I know how you feel, my little hammy "mini-ñiñi" is 1 year and 10 months old... she hasn't her lovely soft hair, I must clean her every day too, and now she is so quiet... But I love how she kiss my hand all the time (licking xD), more than ever ^^ My lady hammy is so cute *^^*

She's so sweet! I love little furry animals, and it's especially touching to get to spend time with them when they get older. You made me a special cupcake necklace when my pet guinea pig cupcake died, and I remember her everyday when I wear it. Sheryl, my hampster lived active for 4 and a half years. She had a stroke and died suddenly. And in summer she would jump into her water dish to cool off. The only thing I can think of that I did differently was use natural bark and let her tear it up to form a nest and she ate table scraps all year round and berries I picked during the summer. Never fed her hampster food because it was too fattening.

Sad thing about hamsters is they don't live long. Only about 2-3 years. Mine just died a couple months ago, but I don't miss him much because I got him from a friend who had too many animals. She obviously had no time to handle him because he wasn't tame and would bite :(

Aww soo cute.. I had hamsters when I was younger and one of the babies tooth grew way over its head.. it was constantly cutting itself and bleeding =/.. we had to cut the tooth off.. i felt so bad.. What happened to her your hamster??

I had a blueberry dwarf hamster. It died a year ago =[ I miss it. It lived a good long life. It was active and healthy till the day she died. She was just running on her wheels a few hours before she died. & she died going up to the second level to reach her bed. She almost made it. She got to the top hole & her poor heart just gave out =[ I feel guilty for not spending much time with her at one point because I was just so busy with school. *sigh*

I had a hamster that was about 3 years and a couple of weeks, it was very tired all the time though it didn´t loose fur or anything like that.. It was also a dwarf hamster and looked just like yours :) It died three weeks ago, two weeks after our 9 year old guineapig died "/ I do know that having such a small and delicate animal you must let it go sooner than most people wish.. it´s very sad to see that your animal aren´t feeling well, that´s even worse than seeing your animal dy, sad enough :(

I remember when I got my dwarf hamster! My cousin used to keep him in the closet because he ran his wheel all night and it drove her nuts! lol I felt so bad for him I took her off her hands. I never owned a hamster before, but it was defiantly a great choice! :D

Some hamsters bite, some don't

I had some pet mice, they never bit me.

Best pet ever was a ferret. She was so much silly fun.

So little she could jump into a tissue box. She loved to play with kittens.

She was like 4 times faster and smarter than the kittens.

They had fun together.

aw cheryl, that means I have been following your youtube for more than two years since I remember the time you were so excited about getting Tofu! I had raised a pet hamster 6 years ago as well and have a glimpse of feeling - those 2-3 years pass way too quickly! anyway you are doing really good job with feeding and keeping Tofu feel comfortable!

People, if the hamster is young and healthy you can give them the same sand that chinchilla's use, and they'll have a lot of fun bathing on it. You shouldn't give it a bath with water unless there's a really good reason for that.

But in this case this is a really really old hamster, so she needs help to stay clean and to eat. The owner seems to be doing a really good job!
