@SuperLalalas nah, you should go as heavy as you can without cheating too much, you should not be able to do the last 2 or 3 properly so the cheating should be allowed then
@blade83336 using dunbells will help to even out muscle becuase you are lifting the same weight with side of your body, if you use a barbell you could be using 1 side of your a bit more to lift the bar
Not nessesarily. It depends on your shoulder flexibility. It's partly also just a matter of getting comfortable with the motion. I'm using an easy bar when doing the upright rows, I feel zero stress on the shoulders, so you're wrong.
This video explains pretty well the upright barbell row. However, you can also put your hands shoulder-width apart instead of the 6-8inches to get the best workout.

@Anarchyffan BS I upright row with 110 lbs without any problems at all. Perhaps YOU might injure yourself with more than 20lbs, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with the exercise if performed properly.
Are upright rows safe, I've been doing them for years but lately have read that they are unsafe and can really damage your shoulders - is this just bullshit?
rubbish. swinging/cheating reps helps, if you do it the right way

@desmcc01 i'd rather not act macho and use a weight i can lift properly

iplayc0d 3 months ago
@iplayc0d use an ez curl bar that takes the pressure off wrists and elbow, it's the best for this exercise.

That movement is very bad for the shoulders. Ask a doctor or physical therapist...

This exercise put allot of unnecessary strain on the shoulders.
Pluss, its not effective at all, targeting the traps.
Good form though.
