run a 2.5 HP 40L compresser-what size should i be looking for ?Thanks

  • Not a bad idea! Those $99 1200W ones are great when you just want to power a few small items. Cause the noiser bigger ones like the 3650 W one I have, would not be feasible use just to run just a few lights and a TV.

  • Is it still running today? Does pep boys still sell these for 99 bucks?

  • Breath in breath out I love exaust hahahaha Nice litler gen man .. it can power your Jacuzzi when the powers out

  • HARBOR FREIGTH TOOLS GOT THEM FOR 89.99 1000 PEAK,850 WATT MAX

  • do you think this little generator could run a batery charger so i can charge my boat batery. ??

  • @ezkill99 Yes! No problem! As a matter of fact there's a 12v output already built in just for that purpose. (If you want to charge faster then you'd have to buy a charger and plug it into one of the AC outlets, though.)

  • so when a brilliant flash in the sky from a nuke comes this is what you will have? a fan and light? nice! $99 is a steal. I bought the 3000 watt. At least I'll have cold beer till the end.

  • @ericvonp That's pretty funny. Did you even read any of my text? The very FIRST word in my description is "ONE." This is ONE of my generators! I have three. (NOT BRAGGING, just responding.) My 5KW will do my family nicely until the gas runs out. Really, this one is just a toy. But, it's a really nice toy if you need about a kilowatt of 120v PURE SINE power. Hey, maybe we could share a beer and watch the light show! Take care, man!

  • @DrDave1911 This generator isn't a toy. Its capable of a lot more. I run 2 computer systems during brownouts here in the Islands. My busines depends on this little guy. And it has handled itself well with NO problems.

  • @NBAGOATS Hum, sorry if I came across in a negative fashion. I might have better said gadget? To me it's just one of my "toys." (Gadgets) And, you're right! Don't underestimate what you can do with a kilowatt! Cheers!

  • @ericvonp I connected a refridge and a TV to mine along with 2 cellphone chargers for 3 days straight

  • @DrDave1911 How would you ground it?

  • @slowride55 I have a 4 foot ground rod that I installed in my yard. And I always use it when I run power cords into the house. However, I hardly ever use it any other time. It is MUCH safer, but, I've never had a problem. There's no GFI installed and the "return" line is internally referrenced to itself. Also, it sits on large rubber insulators. This is what I do and NOT what you should be doing. Always ground your generator.

  • @DrDave1911 So do you mean like bolt a wire to the generator and then to the ground rod?

  • @slowride55 Yep! That's all there is to it. I've even seen ground kits for sale that attach to the cold water line that comes into the average home. There's should be a ground lug with a nut or bolt somewhere on the generator that's just for this purpose. Just a good heavy gauge wire. (Try for green.)

  • that is 'NOT' quiet. look at the honda videos.

  • i have a generator just like this just different brand, mine says its 1800w tho same exact thing so i dont know know if its true, anyway i use this for camping and it works awesome, it will run everything we need it to, im talking about on my camper (except the a/c) very fuel efficient as well it will run 15hrs on about a gallon of gas thats near 50% load.

  • @Saiga76239mm chances of being shocked by a generator is very small. the only way to get shocke by a generator is if you touch both hot and ground or hot and neutral on the end of an open wire.

  • I agree. It's a good deal. And to think.... Some people are against chinease sweat shop child labor! They make our stuff sooo cheap!! I'm for all about child sweat shop labor!! I can see, so are you!!

  • I lived in a solar home, 24 volt system, and these generators are great filling in the times of the wet season lasting 5 months. the generator was sitting in a shed 50 meters away, long extension lead to a home made 600VA battery charger feeding the battery banks, and washing machine. Very reliable. But due to my dads insistence of using a cheap oil, I had to de-carbonize the piston and ports every 4 months of continuous use for optimum output. We worn out about 2 generators over 4 years.

  • 99 dollars? wow, no idea they were so inexpensive - thanks for posting :P

  • I don't know if they're still on sale, but, I just saw the same thing (just a different label) at HarborFreight for $89! That really makes it worth it. Even if they do have a few eccentricities! :-)

  • @DrDave1911 oh awsome - i live near a harbor freight. wonder how easy it would be to change the output to around 40VDC at around 800 watts peak. my electric scooter would get like 250MPG. :P

  • Do youself a favor I have the same one, for all the people saying it takes 20 pulls to start, I hd the same issue, for one it needs a primer bulb, so you can get an in line primer bulb and instal it on the fuel line right below the fuel cutoff switch, then also you can install a real air filter, the oem one is not real great and it gets clogged and doesnt allow air in to let fuel pass, and with any 2-stroke the first time of the season always needs a little starter fluid, but all in all good one

  • if some people use this generator in a camping ... i came back to home to take a gun.... 95 db ..no thanks

  • But the gun's even louder than the generator! :-)

  • @DrDave1911 ya b8ut ya only hear it for a split second... lol

    good deal on the generator.

