that truck is suck as fuck. i have the same truck but 97 and different color, but it kinda make's me sad when i see such a beautiful truck getting treated like that.
@MrPowerstroke73l If it can't handle a 16 year old flopping the throttle, doing some donuts in the mud, I don't want it and it would never handle ranch duty or hauling 35K pounds around. It's not like I was ramming it up against rocks or jumping it, which I would never do in this pearl.
@houseofdiesel what the fuck are you talking about all i said is that its not good for a 8,000 pound truck to be doing that. its not really good for any truck, anything could break. and what the hell are you talking about hauling 35k around.
@simba30001 E4OD are pieces of crap anyways. If the trans can't hold up to this, then there is no way it can dependably tow 15-20K Lbs. It blew 2 trans after I started up grading it, and now it's set and takes anything I throw at it. The stock E4OD can't even handle the stock horsepower, and doesn't last more than a week with this kind of power. For over 300 HP at the wheels they need a fully built E4OD. Same with most Cummins and the other 7.3s with the 4R100s.
@chpenney26 lol, no blow off valve, that is the OE turbo that Turbo Engineering hoped up on the cheep for me so I could dyno it with the bad ass Hypermax Injectors and run for a bit until I could throw down the doe for the big turbo. It made it a couple thousand miles over about 6 months.
@dcastro95 Had Turbo Engineering rebuild it for me. It only lasted about 5000 miles but I new that going in. It was a cheap fix to match the injectors for a few months so I could save up the cash for a full on custom turbo.
Ohhhhhh let it smoke let it smoke....powerstroke em all the way.... cummins failed... and durajoked all the way yay!!! lol POWERSTROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
yea,i didnt make myself clear, sry about that, but it seems around here everyone gets stacks with no upgrades at all to the motor, and stacks are way too free flowing for stock motor.what size injectors are you running?
lol Ya I actually threw the stacks on this right before we threw the injectors in and dynoed it. 175 RWHP :o It was funny as hell. So to think it ran 325 RWHP with just Injectors and a Modified OE Turbo is mind blowing. Now I've got an oil pressure issue. I don't know if we did something wrong on the Stealth HPOP install, but between that and the Hypermax Turbo it should be at least 400-450 and it's not even close.
Not when your throwing this much extra fuel. Besides almost all sled and drag rule spec upward point exhaust or they won't let you touch the track. It gets old cleaning your bumper and quarter panel every couple days.
Why yes it is. I sent it to Turbo Engineering to rebuild the OE one. It was a temporary fix to match my injectors. Thanks though let me know if ya ever need anything for yours.
No, after I threw the injectors in I didn't have the money to put the turbo on that it needed so I just had Turbo Engineering rework the OE Turbo. It was a temporary fix, and only lasted about 7500 miles.
I didn't have the money at the time for the Hypermax Turbo so I had Turbo Engineering Rework the OE Turbo for the time being. It lasted me about 15K miles. It served its purpose. For $700-800 buck for the time being and still able to put out 325 RWHP I was happy. I missed dynoing it last week with the new Hypermax Turbo but I'll post it as soon as I do.
I can't wait to dyno it again. I just swapped out the Turbo to a Hypermax after destroying the OE refurbished one. I new the reworked one wouldn't last very long with the injectors and tune, but I squeaked a year out of it.
No, the I let my buddies 15 year old daughter do it right before that. She sis do really well though. She just didn't know how to lay on the throttle before the turbo could spool up to get the smoke rollin'. Her vid was just a lot of throttle abuse.
They were only running 1100-1200. EGT's aren't like an engine temp. They don't continue to go up unless the load is constant like pulling a grade. Empty playing doesn't run them up as much. If the mud was thicker and deeper though the load would have been more and the EGTs would have been a bit higher.
No kiddin huh? Well i just got a custom chip for my 2000 PSD and i try to lay off the pedal but every now and then i hammer it down and it's just a cloud of smoke. I haven't gotten any guages yet so i probably need those. About what temp should i be worried about? I hear most people say 1250 is the magic number for EGT's.
The 99-03 7.3 should run about 1250. If your running a programmer that isn't turned down and tow its going to pass that right up. Hypermax makes the Tapercore Intercoolers which has more volume than any other on the market by 10-20%, which other than backing down the tuner is the only true way to lower EGTs.
I'm in the market for a bigger turbo now, the one i'm lookin at guarentee's a 200 degree drop in EGT's. After that a stage 1 intake, and that'll be it for a few months. Speaking of Intercoolers, what do you think of the Banks intercooler? When the time comes that's what i was leaning towards...
The banks has larger inlets to push more air but doesn't have that mcuh more volume over the OE so the air is therefore just as hot or hotter than and OE Intercooler. Who's turbo where you leaning towards?
The Garrett turbo. Guarentee's 33% air flow increase and 80 HP/130 T. (I'm all about guarentee's BTW) I looked up that Hypermax intercooler, which one are you running? I believe they had 3 different ones for the 7.3.
