The Alert feature does work! You need to set the radio to Dynamo, Battery, or ac power and you need to set the weather band selector to the strongest signal you can find. Then you set the switch to alert. When the National Weather Service (or Environment Canada) issues a watch or warning, the SAME codes and the 1050Hz tone is sent out. When the radio receives that tone, it makes a high/low warbling sound for a few seconds, then it switches to the audio broadcast at the volume you set.

The SAME technology is not included on this model only on the more expensive versions.
