It wouldn't have been feasible for Pete to send a couple of packets of rice to Japan -- lots of aid, including food and money, is already being distributed there, so a couple of packets of rice would have an incredibly, incredibly small difference. This video, however, is increasing awareness of the Japanese' plight, thereby resulting in more donations/aid from people.
