It is unfortunate that Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott could not come, thus disappointing their fans here in the States. It is too bad that Sylvester's fans interpret this as Sylvester being deliberately snubbed by anyone, be it the television executives or actual Hollies. The people in charge did the best they could with what they had. I venture to guess that there is much bad blood when it comes to the Hollies, beginning when Graham left.
Gee, I guess no one could find ANY pics of Terry or Rickfors. There are plenty on you tube and they could've borrowed the many albums I have of Terry's 12 year tenure as a Hollie. Yes, the Hollies actually produced several more albums after Nash left and their biggest hits were AFTER he left. But, I don't want to confuse anyone with the facts. I know! Terry was vaporized just like Tony was at the end of the clip. Sorry, you can't erase TERRY SYLVESTER and those who tried to look very small!
The Hollies were probably the longest running Rock/Pop Groups to ever bless us with some magnificent songs by the ever best ever produced out of England..I loved there music..
Audio keeps cutting out during the rather peculiar speech by Miami Steve Van Zandt. But the Hollies are a class act and are really in the top ten 1960s groups. Shame they were overlooked for so long
@chakahfatah Because he was not the one who was planned to sing it. Allan wrote the song, sang it, and rehearsed it. He could not sing as well as he could, so another singer was asked to do it.
HAHAHA! I saw the soupy sales sign at 2:37 and lost it. God does that bring back memories. I used to watch him in the morning. He was sort of a detroit thing but he had a show for kids it it was the BEST!!! With black claw and white fang. OH GOD!!!
Can someone tell me what really happend when they performed long cool woman? I dont understan why allan didnt let sylvester sing, please I need to know!!!!
@midianholic Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia. Some of the articles are written by ignornant and arrogant people who like to promote false information. The Hollies' article had a lot of inaccuracies, and when a friend of mine tried to fix it and rewrote it with all the correct information, someone deleted it and replaced it with the same nonsense that was on it before. They even included a part that stated that Allan and Graham did not let Terry perform, which is all a lie.
Does anyone have the interview clips of Graham Nash from 1964 and Allan Clarke from the late 70s or whenever? There's a bunch of clips I'd like to see that's in the montage.
The Hollies have such a distinct harmonic sound that you know its them even if it's a song you never heard. A few years back, there was a Planters ad using an obscure Hollies song whose title slips my mind. Graham Nash has had the great forturne to be in two Hall of Fame acts that have instantly recognizable harmonies in the service of songs that are still with us.
The Hollies entry into the Hall of Fame is so well deserved.... they had so many good songs with superb harmonies and having seen Graham Nash last summer, his distinctive voice is still sounding good and has a very pleasant personality to match!
I absolutely love the first 3:30 of this clip! What an absolutely amazing band! I thought it was odd though that no video of Terry was included. After all, he was with the Hollies twice as long as Graham was. Anyhow, they've finally made it!!!
My Dear Hollies !..I will Love you all forever !!! Congrats to you on an amazing Journey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !! yeah baby !! you Made it !! at Last !!!!!!! All My Love And respect to you !! It has been way overdue ! this is what Ive been hoping and praying for .. I Love you All and thank you for all those Great songs and Great mems you have given Me thru me teen years .. you are wonderful !I will never forget you ..God Bless x hugs ..Lyndloo..
I loved that montage footage they put together....great moments for sure. There were so many...must have been hard to choose which ones to use. I'm so so happy for them! Thanks for posting this and all the Hollies footage from the RRHOF. They SO deserved this honor...every one of them.
Yes I could see that-but it was insulting to Terry to not show at least a clip or two post-Graham Nash. Terry was very much a part of the group when they had their later hits.
Thank you soooo much for posting this sapphiretaurus!! I grieved when I found out our local cable station did not carry the channel showing the RHOF inductions!! I really wish they could have all been there especially my fave Tony Hick-but I understand when you have a previous commitment you should honor it. Congrats to The Hollies!! Well done boys! And well deserved-long past due. :)
@peterdchecksfield You're welcome, Peter. I love this montage. I don't know where that "He Aint Heavy" clip came from, either. Maybe someone on here knows.
There are some great clips here, I've never seen that Allan interview clip before or that concert footage of him with a harmonica I wonder where they are from. I like it that there are some of my favourite Hollies clips featured here such as the Beat Beat Beat footage and the I Can't Let Go promo. Thanks for posting this extra bit Vrinda :)
@katdowli Thanks, Kat! I'd like to know where those clips came from, too. I liked how they included the Shindig clips where they're being introduced, and Frankie Avalon's introduction.
@sapphiretaurus and of course :30 and the 'I want you baby' moment at 1:39 ;) I wonder if anyone on here knows where those clips are from and if there is any more footage of them about. I was impressed they included songs like Pay You Back With Interest and Little Lover too.
Of all the interview snippets they could have chosen, though, they picked one that perpetuates the "Graham never plugged in" myth...I hope Nashie was able to laugh that one off!
Aw... Nashie is a good sport.... *S* So nice to see him glow with pride in his best Hollies pal, the one and only Clarkey. Besides, it's nice to see him in there twice!

In the words of Nash's colleague David Crosby, it's been a long time comin'. In the early days their sound and exuberance could not be beat.
Glad this long standing debt to Nash and his first band has been paid.
