This worked fantastically! I was getting less than 1/4 cup of dingy, light brown coffee water. I never noticed how corroded the impeller hole was, or the hole itself really! I added a small amount of white vinegar to the hole, used an Oral-B Braun toothbrush, brushed it thoroughly, then rinsed the vinegar out of the hole. I also used a paper clip to unclog the 3 needle pocket holes, as seen in zaxtor99's video. It works just like new! Thank you so much!!! No more falling asleep in class for me!
Did you descale it as well? If you regularly descale, it will clean the whole system. All you do is fill the reservoir with vinegar, run it until the fill light comes on. Empty excess vinegar and then do the same with water before using for coffee. Same applies to anything that you continually use water with (shower heads, sink faucets, coffee pots, etc.). The frequency in which you need to descale depends both on hardness of your water and frequency of use. Hope this helps.
dude that was great i was fuckin around with the thing 4 like 2days and i complety looked over the impeller for the water u solved the problem quick and easy wish there were more vids like this on utube

You’re awesome!!! Hard water deposits just like on a shower head calcify and form up on the impeller intake just as you explained. I know this all too well because I have kept aquariums and this happens on the impeller section of pumps on RENA and FLUVAL. Same concept applies. People pay a lot of money for this machine and are irritated by this common problem that you’ve shown how to solve so easily. Kudos!
You so freaking rock! I called customer service who wanted to send me a new water reservoir. I had just brewed a cup of tea prior to the breakdown. Thank you so, so much! = )
This really works! Thanks so much! Had the same thing to happen to me on my first B40 and took it back to the store. When It started happening on the 2nd one I suspected it might be the filtered pitcher that I got to prefilter the water. Well, guess what I got out of it when I cleaned it with a rotary brush?, black carbon!
Thanks for this video posting. What worked for me was a bright flashlight and a toothpick. I found what appeared to be wet lint stuck to that little screen you cleaned out with your sonic toothbrush. Before, the pump was struggling getting water pumped through, but now is very fast and easy flowing.
great idea, I have the same machine. have you been using filtered water or purified like the instructions say? if not mabey thats why you have this problem. Please let me know.
Just tried this on a Keurig machine that would only brew partial cups. After the cleaning, I ran five test brews (without K-cups) and all of them came out as full cups. So far, so good... thanks for the idea!
If your coffee maker is less than 1 year old all you have to do is call the keurig company at 18669032739 and they will send you a new maker for free ..they really stand behind their warranty
I tried turning mine upside down and shaking out all the water. It worked for the first two cups but after sitting overnight I had the same problem (I could hear the pump run but no water). I looked under the resevoir at the little screen/filter you mentioned but mine was clean. My unit came with a little charcoal filter that fits into the bottom of the resevoir. Considering your fix I'm trying mine without the filter. I'll let you know how it works tomorrow :-)
i thought this might fix it, turns out nope it sucks the water out of holder but wont push it out . i guess i gotta dip into the pocket for a new one thanks for the post though.
Hey thank you so much, I don't know if this is going to work, but it sounds just like my problem... Big hugs if this works, thanks so much for posting this. I'm going to go try it now...appreciate your post...Happy New year! Kym
Thanks! After searching everywhere and hearing such negatives it turned out my Keurig intake was clogged with charcoal from my Brita water purifier portable bottle. Over three years you get little specks of charcoal that made its way to the intake. Took off the clear plastic tank and the intake on the unit was clogged with charcoal. I unplugged it and used a little paper clip to scrape off the charcoal and then turned the machine on its side at the sink. Used the hose on the sink to rinse it ou
Please don't do what this guy is instructing you to do...just call keurig and they will help u...this guy is giving you incorrect information...I've called keurig my self and they walked me through steps that help my brewer work....though after my brewer failed I called them back even after my one year warranty and they replaced it for me(which I believe it depends on the serial number)...your best bet is to call them...

