You're right Radach threw a left hand just as Rua came in with the knee, and counter shots can definitely make you lose balance... In this cause though I'd still have to say he slipped on the banner add because his momentum went up when his base leg slid forwards. If the counter left straight is what caused it, the momentum of the fall would've been backwards more than upwards. I can see the reason for your opinion though, and you could very well be right and I may be wrong. I think both
@c3n1x it dont matter because it didnt send him to the ground. So all that you just wrote about slipping and whatever is completely pointless because benji went on to dominate on the feet after the little 'slip'.
are fair possibilities. Gratz again to Radach though, it is not his fault for capitalizing on the opportunity. He still deserved to win this fight just as much as Rua... If it was the left straight that sent Rua on his ass, then all the more credit to Radach.
Watch the straight right counter Radach throws at 7:00 of the video. Rua's throwing a right knee when Radach counters with the right straight, notice it sends Rua reeling back? This is the proper physics and momentum of the straight punch, high-knee counter. Ask anyone who's competed in MMA with advertisements on the canvas and they will tell you they can be slippery. Go stand on a slip n slide and throw a powerful high knee, see how it turns out for you... remember go up on your toes [=
Perhaps they need a new way of presenting the banner ads on the canvas. One idea would be to use lighting to display them instead of stickers. I realize the ads are an essential part of financing this beautiful sport so I am not against Affliction or any other companies representing MMA. Truly I just feel like I've seen this sort of thing happen too many times in MMA and it needs to be addressed.
GREAT FIGHT, CLOSE AND HIGHLY COMPETITIVE. It truly is a shame though at at 8:17 Ninja Rua's planted foot slipped on the Afflication logo banner. If it were something like bloody from the fight, then it would have been his own fault. Unfortunately it was due to the slick surface layer of an advertisement. This has been an on going issue in MMA's canvas because of the many kicks & knees used by muay thai and kickboxing artists.
True, but often slips are due to a slippery canvas. It's not always the fighter's fault, sometimes it's unbalance yes, others it's a slippery spot on the canvas
well I use to box and if there was blood on the floor from a previous fight, it was my job not to slip on it. just saying. Its sort of a no excuses situation for the fight, because its the only way he can be.
It's possible. But sometimes it's due to an unproperly wiped canvas (sweat, water from corners) or a poor job of laying the banner ads. Either way, I'm not trying to discredit Benji Radach.
You were a boxer so I wouldn't expect you to fully understand a knee strike. Watch at 8:17 he plants his right foot which will be his base while throwing the high left knee. It clearly slips out when his momentum goes forward, and just happens to be planted on a banner add NOT BLOOD. Do you see ANY blood on the canvas at 8:17 ?????????????????
