It's the same as what they did with Golden War Machine in Marvel vs. Capcom. Having no hit stun is probably his only advantage over the rest of the characters since he's his move are not as fast. If he did flich, he wouldn't be able to get any moves off and he'd be a giant target for combos and infinites.

Also notice he doesn't have any teammates. Not sure if that's a restriction, but if so it'd make fighting him probably easier than anything, as he's got half the health effectively.

One of Gold Lightan's big disadvantages (as well as the Lost Planet robot's) is that they can't be played with a partner, meaning anyone NOT playing one of the two huge robots has an additional set of moves, specials, twice as much health, etc. They can also call in their partner for moves as well which helps keep things unpredictable.

I think it's a pretty fair tradeoff in the long run.