  • wher can i but one i been looking hard

  • Not bad, but very LOUD!

Is it 2 or 4 stroke?

  • @ComPrt3 sounds like a 2 stroke

  • note this, never bypass the trip switch, i did it to my 1000 watt generator ran too many things off of it and fried it.

  • I've the same generator, but mine is called Einhell.

A little 2-stroker that goes on and on.

Since it's a 2-stroke,one can increase the engine output by mounting a tuned pipe.Won't lessen the noise though...

  • Can it run the air pump for my gold fish Goldies's bowl? Thanks

  • Looking for a add on muffler for these things that really cut the noise down.... someone told me they exist and am just tracking down the rumor. I have one of these 1000watt things and if I can get the noise down I'll keep it. Thanks...

  • The engine will well outlast the generator head; it is very overbuilt. I've had one of these torn down and I was quite impressed with the build quality of the engines.

  • That's great to know, thanks!

  • Can this power something like a indoor grill (camping purposes?) Or possibly a small microwave?

    Sorry for the dumb question

    thanks

  • Well, this is a bit of a hard question to answer. But I'll try. This little guy can produce 1000 watts. So anything less than, or equal to, that should work. I've powered small toaster ovens, small window air conditioners, fans, shop lights, etc... Even a hair 1875 watt hair dryer! But!!!! Put the hair dryer on full and it will pop the circuit breaker right away. I had to run it on low or medium setting. One last note, in case you appliances don't show watts, this is about 8 amps.

  • The first thing I did was replace the shitty sparkplug that came with it, now it starts and runs great. Ive used it for days up where I camp to power a 600 watt heater.

  • I was "frugal," not cheap! :-)

And, if you'd read my description, you'd know that this is only "one" of my generators. So yes, I already have a "bigger" genny.

This one was just for fun. I mean really, who can pass up a kilowatt for less than a hundred smackers.

Also, it's been running over two years and is as strong as the day I bought it. YMMV.

  • he was cheep and look what he got shoud have gotten a bigger generator

  • See how long it lasts.

  • i have an 1800wt homelite that is quieter than that...

  • what is the price for one of those???

  • They occasionally go on sale for $99.

  • that´s a good price...thanks bro...

  • I have one of these and it actually does pretty damn well. Its what I used to power my office previous to my Honda eu2000i. It's not the quietest genny in the world, and the Honda totally eats its lunch, but it's certainly not a bad lil guy. I had an APC UPS in between it and my office equipment to maintain stable voltage and it worked great. Don't be so quick to down something you don't own, or know nothing about, people.

  • Whay ever you do don't use these two stroke gennys for sensative equipment like a pc. when these start to run out of fuel and run lean the voltage can go up quite a bit. A fourstroke invertor type is a much better machine and does not need two stroke oil/petrol mix and are much quieter running and run much longer on a smaller tank full. I though two strokes were being outlawed in the States???

  • lol, they are, that's why this chump got the thing for $99.

  • No, 2-strokes are not outlawed in the US. CA has "clean air acts" that put a cap on emissions and what engines you can use, however i think some 2-strokes are still allowed. As far as a nation-wide EPA ban on them; no, no such thing exists and as far as i am aware of there are no other emissions restrictions on them in any other state.

  • In CA the 2 Strokes have to be CARB apporved or you get in big trouble for running it if it's not.

  • I've readen commentarys lots of them have bad critics of this machine . i've one and its satified me .its just for suplying a fridge and bulbs when there is a long mains failure and not more . don't attempt to suply big home appliance with this little portable generator !!

  • and make sure that is a small fridge, not exceding 1200 watt surge, otherwise it wont start

  • Hello , it's a one compressor combinated fridge(150liters) and freezer(80liters ) the compressor comsumes 200watts ( but more when starting) and the bulbs are low-consumption models , i can supply a 14" crt tv with a digital terrestrial tv decoder connected on.When i do it i turn off electric water-warmer an the electrics heathers too.Its just for a short time only (supply failures ) , have a good day

  • Turn the fan around. Blow it in your house please.

  • What a wonderful, kind, caring and thoughtful person you are.

And so full off @#$%, I mean creative ideas! Shirley, your mother must be very proud of you!

Or, perhaps, you've heard about my termite problems and were simply offering a more cost effective solution?

At any rate, the threat on my life, and that of my family, has been noted and communicated to the proper authorities. :-)

So, please don't go too far as someone will be with you shortly to discuss this matter. :-)

  • A threat, suuuuuuurrrrrrrre....

  • lol

  • Chinese crap.