so mine pumps but stops....it is brewing very small cups I have to brew twice each time...any suggestions? I did to this fix and it worked to increase the stream but not the amount of water total (which is small)
@seejay713 Did you use a papaerclip to clean the needle of coffee grounds? Remove water fliter, place coffeemaker on the side, open the top and use the papaerclip to push intothe needle pocket. Run a few cups of water before you make a cup of coffee. Hope this helps.
You are incredible. I nearly threw out a $250 Breville because it wouldn't pump water. I used the little dental floss brush gizmos (they look like mini toilet brushes). I don't think it was a slime or sediment problem but rather a water line issue. I turned it upside down and shook it and it WORKED again after being dead for a year. I did a few cleanout brews to be safe. Thank you!!!
There are a bunch of tricks to this machine....thanks for the video...my model is the single cup...I only use it in the colder months...went to use it today and ZERO. The toothbrush trick will only work so far....there is a plastic filter inside the water intake...if your unit is pouring any water....use a paperclip to clear both inlet where you put your Kcups. You can pop it out very easily and poke it through..run some water though it to clear.
@handyandyhome - unplug the unit, take the 5 screws out of the bottom plate...lift the plate out...it will be connected to several ground wires..don't pull those out...just let the plate slide to the side of the unit; find the inlet to the water reservoir with the light on it...take out the two screw holding it. A piece of tubing joins this piece with the small vacuum pump...gently twist back and forth to remove the filter which sits inside the black plastic piece you just unscrewed
@handyandyhome - inside the black plastic retainer is a clear plastic piece with an outlet that was connected to the piping you took apart...gently pull this piece..looks like a smokers pipe...you can gently squeeze the circular bowl of the pipe and work out the black plastic filter..the top looks like a + sign..work the bowl around the edges and remove the filter...now get your tooth brush and clean the filter with it under gentle water..poke the bristles through the holes to clear it
once the black filter is clean..insert it back into the pipe...the bottom will slide straight into the slot just keep the +sign portion up; go back to the bottom of the machine...the tubing connected the "smoking pipe" piece to a vacuum pump....remove this piece again by gently wiggling back & forth...I did not need to remove the plastic zip ties holding it in place..just wiggle them out...once you have the vacuum out...run water through it and blow through it to remove any debris
mine had some crud in the pump..I put one end to my mouth and blew water through it several times to clear...put everything back in the reverse order and gently wiggle the vacuum back into its connector first...now put the clear portion of the inlet filter back into the black plastic frame..press it back so it's snug; reinstall the assembled inlet filter (with "smokers pipe") into place so the light slides into the bottom of the reservoir plate...screw back the 2 black screws.
Again...wiggle the pipe to reconnect the vacuum and the filter for the water reservoir, slide the bottom plate back into place...it slides back under a lip towards the back of the unit and screw in the 5 metal screws. Plug it back in and run through several cups of water without a Kcup....took me awhile to figure it out but it works like a charm again....thanks for the help....and hope this helps someone else...I think its posting my comments in reverse order though!
Bummer. My hopes dashed. Since i have 2 machines, tried the reservoir from the busted one on the good machine, and reservoir works, so it is the actual machine that will not allow the pumping of the water. I will go back to my search for a repair person. But thanks for this great idea, which worked for so many others.
If this doesn't work, try this: Remove water reservoir tank. Find the hole where the water enters the Keurig. Place the straw end of a can of compressed air in the hole, and tightly seal the extra space with your thumb and index finger (try to make it so no extra air can escape around your fingers). Holding the can upright (don't let it tilt), blast the Keurig thoroughly. Water should come out of the main spout and out of the air intake. This worked for me (where as the toothbrush didn't do it).
BREWER was not working at all. After cleaning the inlet into the brewer, it still didn't work. I removed the reservoir and used the toothbrush to clean the outlet on the bottom of the resevoir. This did the trick, brewer is working like a charm. Thanks!!
Can't wait to try this! I've had a love/hate relationship with my less than 1 year old Keurig and I cannot wait to have a love/love relationship after trying this!
This works like a charm! Why Keurig would not have a removable filter is beyond me. I'm sure lots of people would just go back to the store and get a refund and a different brand.
Just got my Keurig Signature and decided to check out what people thought about the re-usable My K-cup filter. Saw this too, so now I'll be prepared for this particular problem if it happens any time soon. Thanks!
My Keurig B60 suddenly stopped drawing water this morning, and the blue light began flashing at the bottom of the water container. I tried the above method and now my machine is working fine. Nice job of diagnosing the problem and finding a 'user friendly' solution. Many many thanks!!!
It won't even pump water to the brewer but I can hear the pump motor. It's only a little over a year old and it's been used MAYBE 30 times. Thanks for trying to help.
I got the problem fixed by removing the reservoir, turning the unit upside down and draining out the interior line. Rotated left and right while upside down and it worked. I was a little concerned about beating up my unit. This worked without the abuse. Good luck. You have nothing to lose. I hope it works!
