  • i knew rapiers wher real dudesidedwhat sad they wher a fake sword i think i won =P

  • What do you do when some gangster goose comes outa nowhere and tres to mug you? Pull your rapier out of bat shit nowhere and gracefully stab it multiple times.

  • nice balloon test... it really shows how good this sword is...fail for a video.

  • for this video you guys shouldnt have played your background music. some classical music wouldve been better cuz this some fancy shit

  • ok no offense but if ur gonna use rapiers plz dont use that background music i beg u its so akward

  • @csknives

What I meant is that the people using the rapier in this video seem like they have just picked up the weapon for the first time. Rapiers, while meant for thrusting, are fully capable of slashing through the type of meat you used. A skilled rapier slash or two and a few well executed lunges would have been much more appealing.

  • @Struedelmuffin The people using the rapier in this demonstration not only developed and helped design this model but they have sparred and fought countless hours with it as well as using it against a variety of target mediums (including meat). One of them is an Olympic rated fencer. All of them are noted sword experts. I assure you they know how to use these swords.

  • Easily the most impressive rapier someone on a moderately sized budget could afford. My only complaint is that the demonstrators lack technique and make the weapon look a bit unprofessional.

  • @Struedelmuffin "demonstrator lack technique"? The Olympic rated fencers and world renowned swordsmen? Technique and form is a little different when actually lunging and piercing tough material and solid flesh. the resistance given by these materials has to be taken into consideration.

  • LMAO YES!

  • I stopped being impressed by coldsteel products when it took one guy like 49 whacks of one of their machetes to chop through a 2x4 clamped in a vise. I could do that in 10 with the shittiest machete on eath

  • @oldstock1607 feel free to do that and film it. Thats what we do. We back up everything we say.

  • @BeardedJustice are they stainless steel, like most shit or is it carbon steel? Is it full tang?

Is it properly heat treated? Do the they use an Appleseed profile on there blades? As I said I've never handled their weapons and was only assuming so please inform me about them by answering my questions.

  • Peter Pan at 2:29

  • hand guard*

  • dude they deboned the pig....you could stab through that with a butter knife...I've never handled one of cold steel's weapons but I'm gonna guess they are like most sword manufacturers in this day and age...shitty. most of the time sword a these days have a seperate metal dowl for the handle that is spot welded onto the blade..any real weapon would be one solid piece aside from the pommel and hang guard.

  • @valentekevin100 Actually no, not at all. Their swords are actually extremely well made.

  • @valentekevin100 They did not debone the pig.

You can actually hear ribs split if you pay attention.

  • @guildlover2 As if he is going to run faster with a rapier as opposed to any other sword?

Concerning reach, well, that's just the length of the blade and the length of the guy's arm. The balloon test doesn't show that any more than the rest of the tests.

To be honest, none of the Cold Steel tests show anything particularly surprising. If you stab or cut something it gets stabbed or cut. The only people it really impresses are those who aren't familiar with swords or knifes/machetes.

  • @SkinnyGuy31 "The only people it really impresses are those who aren't familiar with swords or knifes/machetes."

And that's exactly what these tests are done for.

To show that the products are functional, and to impress/interest new potential customers.

I see nothing wrong with that.

  • @Skullchaser08 how effective would this rapier be for cutting and slashing?

  • @supersmash43 It's designed as a thrusting weapon so it's not ideal for cutting and slashing. However, we have a wide range of swords that perform those tasks exceptionally well. If you want a sword and dagger combo that will cut, thrust, slash and stab I suggest the Italian Longsword and companion dagger.

  • @supersmash43 Well the rapier is a fencing weapon primarily designed for thrusting and that's where the focus of this weapon's design definitely lies. Indeed, the estoc, a similar fencing sword, is made with blunt edges and only a sharp tip. That said, rapiers do, 9 times out of 10, have sharp edges that are more than capable of delivering some nasty cuts to human flesh, but probably nothing lethal unless certain arteries were hit. And don't expect to go hacking through water bottles with it.

  • @SkinnyGuy31 You may be "familiar with swords" but are you familiar with cutting or stabbing targets? The theory is great (our staff are keen historians as well as fighters) but you must also understand the physical act of cutting. Our products may make it look easy, but it isnt.

  • I see I'm not alone in wondering what the balloon popping shows...

  • i just started rapier... and this is really weird...

