  • This is such a gorgeous snake, I've always wanted to get one.

  • I can watch any other animal get eaten but I couldnt watch this lol

  • very cool but i kinda felt bad for the gecko. R they bred for feeding?

  • thats the only snake with good vision :-)

  • dot. com

  • wow nice snake ! i actually seen this type of snake on generalexotics.

  • i used to want a house gecko but you are FEEDING THEM?

  • these are cool, i might get one couple years from now, i like to do a lot of research before getting certain reptiles... any tips? like on handling, housing, etc?

  • @edjorthebeast They need a lot of humidity or they have shed issues, they dont drink from a bowl & onnly drink water droplets when misted or using a dripper. They eat 2-4 lizards a week. Pretty docile, they would run before trying to bite & tame easy with gentle handling. They are however, mildly venomous & care should be taken to avoid being bitten in case you would be sensitive to it. They are aboreal so they need tall cages & lots of branches & vines/plants.

  • This is wild! I've seen photos of these and always thought the checkered ones were prettier than the solid green ones. I had no idea they could change colors and are the same snake! That's so neat! Thanks for teaching me something today.

  • Poor little house gecko :(

I understand its nature and stuff, but i just have a soft spot for geckos xD

  • they are so awsome!

  • can you hold the vine snake

  • @julian5614life Yes, she is nice. I wouldnt try holding one if youre allergic to bees or other bug bites. Vine snakes have mild venom that does not kill normal ppl but if you have allergy maybe it could? Idk.

  • where did you get your vine snake?

  • @herpguy101 From a petstore in colorado called scales n tails.

  • @TheReptileWhisperer lucky! lol, mine sadly passed away she was 6 and 1/2 foot! You can see the vids on my channel of her :)

  • @herpguy101 Aww sorry for your loss:( originally I bought her & a male but the male had mouth rot. They were fresh wc & both had to be wormed. The male wouldnt eat even though I treated his mouth best I could. Couldnt force feed him, it was hard enough giving medicine. He died two weeks later. This female though became a great eater & adapted well to captivity. Ive had her about a year & a half.

  • @TheReptileWhisperer wow! thats awesome! shes so pretty! no rubs or scars :)

  • Kinda hard to watch considering I have crested geckos, but a very beautiful snake and I wouldnt want it to go hungry :)

  • they are not really changing color, the scales under the scales you would normally see are being exposed. and yes they are captive bred i bought mine at a reptile show. the lizards are 1 $ online. your a great keeper, try not to wild catch any snakes, they do much better when they are captive bred.

  • @XboxJunkiiie Thanks, where do you find the lizards for $!? The cheapest I find is around five bucks which is expensive when you feed two to four a week.

  • @TheReptileWhisperer no problem. i would have to link you to the website, i get them from the guy who sold me my vine. i breed crickets so i dont have a problem with that.

  • @XboxJunkiiie Can you send a link in a pm? Wish I could get her on mice but I dont have the time. Plus im nervous cause I heard you have to tie a mouse to the lizard? What about the string, im nervous it will hurt het. Maybe you know a better way?

  • @TheReptileWhisperer i got mine as a hatchling and i have not gotten that far so i haven't done the research. see if you can get pre-killed lizards and get the scent of them onto a pre-killed mouse, if that doesn't work i would stick to lizards. vines are not constrictors it is pretty easy for a live mouse to hurt it. i was wondering if you have a misting system or if you do it manually ? If you do it manually how often and if you have a misting system which one ? thank you.

  • @XboxJunkiiie First I keep my reptile room at 50-60% humidity using a room humidifier. Everytime I spray all the cages in the room the humidity goes up even higher. This is why I can keep this snake in a screen cage & not have shed issues etc. I manually spray her twice a day very well. Usually she drinks as I spray & has never used a waterbowl. If your room isnt humid I would keep the snake in a glass/plastic/wood cage to keep in humidity. Btw I have tried habbamister but it sucks.

  • @XboxJunkiiie i keep mine in a 20 gallon tall with plants running all over the cage and i keep the humidity around 80 % and 90 % when shedding. she/he has no problem shedding very underrated snakes, if i get the time i will be breeding them and building a reptile room. i MIGHT have a website up in a year or so if i can convince my parents to let me breed reptiles under there roof.

  • Thanks for the vid! I've kept snakes over the years, and when I got my ball years back saw the asian vine snake... I've always been intrigued by them.

When I started watching this vid, I was going to ask you about the strike accuracy thing. The manager at the reptile shop I buy my stuff in town said that as well, when we were talking about them.

