I have been married to the same man for 33 years; marriage between a man and a woman gives the man ownership. Traditional marriage in my opinion has never been a "good deal" for the woman; up until 1995 a man couldn't be charged for raping his wife because under law he owned her. Traditional marriage is just a bunch of patriarch BS and I think a Union of Partners would be a better thing to have for both gay and straight humans; equality.(smile)

Heterosexuals marry all the time OUTSIDE of the church. Couples go to their local City Hall to be wed outside of the church. The church doesn't OWN the word marriage. Marriage is not necessarily a religious institution - only if the couple chooses for it to be and marries within the church. There are many different ways couples marry and for a variety of reasons.

Listen, there is nothing wrong with two people of the same sex being in love and wanting to solidify that in a legaly binding sense. But you can not call this union marrige. I am a Christian and I beleive that marrige is the union of a man and a woman under the eyes of god, as stated in the bible. homosexuals should not be allowed to marry. Aside from it being physically impossible for them to have sex, there is the issue of children. If they can adopt, whats to stop them from teaching the kids to be homosexual. Also, if they have low enough morals to try and have sex with another man, whats to stop them from molesting the boy children?

Nobody's banning anything, we're denying a request to treat a union that isn't as beneficial as marriage with the same treatment. The whole black civil rights thing doesn't work, only an issue of equal protection if the unions are equal. Name one thing an interracial couple can't do that a same race couple can...nothing. Name one thing a gay couple can't do...marriage, small % can't have kids, gay union 100% incapable of children by natural means. Different beasts.

Doesn't our planet have enough children? How about the many starving? uneducated? homeless? Under your rules those unable/no interested in having children couldn't get married.