  • it may be chinese crap, it runs and portable enough for small usage, i got one myself and i only use it as a battery charger, i seldomly use the 110 volts plugin :P and on top of that, it weighs 40 lbs

  • i have one identicle to that but its made by contractor tools or something. bought it 2 days ago. my friend has one too his ran a 5000 btu a/c for 3 days during hurricane gustav and still works.

i wonder whats the difference in the brands. i have seen many diff brands of the same unit.

    so far so good.

  • dont buy one of these peices of shit, first one i bought the engine lost spark, took that one back and then the second one blew the generator out and it wouldnt produce any power, took it back and got my money back, now buying a yamaha EF2000i like i should have in the first place

  • During Hurricane Ike all you could hear in the neighborhoods were generators.

  • that little 2 stroke runs real nice.

  • i love my generator that is similar to that it is a cool "genny" $126.62 shiping included for 50 lb shiping and a great generator

  • i got the same generator, but different name, same parts as well, i bought it for me to use it as a battery charger, and sometimes to cool down inside my van on a hot days, it runs more than 10 hours on a tank, got it for 89 bucks at meijer store

  • that generator is brush less those gennys are sold under may name the on i ordered is the tq tg1200 on ebay rightnow for 126.94 shiped buy ups.

  • Thanx for your vid...I was thinking about buying one of these...I know they are cheap but probably useful..Do you know if they are brushless?

  • You can see a lot of JUNK from PEPBOYS AUTO CENTER! even the service is junk...lol

  • I have the same generator, just a different brand (GenMate from Canadian Tire). It is loud allright but dependable and I also paid 99$ for it. Almost 1000hrs of use so far. Not bad, like you say in your vid.

  • Another gas saving trick is to put vital lighting on a large computer ups unit. This way you got plenty of time to start the generator(i give the power company 60 minutes) and you can see what your doing too:) I got a cyberpower 1500AVR and its running for nearly 2 hours(with a computer attached) and even with a CFL torch lamp its barely loaded(<20%). If i need all the lights, thats what the champion 7500/6500 watt unit is for, nothing like mowing the lawn at 2 am!

  • Don't laugh yet. Mine got me through Hurricane Gustov. I was out of power for 4 hours and the one I have ran the whole time.

  • Something that small would never be of any use to me. I'm using a 5000W atm and it isn't enough. :(

  • yes those generators are shit i bought a antique honda e300 for 50$ its much better

  • that's one loud mother

  • have a Honda 3000ie that i can run 24-7 with no complaints from the neighbors 30 feet away.

  • way to loud to use in residential area

  • Yeah. Unless it's during the day, or, a natural disaster. Still, it's a hint quieter than a lawnmower. But you'd need aweful good neighbors to let you mow at 2am! :-)

  • I have one of these it takes like 50 pulls when cold and needs choke even when hot

  • Yeah, that sounds about right!

  • it helps if you turn off the fuel valve 20-30 seconds before you turn it of and turn on the fuel valve and wait another 10 seconds before you start it again.

  • i have the same genorator and it is a piece of shit

  • Yeah, different lots can make a big difference. Also, if you're used to better then you'd have a different opinion.

You simply can't compare this to, say, a Honda!

Mine can be hard to start. (And that makes me not like it at times.) But, for the price, I really like what I got.

  • I have one of those also. Mine has been ok. It kept me from being in the dark a few nights, when everyone else was. I agree with the hard to start, especially if its already hot. The starter has a plastic tooth that comes out and grabs the flywheel, when you start it. That plastic tooth on mine broke. I holesawed a hole in the top of the starter and now I use a socket on the end of a drill. Not hard to start at all, now.

  • i have the same genorator it is a piece of shit

  • you get what you pay for, its way too loud, I got a Honda 2000i dirt cheap $50 bucks, it is quiet.

  • i have one of these, they're great! Liam

  • Why can't generators come with a REAL Muffler?

You know one that actully muffles the sound? I wouldn't want to try running that sucker at night, you'll have cops at your door fairly quickly.

  • There are some, Honda comes to mind, that really are quiet. It's not all exhaust noise, though. Much of the noise on a cheap genset comes from inside the engine.

You are correct on the cops. I wouldn't wager a dime on my chances of running it for any length of time before being shut down!

  • Seems a tad bit on the loud side, but for only $100? Not bad...

  • illegal in california.its a two stroke.thats why it is loud.

  • Actually, I bought it in California. And it is legal. However it's also been derated in capacity because they had to add a catalytic converter for C.A.R.B. compliance.

  • I don't own one of these or live in California, but my question is if you live outside the state and visited CA would it be illegal to run it then? I personally have a honda2000 and a couple other units that are louder then that one but they also have to run a bigger load.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!
