  • rubbish. swinging/cheating reps helps, if you do it the right way

  • @desmcc01 i'd rather not act macho and use a weight i can lift properly

  • @SuperLalalas nah, you should go as heavy as you can without cheating too much, you should not be able to do the last 2 or 3 properly so the cheating should be allowed then

  • @MrAnswer2Q "as heavy as you can". then why would cheating be necessary

  • what differences is there if i use dumbbells instead of a bar??

  • @blade83336 using dunbells will help to even out muscle becuase you are lifting the same weight with side of your body, if you use a barbell you could be using 1 side of your a bit more to lift the bar

  • should i do this on back day or shoulder???

  • @emericaordie15

    shoulder.

  • @leafsyo11 decided back cause it's trapsss

  • @iplayc0d yeah my wrists hurt a bit, too (especially my right wrist), but my grip was much wider than the guy in the video.

  • SOMEONE WHO DOES THEM RIGHT! Wow.

  • Does this hurt anyone else's wrists after a few reps?

  • @iplayc0d use an ez curl bar that takes the pressure off wrists and elbow, it's the best for this exercise.

  • this guy have some bugs sometimes when he speak lmao :p

  • Why does the other upright row video have more views than this one?

  • Great way to badly damage the shoulders.

  • what if I increase the size of the grip...what effect would that have?

  • Thanks for this helpful video.

  • ...and this move is better using dumbbells. Using barbell is hard on the shoulders.

  • @bambarby

Not nessesarily. It depends on your shoulder flexibility. It's partly also just a matter of getting comfortable with the motion. I'm using an easy bar when doing the upright rows, I feel zero stress on the shoulders, so you're wrong.

  • your not rocking because your using no weight you daft twat..

  • 0:07 purely because i love the way americans say the word 'row' :D

  • @4800Michael thats southern american.. wisconsin we dont talk like that

  • @4800Michael wat? how else do you say row?

  • @4800Michael how do u say it?

  • @4800Michael I think we can say the same about British Mexican Chinese and every other nationality.

  • @4800Michael How the hell else could you say it?

  • @4800Michael rooow lol

  • Thanks for the instruction.

  • That movement is very bad for the shoulders. Ask a doctor or physical therapist...

  • @Citizen6935 Ask Arnold Schwarzenneger he did heaps of them. Any exercise performed incorrectly has the potential for damage and injury.

  • @Citizen6935

    Please explain how its bad.

  • @prettyboyfloydish No shit sherlock.

  • 'Notice im not slinging the weights up'

I don't see any weights in this video xD

  • @pray4somesense Barbell is 45lbs. Idiot.

  • @QuicksilverdotFX ...Like I said, where's the weight...

  • This exercise put allot of unnecessary strain on the shoulders.

Pluss, its not effective at all, targeting the traps.

    Good form though.

  • @Tisto20 - i find this exercise hurts my wrists

  • @bizarrebob experiment with different grip width

  • @bizarrebob Try the EZ curl bar close grip that should be better on your wrists

  • @BrandonTboxer10 - thanks Brandon, ill give that a go

  • This video explains pretty well the upright barbell row. However, you can also put your hands shoulder-width apart instead of the 6-8inches to get the best workout.

  • this exercise pinches my nerves in my shoulder, not a fan

  • Should i do this exercise on back day or shoulder day?

  • The tempo of the way he is doing the exercise is GREAT!....if you want to go to sleep! lol!

    Power! Power! Power!

    PEACE

  • "......after you complete the set, inject a large dose of roids up your bumhole"

  • i find this works my shoulder rather than my traps

  • hear what he says @ 0.49

  • @gooderson1 arent u suppose to use weights

  • @lokrenzo No, because of the strain it puts on your shoulders you could seriously injure yourself if you're lifting more than 20lb.s.

  • @Anarchyffan BS I upright row with 110 lbs without any problems at all. Perhaps YOU might injure yourself with more than 20lbs, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with the exercise if performed properly.

  • Great! thank you!

  • Are upright rows safe, I've been doing them for years but lately have read that they are unsafe and can really damage your shoulders - is this just bullshit?
