The thought has come to mind that if they don't care about it why should i ? I'm going to persue it again in 2012 and see if there is a different result, The borough is very clear that nothing can be done to the cemetery without the approval of the knights of columbus. I'll keep you posted if I make any head way. Thanks
@DEADDAVE05 You seem like a nice guy, and since I did grow up in the area knowing all about how local borough's work, I do hope that you make some headway with this. Them saying it's not that bad is just wrong. Keep me informed. Thanks.
If you ever get approval, my wife and I will help out if needed. We are both from the area.
@BGRAND18237 to your point about the church letting me do it for free, that's exactly it. I backed down from trying to push the issue with the community because I did not get the support from those who give the "ok", I became frustrated because I wanted to do just that, Have fund raisers and repair the stones and take care of the grounds, but was greeted with the thought that it's not that bad and it's not necessary to do anything about it!
@BGRAND18237 You're right I should lighten up, Please feel free to make that statement when someone steals the head stone of your loved one. If you did your research you would find that the cemetery is owned by the church and anyone good intention or not has to get the approval from them first, I have gone down that road and am involved If I eventually make head way with the powers that be you'll be the first person i'll contact to get involved. Thanks for volunteering to help.
@DEADDAVE05 Watch Part 1 because I do mention the Church by name. I highly doubt, by the way, that the Church would not let you clean it up for free. Let me know when you have the green thumb ready. I'll gladly help out. I just hope that we make it out OK. Those loved one's are in heaven also. Thier shells are buried in the ground. Every good Catholic knows that. Regardless, the cemetery is a disgrace and the Church should fix it up and not just enjoy the "pew collection" money for themselves.
@DEADDAVE05 Lighten up. It's easy to act like you care while typing on a keyboard. Pay for it yourself or have a community fundraiser. You pass by it and act like you care about the dead, but you let it in such disarray. The Knights are not doing thier job so step up to the plate "Mr Concerned citizen". By the way , not everyone vandalizes and those urban legends are probably around a lot longer than you. Maybe I'll see you there someday when I'm visiting. We could plant flowers together.