Thanks for the tip. It also works with oral b electric toothbrush. I used the toothbrush for the bottom hole on reservoir, top spot in the reservoir and the 2 little pin spouts. After that, I descaled it and brewed cups of vinegar many times and that cleaned it nicely. It is working great now. I can see a lot of people just throwing their machine away after it becomes clogged.
Hey Thanks so much..It worked,....my coffee machine kept flashing and wouldn't work after each cup was made, I was taking the water reservoir off and wiping it down, it was beginning to be a pain!! But not anymore thanx to you!!
This worked for me! I noticed over the last month that my Keurig didn't seem to be drawing water as fast as before. Then today it just stopped pumping water altogether. When I pulled the water reservoir off, I noticed that the water intake was full of water. After using the sonic brush, the water seemed to drain from the area. Put everything back together and presto it worked! Thanks for the great fix!
Good to know if any future problems arise. I'd probably draw water first before I put the Coffee in, in case any of the sonicare residue might get in my coffee.
You are my hero! Mine stopped working yesterday and aside from slapping it as I saw in one video, I did just as you demonstrated and it works fabulously (again)!
Thank you for this video. Can you make one showing how to remove the big black funnel that holds the little k-Cup holder? I have grinds inside it. Page 12 of manual shows it still in the machine with a hand holding the holder, not the funnel. Book says pull on it until it snaps off, but I don't know what direction to pull and I don't want to break off the wrong thing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us the quick fix. Mine was not giving me a full cup of coffee; wasn't sure what to try after cleaning the water container.
I was ready to chuck my Keurig but tried the electric toothbrush trick and additionally used a water pik with tank. It works beautifully now. Thanks a bundle.
mine stop working and i found out that the valve that connects to the top needle is broken. it will not make a cup of coffee. i've tried to connect keurig about a replacement part but no one seems to get back to you.
You are absolutely amazing...what an easy fix!!!! I searched online for a solution and tried all the recommended ideas but, after 3 hours, still no coffee. I came across your video and thought, "there's no way I'm using my sonic to clean a coffeemaker", but I did like the toothpick idea. Using the toothpick alone made it work immediately! I'm now a very happy camper, already on my 3rd cup of coffee. Next time it stops working, I'll be willing to try your toothbrush method. Thank you!!!!!!
Awesome fix! all I needed was a Qtip to clean it out. I use the filter with the machine so it wasn't as caked as most would be. If you have hard water the sonic brush is a great fix. Thanks for the tip!!!!
Awesome fix! all I needed was a Qtip to clean it our. I use the filter with the machine so it wasn't as caked as most would be. If you have hard water the sonic brush is a great fix. Thanks for the tip!!!!
Dude thanks!!! I'm addicted to this little machine! I was sooooooo not happy when it stopped. These coffee makers are pretty expensive and I really didnt want to buy a new one! Thanks for posting!
I got one for Christmas and after about 2 weeks of 2 cups a day, it just stopped! Been looking everywhere for a quick cheap fix, and I just found it. Thank you so much! I'm so glad I don't have to take it apart or bring it anywhere to get fixed.
we registered ours... had a problem with the prime not sucking water in.. called in.. they had us go through the process of cleaning the needle and it worked for 2 days.. called in again, they sent us another one. The replacement works...2 weeks now and no problem. Wierd... Such good coffee, it's worth the hassle. Just aggrivating.
I took the filter right out. It didn't appear to be plugged, but cleaned it anyway. This did not solve the problem. The water will still not feed from the reservoir into the brewer when turned on. Any other thoughts??
@htorvil Hey if the coffee is not coming out into the coffee cup you may need to take a clothes pin or clip and shove it a good inch up the needle. You may have to remove the basket - it pops out. Shove it a good inch up all three sides. If you are using a my k cup this is more common to clog.
Thanks - it worked for me too! I used an Oral B instead of a sonicare - :o) and it worked the same way! I really appreciate you sharing this - I love the interenet and You Tube!
Hi, Great fix. Thanks for taking the time to share it, but I have one question. Does your wife know that you use her toothbrush for cleaning around the house ?
You fixed it! You the man. You'd think Keurig would explain this on the phone along with all the other things they tell you to do before they give up. Here's a tip...
Look into the little orifice with a flashlight and you can see the gunk. Break it up with a brush or pick, and suck it out with an eye dropper. Now a mean, clean, coffee machine.
I resolved my issue from a few months ago. The coffee wasn't brewing at all. Just taking in water and makes the buzz noise when trying to brew. What I did was pull the top off, hold the "Air Nozzle" and you get bubbles going back into the water tank.
Keep holding the air nozzle for a minute and let go to stop the brew. Then brew and repeat the same step. After four cycles, it purges the clog and water issue.
My B40 pump problem seems to have been cured by cleaning the check valve in the bottom of the reservoir It seems it jams easily & pump cannot pull water at normal flow rate so pump now runs about 1/2 as long. There is no filter & on the main frame there is only a probe which is supposed to open the check valve
Hey! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I HATE starting my day without my cup of joe! I had tried a couple other suggestions but this is the one that worked! Thanks for sharing!
Thank-you so much! So easy and free! Time to descale now.