    She's a beauty :)

  • Thanks for this video! It was very informative

  • Looking at the comments it amazes me how people can be sometimes. yes sucks for the gecko, but how is mice rats and rabbits dieing any better? The vine snake eating it no different than any other snake eating a rodent.Except maybe a rat is about as smart as certain dogs. You guys can be such hypocrites sometimes, especially if you own snakes that eat rodents.Anyways awesome video,I thought of getting a vine once, but there care is very complex and getting feeder lizards and caring for them is hard.

  • @CrestedBoa the care is pretty easy, they are very underrated snakes. as for the lizards you can order them or breed them.

  • Beautiful Snake !

  • She's sooo pretty!

  • heeeeeeeeh sweeeeeet, {LOVE SNAKES!]

  • @deadmooze

It was a suggestion, and if the primary exhibitors of reptiles in the country have figured out a way to do it safely, then I say that it's something worth looking into. no need to be hostile, especially over a subject which can be debated.

  • I cant belive that we can actually keep these in captivity, it realy blows my mind that people can take any snake (or any animal for that matter) and basically domesticate it, you realy have done a great job with all of your reptiles and im glad that I have the chance to see this gorgeouse snake in action.

  • @thereptilewhisperer

I believe that most zoos that display these snakes feed them goldfish. Apparently they are very adept and very willing to catch them in 2 inches of water or less. That could save you a fortune! Look up "behind the scenes vine snake" on YouTube for an example.

  • @Ihopyourpancakes Goldfish are a horrible choice of prey for ANY animal. Do some research.

  • Poor gecko but you have to do what you have to do for your pets lol do your daughters not like that this snake feeds on geckos?

  • i love your videos! and i was wondering what typ eof gecko that is, well... was?

  • Its funny how people have no remorse feeding live mamals yet they do for this gecko.Yes I feel bad,I am a reptile lover, yet I know about the Asian vine snake and what they eat.People, grow up and educate yourselves before harassing this woman.I've been watching her for a long time and she is an amazing and knowledgable keeper. She's not feeding this gecko for entertainment ,it is what they eat even in captivity.Sad if your a reptile lover like me but I'd do the same if I kept one.Not a choice.

  • @TheeLifeOfBob Thank you:)

  • Ok I see a lot of negative and uneducated feed back from this video from people who obviously dont know the Aisan vine snake.Asian vines are specialized lizard and amphibian eaters. It sucks but,if you want to have one you need to feed house geckos or anoles(both are also sold as feeders)Some have been known to except small mice if you start scenting them with lizards from a young age,but thats not their natural diet and they dont normaly take them and as she stated its very difficult to do so.

  • Unsubbed , unecessary suffering there , goodbye you bitch.

  • @mrpoop608 Seriously? Good riddence then! Would you have me starve my snake to death? Starvation would be unecessary suffering!!!

  • @TheReptileWhisperer house geckos are sold as pets.

  • Honestly, this is nature. This women does take in abused and neglected reptiles, but it's just like feeding your turtle or fish feeder fish. Same concept, are you going to yell at the lions for eating the zebras? If they didn't eat them the lions would die.

  • guys seriously its no diff then a mouse and even if i dont agree with live its nbd it could be worse like some1 feeding a crestie to a pacman frog ive seen a vid of that and it makes thins look like nothing

  • i dont like that it is live but it is still just a feeder gecko u should stun it be for you feed it to ur snake dont u think ?

  • its a pity, i thought you was a careing compasionate person, and liked the fact you did reptile rescue work, but his is just nasty, guess you dont like geckos much.

  • @FunWithFungus666 I like geckos but I also like this snake. I love ALL reptiles. I don't particularly like feeding it geckos but I have no choice or it will starve to death. It's the cycle of life and no different than feeding insects, rodents, fish, etc. BTW, the gecko is a feeder gecko, not anyone's pet.

  • i think this video sucks, its not cool, yer in the wild these snakes eat lizards, but if they need to eat live lizards, then maybe you shouldnt have it in captivity, seeing that gecko die like that, with no chance of escape was very upseting, at least in the wild the gecko would have had a chance, you make me sick, shame on you!!!!!!!!!!

  • @FunWithFungus666 I got your msg and replied. Just remember it is the food chain. Just because this snake eats lizards, it's not a bad pet to have.Almost all reptiles are predators, they just have different prey. To love a reptile is to respect what it eats whether you like it or not.I don't "like" feeding the gecko but I have no choice. This video is to educate ppl about these snakes. In the future it would be wise to read the title before watching so you don't watch something that upsets you

  • That is so cool!

  • Is that a house gecko?

  • @bandman232 Yes

  • great video!now i want one lol my girlfriend will go mad

  • Great video! Even though I love lizards a bit more than snakes I understand they need to eat what's best for them to survive and enjoyed watching the way they hunt and use their venom to disable their prey. Don't pay any mind to the people who are angry at you for feeding the gecko to the snake because you were doing what's best for the snake. People just need to learn that it's just how it is for this particular snake.

