bharta tastes more delicious if instead of steaming it in microwave, u just oil it a little bit means rub some oil on it and put it in oven and cook it. it tastes crispy.
Thanks Manjula..!! God bless you...made some bharta today..YUMMMYYY..... all the good wishes from all the Indians Abroad who struggle to cook and miss good old mums cooking..!!
I enjoy your videos! Is is possible for you to list in (written form) the ingredients @ the very beginning. Perhaps list on a word document and display so we can jot down the ingredients.
Thank you Manjula, I have made Baingan Bharta before and it was okay, but, I now see why it was just okay. The layering in of the seasoning (especially the garam masala) makes all the difference.
You videos and website are wonderful, and so helpful. When I became a vegetarian/vegan, I worried about flavors and tastes, your site shows, in clear and easy steps, how to regain the flavor, while still enjoying a compassionate and healthy meal.
I put the eggplant as instructed in the mw for 8 min, after about 5 min I heard this big explosion and saw that eggplant had exploded all over inside the microwave, leaving a big mess so it would be advisable like TooLooseLeTrek suggested to pierce the eggplant before cooking it in mw. Other than this mess, the Bharta came out pretty good, I enjoy all your dishes. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
I don't own a microwave. So I washed the eggplant and coated it with a little olive oil and broiled it for 20 min...Oh this was sooo good. I cook this every month!
Hi Aunty, I made your Baingan Bharta and it came out amazing! Even my mother and father-in-law who are Indian loved it!! Thanks for making these videos!
Your recipe and narration with video clarity is very good. The issss sound and how nicely you mix and handle things on kitchen top and cooking range is very good and very clean, Hygenic...and make people hungry..for food..
Good Luck, and post more such items..
Especially you show keen interest to cook so the food is blessed.
I like this recepie Aunty Manjula. My mommy usually cook baingan chooka to eat with paratha roti. I will tell her to cook this recepie. It will eat nice with roti. Thank you very much. Hare Krishna. You are the best cook I have ever seen.
Thank you, Auntie! This is one of my favorite dishes, so I am very happy to finally learn how to make it! One question though: I don't like to use microwave. What would you do instead? Must you bake it in the oven?
Manjula, I always enjoy watching your videos, I learn so much. As a vegetarian, it is often to hard to find tasty and healthy recipes, yours are fantastic. I have learned so much and even made a butter tofu recipe with roti. Keep up the great work!
I do not use a microwave. Will the oven do the same...soften the eggplant?

I made this, but I added one extra ingredient- garlic. I couldn't help myself. I love garlic, but I will try it again without the garlic.
Would mustard seeds or black cardamom also taste good in this recipe?
Thank you for posting!

Question: should I pierce the eggplant skin before I cook it in the microwave? I'm thinking of what a mess it would be if it blew up during cooking.
Thanks.