The Tapercore's are only available for the 6.0s and 7.3s. I ran their Intercoolers on all of the 7.3 we had my brothers two and my wifes Excursion and both my '96s. I was just getting ready to replace the Banks one on my 6.0 with it, but now I have to get rid of my 6.0 by the end of the year due to California's new Diesel smogs starting next year. If you live in California make sure that whatever Turbo you replace the OE one with is CARB Certified!
I'd have to pull all of my program, and find someone to look the other way when inspecting for Cat, Muffler, EGR, OE Turbo, exc....and pull off the boost fooler so that the ECM doesn't throw an over boost code. I'm fine cause I got the '96 F250, '06 Mega Cab, '62 F250 6.0 PS, and '84 F350 that I'll be putting a 6.0 PS in.
That's why I specified the '96 was OK. But I've read and heard both '97 and '98 so I have no idea what in the hell they are using to draw their line. Oh that's right they are tree hugging Dem's they play with us as much as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if they draw it all the way back to '94 when Ford started using OBD ports. I'm tired of this crap they did the same thing on the motorcycle I bought and backdated emissions labels so I can't register it here in Cali.
Hypermax Competition Injectors with a reworked OE Turbo. Its only pushing 35 Lbs of boost. It would be even worse when I put a high pressure oil pump on it. It still gets 18-20 MPG too. Eventually I'll put twins on it, but that will mean pulling the motor and about 10-15K.
I'm not sure exactly. I originally bought the Injectors from Hypermax back in 2002 for my old '96 F350 Standard Cab. I sold the truck before I installed them, so they've just been sitting on the shelf. They are probably 225-250s. I remember I paid a lot. But I run Hypermax Injectors cause he's got the experience. They're not about quantity they are about quality. I have a few friends that have tried other manufacturers and they can't even come close.
Oh yeah totally, I bleed the blue oval so if I did a conversion it would have to be the 7.3... I like cummins but they are better off where they belong..under the hood of a dodge..
sick truck!!! i want to get a 94-97 powerstroke but cant find one around here that i can afford or one that hasnt been beat to hell... thinkin bout doin a swap in my 95 f150... the 302 in it just aint quite powerful enough and i love the sound of a turbo spooling up + black smoke... F**K the EPA!!! lol
Its worth it. The IDI 7.3 is the easiest swap. The 6.0 is the best performance. And if you do a 5.9 Cummins your a trader. (J/K) The 5.9 is the easiest, cheapest, and most powerfull, its just not for me. I only put the same brand motors in the same brand chassis.
pretty sweet truck! have you ever blown the PS pump mudding? I have 36" hummer tires on my 94' stroker with stage 2's, a D66 turbo and south bend clutch among other things and every time I take it mudding I need a new PS pump!
Do you mean HPOP? This ones tapped out. I'm going to put a Terminator on it as soon as I finish the '62 6.0 PS, the Rockwells on the SuperCrawler, and the Twins on the '05. Man I need to stick to one at a time, this is getting expensive.
my HPOP is the same way, but no the power streering pump. with the bigger tires I have had NO luck with them. thought maybe there was a trick to get them to last longer in the mud.
Ahhh. Brain lock, sorry. PSC makes a hydro assist for the 7.3 PS Motor. Hade it on my old '96 with 44" Michellins. Worked great. Send me your email in private and I'll send you a picture of the truck.
i got a 97 psd and i got the 36" military oz goodyears also and my pump hasn't given much problems and i go muddin at least twice a week. it leaqked a little when i bought it but not real bad. it still leaks about the same. i needs a little fluid like once every two months. its a beast though!
The stock pumps work fine. The problem lies when trying to max out the injectors. The Powerstroke motors can only produce more fuel by increasing the oil pressure. Small numbers can be seen in other ways but huge numbers can only come with fuel, oil, and turbo pressure.
Ya I needed more boost to match the huge Hypermax Injectors, and was just tight on cash at the time. I didn't want to put a big ass turbo on it and have no low end and am set on more efficient twins setup instead.
I've been very happy with it. Its a Stocker reworked by Turbo Engineering, boosting 35+. Just a quick fix until Jefferson State Diesel gets done with the twins on the '05, then its the '96s turn for a set. You can see I've got too much fuel and need more boost.
I just did it to get some cool vid. I beat on the '05. Later that day I bent the track bar and snapped the hub splines in the '05 climbing a hill. The '96 is the princess of my rigs. I'm setting it up for 400-550 RWHP, light offroad, and lots of towing. I tried to set the '06 MegaCab up that way, but it hates towing my gooseneck fully loaded.
Hypermax is a little more money, but well worth it. the kits for the early models are way cleaner and easier to install than competitors and the new model Tapercore Intercoolers are unmatched in volume.
was it lifted or did it just have mud tires? i cant tell...
