  • Hehe. Smith machine half squats with entirely too much weight... Better than the guy I saw last night at my gym. He had a plate on with a pussy pad and did 5 reps of quarter squats before watching tv for the next ten minutes. Btw, do his legs look way too close together to anyone else?

  • maybe he's like me. i can't squat due to some reason in the way my legs are structured. when i bend down (squat down) all the way i stand on the ball of my feet. and when i try to put my whole foot down i fall backwards. not to mention that my knees bend inwards making my thighs super close together (i'm not that fat)

Also someone said foam on the bar was for pussies. If you find the bar uncomfortable on your shoulders surely it's acceptable to use some foam? After all it's a leg workout so might as well keep the shoulders comfortable right?????

  • 1) Using the smith machine to squat (forces an unnatural movement pattern, no stabilization, not safe bottom position for knees) -- freeweight squat is superior in all aspects.

    2) Using way too much weight and no range of motion

    3) Leaning forward and putting a ton of pressure on his lower back.
