please educate me on the harm that can be caused by an architectural design. if the architect is/was a member of the masonic lodge what harm does it do the country?

if you said rulers and others were behind that specific design i will understand the concern.

It seems to me you agreed that the design represents Masonic symbols therefore we can discuss the harm.

1. Economical harm: corporations have responsibilities (Example: ethical responsibilities) towards their stakeholders which include the local communities, consumers among others.

In the case of multinational corporations, they are meant to take into consideration the social and political factors of the country they want to invest in to succeed.

So people may boycott the corporation if they believe or think they were offended in any way by that corporation. (Think about the Algerian society)

Therefore if Sheraton hotel as a business and a foreign investment in Algeria will fail it may send a negative signal to other investors of the same nature of business which will impact badly on attracting other investors of other business activities. And you can evaluate the scale of the damage to the Algerian economy.

2. Political Harm: As we all know the political situation in Algeria which is still suffering from terrorist attacks (think about the nature of the terrorism in Algeria), as a business you dont need to provoke any negative emotions which may lead to bad reactions.

Especially as a Hotel, where a lot of tourists and foreign executives stay (I let you imagine the rest). Also think about who accepted the design (I dont think he cared enough about the implications of such decision).

The social harm: As architect your inspiration should come from the environment (geographical, social, historical ) where your building is going to be, as the architectural style refers to those aspects (find out about the architectural style) and shouldnt come solely from your own cultural or moral belonging.

Having said that; however the perception of the freemasonry is not a positive one in the Algerian (Culture), so you can make the connection.

I personally do not see any harm but eventually you would need very smart individuals to sanitize architects plans.

The illustration of masonic symbols on the US Dollar bill is more evident.

If you agree that it represents a masonic symbol or symbols then the harm is far more than you can imagine unless ofcourse you don't know or don't care.