I'm a sport fighter, but still, this is gross. I wish we could leave fencing as a martial art.

  • Why wouldn't they hire an actual fencer for this demonstration?

  • I fail to see the relevance of popping the balloon. Other than proving that the guy can't do a proper flesh that is. Everything else, very impressive, but my practice Epee could break a balloon and it's dull and almost three years old.

  • that guys going to pop his kneecap the way he's lunging..... just saying. Nice sword though

  • just saying real parrying daggers where a bit longer than that, and all you did was stab the meat, not very impressive

  • i have a rapier on runescape

  • Nice weapon, but the guys are really not much into history. The rapier was give up for fashion reasons? Ridiculous. The blades got shorter, the hand guards more complete and the main gauche got obsolete through better technique and zingo! It was no longer a rapier, but an epee. And what has that stupid runing for a balloon to do with it. Either you do period fencing, or you go to a shooting range. Lamentable. And yes, there were no rapier moves at all, no cutting... Peasants...

  • Being born in the nineties, I never thought I'd get my chance to be a swashbuckler, but thanks to Cold Steel, my dreams have come true! Now I roam from bar to bar blasted on Gin looking for a good fight.

    Thanks Cold Steel!

  • I think I speak for everyone when I say "Please post some saber vids!"

  • i wasn't impressed... UNTIL HE POPPED THE BALLOON HOLY SHIT.

  • I dont like the guy doing this commercial

  • 1:50 die you out of fashion jacket, die!

  • liven up the next dull wedding party fast with ... . . 'kiss chase Rapier & burst the balloons . .... .'

  • Damn this is one beautiful weapon o.O

  • the dagger looks like a sai.....

  • come on! throw the dagger

  • @Feligatre99 WOW, your a little doucher aren't you?

  • @Feligatre99 What does being from an underprivileged family have anything to do with ones intelligence? And you seem to like the word "imbecile" a lot. Is that your only insult? Don't tell others to "eff off" when you are the one who brought the heat kiddo. I bet you do this kind of shit cause you have a lot of anger problems and you know you can't just go out in the real world and tell people this stuff. You'd get your f-ing head blown off. Troll.

  • @Feligatre99 Playing word games does not make you smarter. Law enforcement does in fact protect others, doctors do not. They simply treat people who have been afflicted. And you are telling ME to calm down? You are the one who came in guns blazing into an argument that had nothing to do with you. Other than the fact that you clearly like to show off. A tip: Grow up. People will like you more.

  • @Feligatre99 Ok then. Wow. Just wow. So you are saying that law enforcement is NOT appropriate as a profession for the protection of others? WTF Confused as hell. And you don't have to get so freggin hostile buddy. I can't debate because I agree with the debater? Uh, we are on two separate planes of existence clearly. Last I checked a debate happens because two parties disagree. I think you just want to sound smart, and try to bring others down. Who is really the "higher up" here?

  • (cont'd)

, or you grab your Rapier and stab him in the eye. Which one sounds like a smarter idea?

  • I just wanna say one thing. To the guys that say you'd never use a Rapier, what if you were at home, asleep, when some stranger comes in your house. He has a gun point at you, and tells you to get up and walk to his truck. Now, anyone who uses a Rapier will most likely have knowledge of some sort of Martial Art, so it'd be rather easy to disarm the guy with a kick. After said disarming, you can tackle him, only to find out he has a bladw himself, and he stabs you with it...

  • @Feligatre99 god you sound dumb..trying to gleam all these fact that because he "argue aggressively" he does it to hurt people. that is completely ignorant and honestly most people learn martial arts as a meditation or an exercise

  • @St3amshuv3l Thank you sir/miss. Much appreciated. At least someone gets it.

  • @Feligatre99 I do them for neither. I am aggressively debating someone who does not understand the reasons I do them. And it seems you are the same. Don't speak to me about my reflection, when you yourself can't even see it. If you want to protect people, on a real scale, you join something like law enforcement or the fire department. That is not the ultimate goal of martial arts, especially in this day and age. I only debate, because there is good reason.

  • D'Artagnan lives!!!

  • The rapier is the most underrated sword in history because if the wielder does his part, its the most deadly. Katanas and big slashing swords are more glorified for some reason but in a duel, a rapier will always have the advantage.

