@lols61ful Tap water has all sorts of impurities in it. Like Chlorine, or Fluoride and various metals and minerals. Once you distill it, you have captured only the pure H2O leaving all these impurities in the boiling pot.

you can also re-boil and distill already distilled water to make it even more pure again and again.... as many times as you want really. Just make sure your boiling pot is always very clean before adding your water back into it to reduce impurities.
