  • TERRIBLE ! ! !

  • SUCH. A. BEAUTY.

  • Sounds just like Robbie Williams' 'Millennium' :P

  • @bluemonkeyball67 omgggg, are you tonedeaf? how can you even say that?!

  • @bluemonkeyball67 fuck youu.(;

  • Björk's cover shits on this..

  • @stfukyleee and youre just the most amazing musician/vocalist there is :).........PRICK!!!

  • @stfukyleee does it ever!!!

  • disregarding the relative comparison to the original, this is a great song.

  • This sucks royally!!

  • @bluemonkeyball67 wel lets see you do better then

  • In fact, the guys wanted "spies" to be the theme of a 007's movie "The world is not enough" but it didn't make it :/

  • moving us to mars

  • The original is one hundred and fifty-eight times better than this, although I must admit they recapture the emotion of the riff quite well. Chris Martin needs to sober up or give Johnny Fontane's doctor a call...

  • I did not know Coldplay did this

  • man this is way better the live version

  • The name is Bond.

  • @Brahmabas James Bond lmao

  • It's a dismal remake of Nancy Sinatra's classic. I wish I'd never heard it. The guitar is good though.

  • this a real song of coldplay or is a cover?? somebody else there who can answer that????

    coz the title sounds familiar???

  • @alfredinch It is the title track from the 1967 James Bond film "You Only Live Twice.", but the original song was sampled by Robbie Williams for "Millenium"

  • @alfredinch Actually I'm hearing a live version right now where Chris Martin specifically says: we wrote this for Robbie Williams...:/

  • the song itself if good overall, but i think that Chris could have done a better job in the beginning :\ However, the vocals were pretty good from 1:57 and on :3

  • waaaah the internet i can complain hear my voice i'm a real person waaaah

    klol

  • Even though I'm 29 now, I'm obsessed with watching older movies [1930s-1970s]. When I heard this song in 2004, I had never heard the original, because I just happened to have never seen the movie. I've loved this song for years and actually never knew it was a cover until just today! lol This version resonated with me on an emotional level at the time and the words in the song were exactly how I felt. I guess my bias is obvious, but I don't like the original at all, but I love this version!

  • I love this song. First Colplay version I heard was an encore performance at a show, kind of sounds like this one was also. The live version I heard before was much more energetic, I absolutely love it, the guitar sounds are awesome. That's the thing with live performances, they can be hit and miss. This one is not so great, but that doesn't mean Coldplay shouldn't perform this song, when they get it right they really take it to another dimension than the original, which is still best

  • Nothing against Coldplay - but they've completely lost it with this rendition of a great song. They can't even be bothered to sing the right words. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! Totally unbearable to listen to.

  • Not a good song for Chris Martin to be singing.

    Good singer normally though.

  • musical arrangement is ok, but vocals are absolutely terrible

  • The music is pretty good, but the vocals are just not there.

  • @VINAYBAR: And this comes from a Coldplay fan

  • Comment removed

  • this version is dire

  • 33 people have no taste in music.

  • Somebody put this guy out of his misery! Please!

  • This band sux. In spades.

  • Guitar's epic!

  • @fernandopox dude it is a crime to say her name in coldplay videos so go fuck urself

  • this piece of music was so beautifully done by john barry, i think it will be an immortal piece of music, no matter who sings it...

  • Big Bond fan I can't belive I just found this now.

  • Nancy Sinatra sounds, and robbie willia take sound too ... NIce Colplay

  • Interesting....

  • this sounds nice to me...

  • Coldplay should do the next opening for a Bond film,( if there's going to be any more that is)

  • I LUV COLDPLAY AND BOND!!! They've done a great cover of YOLT; but, Chris' vocals SUCKED...WTF...singing off key and making-up his own lyrics! He sounds like he's hangover. Very disappointing performance from one of my fav singer/songwriters. Nancy Sinatra did a great job in her day...I'd love to hear her sing this piece with Coldplay...it'd be epic!

  • SuuPeerR....

    =)

  • utter beauty :)

  • Wait...people actually like the Nancy Sinatra version? That song was an utter smattering of crap. The catchy loop didn't fit with the rest of the song.

  • @PWalker1981 Most Cd releases of Nancy Sinatra sing YOLT sound flat and slightly off-key. However, listen to the song accompanying the main titles on blu-ray, (or digitally remastered DVD) and the song takes on a whole new identity. Completely different from previous renditions. Her voice takes on the sound of a scare vulnerable "little girl lost" in these version.