  • @AmericanEuro1 I have one of these swords and I gotta say, I can't see a katana cutting my head off BEFORE I delivered a lethal thrust into someone's chest or neck. The tempo is just too fast. And it takes more energy to deliver a cut or slash than it does to thrust. Yeah, all my friends overglorify the cutting swords, just cause they think they are cewl. So I feel ya.

  • Those are unbelievable sword skills.......... ¬_¬

  • thumbs if runescape braught you here

  • @GnashingFact Thumbs down, Runescape never gets a single weapon right.

  • So.....which one of you carries the assult rifle around?

Oh, none? .......Yep, SWUT I THOUGHT.

Now go off to yer granmom's attic and play COD........ FOR I SHANK YOU. FOO.

  • 2:24 guy grabs his balls (y)

  • Wat is with the baloon

  • If it weren't for the awesome metal riffs, this would just look silly.

  • This video has been through a whole minute and no pigs have been mutilated yet!

  • seriously he has to work on his foot work

  • I gonna Rapier whole family

  • @bigdautorio It's such an obvious joke, but still hilarious XD

  • it is a main gouge not a dagger

  • @therealmccheef Same thing, different name. And it's "gauche" not gouge.

  • I wanna be Zorro too :(

  • I refuse to believe that those swords can do SO much. Screw a butcher's set.

  • Straight through denim! Damn Ive had trouble taking that down myself.

  • While that stabbing is all nice and all, I'm noticing very little of its cutting prowess.

  • They need to put a beard on that denim jacket so you know its "Bad" XD

  • the rapier was the gatling gun of the renaissance

  • To answer all the stupid questions "which from the rapier, the epee or the saber is the most efficient" : the one that you know how to handle ... A well-trained man with a knife can easily kill a saber noob ...

  • @ro1ri A well trained anything can kill any kind of noob easily.

  • Did it really intends to be escrima ?

To answer all the stupid questions "which from the rapier, the epee or the saber is the most efficient" : the one that you know how to handle ... A well-trained man with a knife can easily kill a saber noob ...

  • i think is a cool design and everything but for function?, well right now if you get mugged the guy with the gun is not going to have it in it's holster, second nowadays a gun is really fast to fire, and at 21 feet you don't really need to aim much, third you're not going to walk in the streets with a freakin rapier.

So for a 900 bucks display set you better buy one cheaper and guess what!? you can stab dead pigs with it too!

  • @grosso14 It is not for that. Buying a good quality rapier is essential for people who wish to take up traditional fencing with live swords, reenactments, and collecting. I actually got handcuffed for carrying a bokken around, so I seriously doubt I would try and take anything live out there.

  • @grosso14 Some people will spend $5000 plus on a Rolex that keeps time no better than $10 Walmart watch.

You going to elaborate on that as well?

  • @LexPhilogus It does?! Shit I wasted $4990 I coulda spent on decent balloo/pig stabbing swords. . . :(

  • @sortedevaras I really don't understand what this emphasis on the pig is. The pig closly simulates human flesh so it's a fine a demonstration on how cleanly the blade pierces. It's just an anachronistic hobby.

Some people like to target practice with assault rifles, even though the probability that they'll ever get to actually use them in a real fight is almost zero. "O wow that's a kick ass, target destroying, bottle breaking, milk jug piercing AK-47 Hurr Durr"

  • @LexPhilogus It would be alot more impressive if they used full ballistic gel molds of people to show the damage instead of pigs. Pigs are cheaper I guess. In the end its all silly because no one is EVER going to be in a situation in which they can bust out their rapier for self defense, its just a toy to hang on the wall of 15 year old boys. Buy a gun for self defense, they work rather nicely.

  • @sortedevaras This

"Some people like to target practice with assault rifles, even though the probability that they'll ever get to actually use them in a real fight is almost zero."

  • @sortedevaras "In the end its all silly because no one is EVER going to be in a situation in which they can bust out their rapier for self defense"

    That isn't the point

  • @sortedevaras In every man IS a 15 year old boy who wants to be zoro or a pirate. BUT, there are those such as myself who wish to learn old school European martial arts and thus need battle ready equipment like this.

