I've read a recipe in PYROTECHNICA-1 from Texas about a formula using Barium nitrate to produce white flame or white stars. This publication was available over 20 years ago. I have produced some of it an yes, there was a white flame when I sent it off in a rocket and the 2nd stage did its job.

Why not? It's not that hard.. Just add a little dextrin or any other binder, and cut/roll/pump it into small chunks.

There nothing wrong with mixing nitrate with chlorate, the only thing it can be mix with it is ammonium salts and any sulphur bases compound.

Not all nitrates and chlorates give off the same reaction as Potassium and sodium salts, they differ chemically to what Ionic compound it is.
