@jspartacus He's definitely a guitarist that knows his stuff, he's got a great knowledge of theory and is capable of playing many styles. Take a listen to his albums.
@jspartacus dude, he tunes his guitar in a C#sus chord. Of course he knows a bunch of chords and voicings. His lines are describing chords and harmonic movement as well. Best, Sandemose
Most rock guitarists hide behind ther effects .....mattias can play almost clean......every note is struck with care and passion....genius is the word that describes his playing.
Ive played guitar for 30yrs but I'll never come close to this man.
he is a great musician. but in my opinion he needs to go about his creative process much slower. his songs are great parts surrounded by mediocre parts.
THIS is the tone for an electric guitar with an orchestra! Finally. I've always been disappointed with others using their typical lead overdriven sustaining cranked marshall tone with orchestras. It doesn't fit in my opinion. IA's tone is perfect for this situation. And what playing!
@TheRealGodIsComing Yeah, just grasp the OUTCOME and REHEARSALS.. (lol). This Guy is one of our most nowadayas Swedish original muzicians.. And a guitarizt who stands in the frontline.. of discover the guitar possibility and yes, he does that in a very odd way not from a square angle, it's all just muzic, and guitar and life!! Been to the FG Camp and yes again this was an experience.. How can he do what he does?? The secret in all of us!
@explicatus I think what helps make the tapping extra clean (cuz he's already freaking clean!!) is the True Temperament frets. To the human ear, the intonation is perfect. So every note rings better, and will sound cleaner with other notes.
@TheTrevasaurusRex Yeah, that's probably it, combined with his flawless technique. I've been thinking about getting a true temperament Jem or getting a neck for my PRS due to the sustain and tone.
@explicatus They don't sell Jems with true temperament. You'd have to send them the neck and have them put a new finger board on it. If I could afford it I'd send my guitar, but tuition is a hell of a bitch!!
your contribution for the guitar competition that year was really good in my opinion. Just the right amount of humour, shred and pure awesomeness. Dragons last stand, haha =)
@TruNikkaz i'm reffering to the fact that he probably won't make too much more music and that van halen and jimmy hendrix are still on the cover of rolling stone and guitar world. people need to quit living in the past.
I think it's awesome that he uses True Temperament frets. It lends itself well to the types of sounds he makes on the guitar. He is a real innovator in a time of copiers.
@trex257 and the good thing is, he isn't insanely famous like Angus Young or anything; so hundreds of people won't end up trying to be like him. Keep freaky.
@25zeppelins EXACTLY! He is that amazing kind of talent that is very hard to imitate. A lot of people will try but they will fail miserably. He is the most unique player I have seen in a LONG time. I think it would be kind of cool if her were uberfamous, but I know he won't be because he doesn't do mainstream things. Either way, he is still amazing.
@dan2212089 I'm saying, if you read my comment, that Angus Young is a ridiculously overrated famous guitarist that is nowhere near as good as Mattias. Pretty much.
I don't think IA was even aware it was being filmed. I know he just got his first True Temperament guitar the day before so I think he was trying to get adjusted to it.
I think this is quite beutiful...I love "warming up" videos like this one. There is one with Kurt Rosenwinkel warming up that are fantastic as well. I really like IAs tone on this clip, very sensitive with great touch. Thanks for uploading...Best, Sandemose

He's primarily playing excepts from many of his "Freak Guitar" songs. I'm glad he is skipping the GnR gig, as it seems to have been bad for Ron.