As for Coldplays rendition - get real people, IT SUCKS!

  • Wait...people actually like the Nancy Sinatra version? That song was an utter smattering of crap.

  • @PWalker1981 Nah, it had the John Barry touch. Stunning orchestration. This has absolutely nothing going for it. Chris Martin sounds stoned out of his skull.

  • @RogueRotting360

Yeah he sounds quiet stoned because this song really caught him crazy ...

once in an interview he said that he really gets crazy 'bout this song so that they had to do an own salutation to it even thought if it doesn't quiet fit ...

Anyway I love the sick cat yawning ... sorry ... I love chris singing :-P

    COLDPLAY!!!!!!

  • I don't get what people are complaining about. I think this is a really cool modern take of it. The guitar is so cool. Plus no shit it sounds flat, he's not a fucking woman, he's singing it low instead of high. Chris Martin is actually a very talented singer so you all can go to hell!

  • @TyMan1229 Here's what people are complaining about: it's Coldplay, and they are the officially designated worst band around by the hivemind.

  • @Applemask Yeah I hear ya

  • @TyMan1229 just as good as john lennon was or not better

  • @TyMan1229 yeah, the guitar!!!

  • I barely recognizes the original song into this crap

  • this is cool, I first heard the melody in the robbie williams millennium, then found out where it was original from.

  • I'd like to hear Nancy Sinatra singing this instead of who ever the lead singer of coldplay is, because I love the instrumentals, especially the guitar.

  • @RBkidd510 his name is chris martin:)

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song XD Original is by Nancy Sinatra

  • actully this sounds bad ass so you can all just go to hell

  • This is fucking horrible horrible horrible. This is a chick song! His depressing pussy man voice is ruining the soft beauty of the way this song should be performed.

  • chris martin is flat and this version is amazingly aweful.

  • Of all the covers of "You only live twice" (A 1967 James Bond movie for all you hordes of ignorant fools on the net), this one veers too far from the original that is sounds totally "alien".

  • Um.....sorry, I' ll take Nancy Sinatra over this any day....now please....shut up!

  • do-do-dee-do-do-dee-do-do-dee-do <3

    do-doodle-do-doodle-do-doodle-do <3 <3 :D

  • I don't mind the music but please, that vocal is bloody awful.

  • I'm sure this was released in the Don't Panic single.

  • @lQwertical Should have named in 'Don't vomit'...vocals are bloody awful! Guitar work is the only nice piece here. The original John Barry/Nancy Sinatra version is epic compared to this.

    B.

  • @TheBelaire they should rot in hell for doing this song injustice.

  • I LOVE coldplay, but.... To me... This isn't one of they're greatest songs. (just in comparison to Coldplay. Compared to many other artists this is the BEST song ever!) love you coldplay!!!

  • I think this song is way better than the original bond theme song

  • @MaJoNeY522 Seriously? They both have their good points but John Barrys instrumental version is flawless. Nancy Sintara is camptastically bad and as usual Coldplay does a fine job with horrible vocals, but I still love them!

  • @MaJoNeY522 No..this is a disgrace to John Barry.

  • MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER COLDPLAY !!!!

  • @loqutor

    kidding, right?

  • @AkisColdplay No.

  • I love how...so much of the song sounds very Parachutes-esque, but the end...oh, my gosh. Wow. The guitar. It was just so uncharacteristic and surprising. It renewed my love for Coldplay <3

  • The sound of this song by Cold play is more intence and misterius then the original. I love Cold Play.

  • @walmar50 intense

  • Greatness!

  • aahhh... LOVE IT! :D

  • the guitar is brill the singing fooking sucks.

  • the beginning and that background giutar part thruout sounds a bit like shiver... or one of their other songas, cant remember, but ya!!

  • Totally awesome!

  • is it just me or in this picture does guy berryman look like david archuleta from american idol? not poking fun at him, i love guy berryman <3 just saying he looks a TON like him lol :)

great great song you played here Coldplay <3

  • does this got something to do with thatcrap called millenium from robbie williams?? btw this is lovely :D

  • You Rigth.... theQuestion is. who be first?

  • @zutton79 seriously? it's from a bond movie. why'd you listen to it if you dont like it?

  • not bad, but I prefer the original song

  • @rodrigoarriaga hey whats the original song?