THANK YOU!!! Mine was only a year and a half old. Toothbrush did the job and it runs like new. Appreciate you sharing this. You are the BEST!!!!

BREWER was not working at all. After cleaning the inlet into the brewer, it still didn't work. I removed the reservoir and used the toothbrush to clean the outlet on the bottom of the resevoir. This did the trick, brewer is working like a charm. Thanks!!

I have to try this except I don't have a Sonic Toothbrush.
Our Keurig stopped drawing the right amount of coffee to brew a complete cup so this could be the problem. Thanks for posting.
TheCardDiva 5 months ago
@TheCardDiva you can use a regular toothbrush, it's just a matter of the bristles scrubbing away the deposits.

Awesome it worked like a charm! Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!!!

@LILKTHY
Maybe its an air bubble? I got this from a site.
I got the problem fixed by removing the reservoir, turning the unit upside down and draining out the interior line. Rotated left and right while upside down and it worked. I was a little concerned about beating up my unit. This worked without the abuse. Good luck. You have nothing to lose. I hope it works!

@LILKTHY I am sorry it did not work. Have you run vinegar through it?
alusher2 6 months ago
You are a lifesaver. I called the company and they could not troubleshoot it. Even though you don't know me, I love you now.
Msmona3042 7 months ago

Thanks for the great fix!
mpwilkins 7 months ago
Awesome! Totally worked. Seems like a simple problem they should have told us about, right?
tjbadgett13 7 months ago
Good to know if any future problems arise. I'd probably draw water first before I put the Coffee in, in case any of the sonicare residue might get in my coffee.

You are my hero! Mine stopped working yesterday and aside from slapping it as I saw in one video, I did just as you demonstrated and it works fabulously (again)!
Have you made this recommendation to Keurig?

We have extremely hard water where I live, so I always buy jugs of distilled water for my Keurig. So far so good. I'll keep this tip in mind though.

I took the filter right out. It didn't appear to be plugged, but cleaned it anyway. This did not solve the problem. The water will still not feed from the reservoir into the brewer when turned on. Any other thoughts??
Thanks,

htorvil 1 year ago
@htorvil Hey if the coffee is not coming out into the coffee cup you may need to take a clothes pin or clip and shove it a good inch up the needle. You may have to remove the basket - it pops out. Shove it a good inch up all three sides. If you are using a my k cup this is more common to clog.

Also, Mikes post is the best ever regarding using the wides toothbrush. Rough day here and made me laugh! Haha.

Outstanding!!!

Thank you so much I solved my problem with your suggested solution. It worked. Thank you sooooooooooo much.
kmb2800 1 year ago

Thanks! I've had mine for a while now and I'm always scared that it will stop working. I only used filtered or bottled water in mine.

Mine stopped working too. It does draw water but stopped pumping.
My solution is to hold the white nozzle to make it brew. Pumps water back up the tank, then brews fully.