  • @civicgrl88 Thanks:) I find them fascinating! It's actually my daughter's pet, as I am more into lizards too. Yeah, I don't particulary like feeding it geckos but it's unavoidable. People are pissed at the snake, people are pissed at me, I don't understand it to be honest. It's the cycle of life, plus I'm not going to starve the snake nor dislike it because of what it eats. It's awesome reguardless:)

  • This snake would be perfect here in Southwestern Florida. Theres plenty of Anoles and House GEckos. Would not be hard to breed WC Anoles and House Geckos for food.

  • is that a gecko that you hatched out ?

    or just bought?

  • @cowboys9455 It's a feeder gecko (house gecko). It isn't pet quality so the place I buy them from sells them as feeders for animals that only eat lizards, like this snake.

  • Sorry but I found this really upsetting to watch, I love snakes but to see that little gecko get killed was kinda bad...

  • @gecko1562 Why is it any different than feeding a snake, a mouse or rat? There is no difference. I like geckos and I like snakes. I LOVE all reptiles in general. The gecko in the video is a feeder gecko(just like a feeder rodent), NOT a pet. These are not pet quality so they are sold as feeders for reptiles that only eat lizards, like this snake.

  • Have you ever been bitten? I know theyre rear fang venomous, But I was wondering how much reactions varry.

  • @HiImSteveDuh No, she is very docile. She has never even put on a threat display. I read that reactions vary from swelling, soreness, redness, headache and nausea. It can last for a few days to a week. Nothing more severe has ever been reported as far as I know. Still, if you are allergic to insect bites, I wouldn't own one incase you would be allergic to the venom too.

  • People people research research Asian Vine Snakes eat lizards not mice. I have heard of them being converted to mice but in the wild they eat lizards. Nice video and beautiful snake.

  • @reptile411 Thank you:)

  • damn that strike was insane...

  • eh... rather feed the snake to the gecko...

  • Awww, the gecko was cute though :(

But whatever, the snake is more important...

  • @TheTurtlelover09 why not feed it a pinky ? lol

  • @CorbinDCreptiles cus they dont eat rodents.....

  • @CorbinDCreptiles They only eat lizards and frogs in nature. Lizards (house geckos & anoles) are sold as feeders when they aren't pet quality. I've never seen a feeder frog so I feed it lizards.

  • @TheTurtlelover09 Hopefully you're joking

  • @ebolaoutkast me ? snakes arent my thing, and i know alot about the commonly kept snakes and nothing about less kept snakes, especially asian snakes

now, by the video i can assume that they dont but why not feed it an anole which are more avalible and are actually feeders ?

  • @CorbinDCreptiles I replied to the person who said "the snake is more important". All animals are of equal importance. Anyone upset about this animal not being a lowly pinky is a screwed up hypocrite. In other news, anyone interested in the look of this snake but prefers to feed non-live food should look up the Baron's racer.

  • @ebolaoutkast oh ok, i was saying, at least feed it an animal that is used as a feeder

  • @CorbinDCreptiles These geckos are feeder geckos the same as feeder anoles. These are geckos that are NOT pet quality so they are sold as feeders for animals that only eat lizards, like this snake.

  • @CorbinDCreptiles These geckos are feeder geckos the same as feeder anoles. These are geckos that are NOT pet quality so they are sold as feeders for animals that only eat lizards.

  • THAT WAS FREAK N SWEET I WANT ONE

  • How many geckos would a vine snake a week? I have being wanting to get for for a long while now and really need to get price ranges set before I get one.

Also would a 60W bulb be good?

  • @1992pattrow 2-4 lizards a week. You can buy feeder geckos & anoles in bulk on lllreptile. com otherwise it gets really expensive feeding these snakes. Plus if you buy bulk you can feed & supplement the geckos really well before feeding and know they will be a good food source for the snake. 60 W is fine for heat.

  • @TheReptileWhisperer

Thanks. I love lllreptile. That is where I buy all my reptile supplys. 2-4 is not so bad.

  • @1992pattrow I buy all my feeders there except Hornworms & Silkworms. They have great prices on bulk insects too. I buy 1000 crickets every week lol! If I didn't I'd be broke.

  • @TheReptileWhisperer

    I buy 2000 a month right now.

  • what kind of gecko was it?

  • @Aaron1211

    House Gecko

  • @Aaron1211 A feeder gecko (house gecko)

  • would it eat a small mouse

  • @geckokid94 In the wild they only eat lizards and frogs. In captivity it's really, really hard to get them to switch to mice. Most vine snakes won't switch over at all so they need lizards to eat or they will die.

  • very cool but im sad for gecko. Oh well, everything's got to eat!