  • @onimotoko But it doesn't really need to be "battle ready" because you're never going to go to battle with a sword

  • @ChainsawGutsFuck Wow, you just missed completely what I said. I shall repeat. FOR THOSE OF US WHO WISH TO TRAIN IN OLD EUROPEAN MARTIAL ARTS< WE NEED BATTLE READY EQUIPMENT. WHY? BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO ACTUALLY BE USING THESE THINGS. Stage performers also need a sword that is battle ready. A display model sword that will break after the first hit will not be very useful to duel with. Ever heard of fencing? I not talking about the shit they do for sport either...Is that clear enough?

  • @onimotoko Battle ready..? But you're never going to properly use them to go to battle or slice up another human being, it's all for show. Fencing isn't to kill and there aren't fencing battles, it's competition with electric "pistol-grip" swords that aren't designed to kill.

By all means collect various weapons but don't think you need to strut about being battle-ready in this day and age when someone will just shoot you in the face at 50 meters, right?

  • @ChainsawGutsFuck You obviously don't know that people still fence, with rapiers. And they don't "slice people up". They are almost entirely a thrusting weapon. But in order to parry an attack they need to be able to take repeated blows and be flexible enough not to break. What you are referring to is "sport fencing". THAT is all for show. I am interested in it as a martial art. Hint at the word ART. I don't care if someone can easily shoot me. That's not the point. I think U R just a troll.

  • @onimotoko I just don't think there's a place for "battle ready" melee weapons today. In the middle ages a civilian such as yourself would walk around with a sword for defense, or to duel over an argument.

You can get resilient weapons without them being "battle ready", maybe it's just your teminology sounding like you're going to hire yourself out to some feudal lord and kill people, I don't know.

And martial arts nowadays are pretty much exclusively for show, don't try to tell me otherwise.

  • @ChainsawGutsFuck So, you ARE a troll. Just because you don't understand what other people get out of martial arts, doesn't make them useless. I have actually never shown off to anyone BTW. I have people I practice with, and that is that. I don't ever plan on killing anybody, with martial arts or not. I do them because it is a training of the mind, body and spirit. Art and music are pretty much useless in practical terms, and yet people do them. Why do U think that is? Maybe U should try it.

  • @onimotoko No thanks ,i'll leave you to be battle ready and ready for action defending yourself while I stroll around in reality NOT fighting people, cyaz

  • @ChainsawGutsFuck L8TR trolly polly.

  • @onimotoko cya srs bznz battul-rdy kungfu pr0

  • @LexPhilogus

So I have a higher chance of getting in a fight with someone using a rapier than I do an assault rifle?

    LOGIC!

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun No, but that chance is still slim. Following your logic, you'd do better taking some self defense classes, because after all, the chance of getting in a bar fight is much greater than getting into a gun fight. Har Har Har lol, gun collectors, har har har.

See how dumb that logic is? Gun collecting isn't really any more practical than sword collecting.

It's all anachronistic, just like camping in the mountains and shitting in a hole, or hunting deer.

  • @LexPhilogus Well said.

  • its ideal for delivering a lethal thrust? is it good for sex then?

  • i can cut threw cardboard with this new knife set. its truly unique and majestic.

  • i thing sabre is better than this sword... because if your enemy is near you.. it's hard to thrust and this sword built only for thrusting ...... just my opinion

  • Trips and stabs his face when popping the balloon.

  • Now I know ill be safe from turkeys wearing denim, with my rapier.

  • I can pop a balloon with my ass...

  • The rapier is also supposed to be for quick slicing, I saw no slicing.

  • Why use a thousand dollar set to pierce a balloon when you can do it just the same with a five hundred dollar one! Hah!

  • @extragunbon No but it looks cool^^

  • Just wanted to say, what's with the balloons? Do you need a sword for that?

  • @extragunbon its showing accuracy and maneuverability.

  • @yosukaman5 I have to say that that is one of the worst ways of doing so.

  • @extragunbon Well, I think the point of the balloon popping is to show how much distance one can cover in a short amount of time. It shows the potential of covering 21 feet in two seconds which ultimately conveys a message that the sword is not bound by a set distance. So again, the distance traveled was the main focus.

  • Excellent! Now i can slay those wretched denim-jacket wearing sacks! those heathens!

  • the baloon thing? idk bout that, maybe cuz the baloon will just bounce backward? the warrior katana seemed best to me, gonna watch the throwin shovel now lol

  • Cold steel blades can pierce a baloon.

  • *POKE*

  • Suure, A gun man is going to stand there as some dude with a huge sword lunges clumsily towards him.