  • @rodrigoarriaga naaa COLDPLAY IS A LOT BETTER

  • I must say that It's not bad ;] But of caurse no one will be better then Nancy , even if they saying that Robbie Wiliams was .

  • I got it on vinyl.. Or single or whatever, as a b-side for Don't Panic. :)

  • is this on one of their albums? which one?

  • no its a cover

  • so they just sang it impromptu @ the concert? hmm

  • no i guess they liked it and decided to learn it and play it

covers arent just spur of the moment

  • UTTERSHITE !!!

  • Awful.. Give me nancy Sinatra....

  • Instrumental only version is amazing, may just be my all time favourite song

  • /watch?v=40Eflz8ebYE

  • it's none of our business what he's suited to most. He enjoys singing so he sings. Every artist uses another singers material at one stage in their career.

  • I don't really quite understand what all the abusive comments are for. Please I think people need to mature a bit, if you don't like a song at least respect it. It's a brilliant mind.

  • what? it's not like he wrote it. further, why should anyone respect a song if they think it's sung badly, or not as good as the source? Yeah, Chris is great, but this just goes to show that he's better suited at writing songs and music himself.

  • Fucking terrible.

  • Man, its like you walking drunk home after seeing this movie, terrible

  • i like this, lets be honest, its better than millenium by robbie williams.

  • wtf? Robbie Williams version was not a cover :/

  • wouldnt u be the hater in this situation?

  • Hmm a little, but not normal usually hater :)

  • A certain "The Doors" flavor. I like it.

  • Im not giving up

  • amazing! i love the guitar in here

  • its clearly a cover idiot. same words duh!

  • Apparently you suffer from an irony deficiency. Thank you for stopping by, come back soon! ;)

  • Thanks so much, and bye now!! :)

  • satriani copied cat stevens!

  • Chris is amazing. You're just jealous!!

  • ''And one dream appears and love is it's name.''

GENIUS ! Even if Chris Martin didn't wrote those lyrics ;)

I LOVE COLDPLAY; BEST BAND NOWADAYS :))

  • do want mp3

  • brilliant!

  • i hav listened it before on 007 film...

    hahaha

  • what a guitar sound

  • what a band!

  • maybe he just wanted to change it up a bit.

  • or you can go fuckyourself

  • sound is badass, i dont like how chris is singing it but it does however give the song a more dark and lone hero kind of feel

  • WTF!?!

  • your a lowlife.

  • Jonny on guitar is awesome in this one.

  • I could see this being on a James Bond soundtrack but only the chorus parts

  • This IS a James Bond song, originally sung by Nancy Sinatra. It's from the movie titled....wait for it....."You Only Live Twice." I'm watching the movie right now. Crazy coincidence that I saw this song on YouTube front page.

Also, to the poster of this vid, the song is not BY Coldplay. It is a cover.

  • Ha ha I should have known that, I love James Bond. I have only seen the Pierce Brosnan movies though and a couple of the new guy's

  • I think we all allready knew that this is a cover ;)

  • this is awesome. brings me back earlier this decade. it's a nightmare to find on mp3 tho. legally, that it.

  • sounds fucking fantastic...

  • guys calm down... they played this as a live song, i think it sounds amazing

  • wow i can really imagine this as a James bond theme> *cough cough VIVA COLDPLAY cough*

  • Wow great my favorite part is the beggining and middle.GREAT

  • so cool do it more

  • Damn this sounds terrific!!

    Viva la coldplay for sure!

  • Sorry to disappoint but, this is my third time living.

  • this rocks !!

  • You suck..............suck your own balls

  • Yeah. That's mature.

  • No he is right you probably should. Go along now.

  • Probably should what? We're waiting for your witty response.

  • lead guitar- huge respect for Johny! he's my master:)

  • The melody he's singing is WAY different from the original (although the chord progression is the same). It's almost like he's singing a harmony part for much of the song, instead of the main melody. However, the lead guitar is excellent and sounds a lot better than the orchestra/guitar in the 1967 original. I never would have thought of a modern=day rock band doing this song as a cover. Coldplay did it very well, even if Chris did change the melody somewhat.

  • i love james bond and i love coldplay what more could u ask 4?

  • what the hack dose james bond have to do with coldplay?

  • because the song was originally written for James Bond you stupid cunt

  • who is stupid me i just asked for god sake dont be sucha kid

  • lyrics are ace

  • i know. its not officially released all i was saying was that the title of the video doesnt say unreleased. lol