  • @voodazz Look up "Tueller Drill."

  • @voodazz A typical gun man would wet himself and stand frozen in terror if someone was charging at him with a sword.

  • Damn, I'm getting misty after seeing those upturned quillions.

  • Yeah, but what am I supposed to do with all this rope I have around the house?

  • What's with the running poke thing?

  • @cvl85 Its called the 21ft rule. At a distance of 21ft an averege person armed with a melee weapon can kill an average person with a holstered firearm before they can draw, disengage the safety, aim, and fire. The baloon is supposed to represent the guy with a firearm.

  • @lndrymtthw Right.. That's something new forme..Thanks.. but it's 21ft really enough?? looks like he took quite some time to travel there.

  • @cvl85 I don't really belielve that rule because it depends on the combatants because there are some people that can draw and fire faster than that and there are some people that can run fast enough for it to work. 16 feet sounds more realistic for a fight.

  • @lndrymtthw Try a Wild west gun slinger. you'll drop dead in no time.

May be with a man with a musket.. 21ft would work.

  • @lndrymtthw I hope you are not serious about that rule hahaha that video is fucking retarded xD

  • @FannyPacDaddy- lol look up the "121 foot rule"

  • @ARTONY92 hahaha I love that video xD

  • My blade is long and slim. It's also 900 bucks a go.

  • I gave your mom a few lethal thrusts last night

  • So...that guy knows that he just made an ass of himself, right? There was absolutely no proper fencing form in this fetid pile.

  • @Conviction666

He's just showing how easy it is to penetrate the rib cage of the pig carcass and torso model with a simple thrust on the first two videos... the balloon part I believe would show the sharpness of the tip as other rapiers fail to pop a simple balloon [that's my theory, lol].

  • oh god, I'm glad i'm not the only one that watched these for entertainment.

  • This shows what should be done to anything wearing a denim jacket.

  • i wish they could stab one of the demonstrators

  • that guy looked so unbelievably gay. Most pussy stabs I've ever seen

  • @Whensadmeetshappines word they should have gotten one of da big scary lookin dudes. but notice it's a rapier the other tough guys were propbably being used on another less gay sword

  • ...i can pop a balloon with a thumb tac

i must be a master swordsman!

  • @rolinTM You're missing the point of the demonstration . . . I suppose you would have said the same thing had he popped a balloon on horseback.

  • @rolinTM - You've missed the point of the test. It is to show how fast you can close to lethal distance with the sword. If the balloon was a guy with a gun, he would not have had time to draw it.

  • @rolinTM try doing it with out holding the ballon

  • @rolinTM Its showing the speed and precition not that the balloon pops, you're a retard

  • @rolinTM This should be a rage comic

  • @rolinTM Trust me, getting poked with a rapier is the equivalent of getting stabbed by a switchblade, but with a lot more power and weight behind it. And length. Can't forget length...

People had to be pretty fast with these, too.

  • I have a rapier that I actually use for rape thankyouverymuch.

  • @ foolish Treacherous Seas. no need to prove your name!

  • BUHAHHHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHHHA

  • Sometimes when I'm trying to stab a dead pig with my other two thousand dollar set of swords, I can't get the proper penetration, but now thanks to this nine hundred dollar set, those dead pigs don't stand a chance.

  • @BoTWCC Don't even get me started on those balloons. I've been lunging at those suckers for hours, it's a no go!

  • Tretcherouseeeeeees?

  • This is why rapiers put armor out of style.

  • @JustinBaker2567 That was gunpowder lol

  • I gotta get one of these for the next time i rape someone.. jk why the hell would you need one for a reason other then that?

  • nine hundred dollars for both...

  • i know it a rapier but i believe thay are made to cut as well in fact the narrator said as much so how come yall did not cut with it ???

  • The one thing this video does demonstrate is how easily and effortlessly it was to run someone through with a rapier.

And a slasher/hacker...no...it was a civilians weapon, not a weapon of war.

  • Not much of a slasher, eh?

  • @JosephNowhere

    Nope, not in the least.

  • Of course, that's relative though. Sure, it won't hack my arm off or anything, but I know if I were hit with the full force with the edge of a rapier, I'd stop what I was doing.

  • @stealthbeast

I agree. I was merely comparing it to the other kinds of swords that CS showcase.

    Like the viking sword. :)
